00:04

Welcome to Oh, brother, a podcast of three brothers, trying to figure it all out with your hosts, Brandon, Collin and Aaron. On this week's show, wonky wheels. Hey, how's it going?

00:28

I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of that. So hello. We're not he's trying to make it happen. It's gonna be his his new thing. Remember to pay attention last time? I'm not gonna give him the satisfaction of responding to Ahoy. Well, don't come around. It'll be fine.

Collin  00:56

Experienced two new things this week. First of all, oh, this show is all about new things. How exciting.

01:08

It is. The first one? Yeah. That had a client reach out to us. Alright, the daughter of clients reach out to us. This is the pet This is the dog I think I've talked about who was involved in a an abusive relationship between the his two owners, and was not kind towards other men. And oh, yes, this dog. Apparently. So the daughter of the owner called me or send us a message. It was like, Hey, can you call me I have a weird question to ask.

Collin  01:43

I was like, Okay.

01:45

called. And she said the gentleman in question. Apparently. They they have like a restraining order against him and all this stuff. He is coming back for custody of the dog. In court. What, what? That's the thing. That happens, apparently. And she requested us to send them the paid invoice for all of the visits that we have done this year, plus the estimated value of the future visit booked in the EU for the coming to the rest of the year. So that they can use it as evidence that she's the one taking care of the dog. And that this guy, and not him and not him, and that he has like he hasn't done anything for the dog has been since leaving. And she's spent all this money.

Collin  02:48

Yeah, this is crazy. I feel like you got to get Aaron in on this. I feel like that's what.

02:54

Yeah. What else? What else would have never been involved in a part of a dog custody case? Like this is just I

Collin  03:05

had no idea such a thing would exist. I shot. I mean, I'm bamboozled.

03:12

I've heard of people like breaking up. And then like not knowing what to do with the dog that they got. But like taking me out to court to get ownership of the dog is just a whole nother level for me. That's wild. No, it makes me really sad. Because it was a real sweet dog. And I'm been through a lot with him. He lost his his healer to and one that one was really old and died earlier this year.

03:45

And so I know just been through a lot with him. So it was just again, very weird. I'm like, I don't, the part of me was like, What if my brain does? What if the guy gets custody of the dog? I think he still lives here in town. And then he's like, Okay, well, I want you guys to continue to take care of him. Like, would I take care of this dog?

04:11

If the owner is like really crummy and has done all these terrible, horrible things that I know. Like, obviously, the answer is no. But it was just something that I was thinking about over the house. They're like, Oh, that's such a waste. I

04:25

did. Well, I mean,

04:28

would you punish the dog for the owner's terrible attitude? The that's the that's what I kept coming back to.

Collin  04:38

Right. That's kind of the quandary here. Like, yeah, you don't like the guy. But at least hit the dog would still be getting taken care of.

04:51

Right. Right. So that's, yeah, that's a good point. I was just like, oh yeah. It makes me feel icky. Just just charge him a little extra. Just like Yeah. For us. You get my super special referral price. Yeah. Anyway, yeah. You know the rates gone up. It's just the whole thing. Yes.

05:23

No, sorry. That's true. Yes, yes. Yeah. So that happened this week. That was a new one for me. I've never been involved in that. That's crazy. Yeah. So So yeah, cuz we have one one client who's put us on the her pet will wait, if when she dies, pets are slow down. We get we get money to take care of. That was crazy. That was crazy. Whenever she was like, Hey, I have a weird question for you. And I was like, are like, Okay. He was like, I'm not planning anything. I'm planning on going anywhere. We were like, a, she's like, but if you were to happen to me, I don't know what I would do with my dog. And we were like, a It's like putting you in my will to be there. conservators or whatever. Oh, my gosh. That was that was. We've had that and now we're now we're like, you know, in not in court. It's like a movie plot. It is. Earlier to like, that's how like a murder mystery start. Like, oh, that is true. I've seen it. I've seen aristocats literally know how? Oh, no. We're not. What is his name? Gerard. Yeah.

Collin  06:57

I don't remember. I haven't seen that movie a long time. I think we have it. Actually. We do. I have watched it recently with the children. Edgar, his name is Edgar. Edgar. Don't like Edgar. And then the other thing that Edgar? What? Oh, yeah. creme de la Edgar. How could How could I forget about?

07:26

I'm sorry. I've let you know. The other thing that happened was, um, both of my children were sick at the exact same time. Oh, it was super convenient. Crazy. I guess they got you know, they got all over at the same time. But no, I was that is good. Reflecting on this note, like Neither of my children have had like, a stomach bug where there's vomiting involved? Yeah, I've never we've never had kind of Collins's thinks himself. Awesome.

07:59

What I mean, they just had it so like, that's what we're experiencing.

08:04

And, and I, the the, the differences in my children's reactions is quite dark, as you'd probably imagine. Noah was like, a very stoic, like, very quiet still. And he grew up with his eyes closed. He'd kind of grit through it, and he want to go lay back down or cuddle, right?

Collin  08:32

Yeah. Versus waiting for this next one.

08:39

Through open her door, banging against the wall at like 9pm at night, runs down the hall screaming and throwing up title taneous Lee is like yelling at that she's throwing up and she's like, like, Danny in the hall and it's great to talk to me and she's like, we need I want to throw up in the sink and I'm like, bathtub, put your head down. And she's like, trying to turn around to talk to me about it. And she's like, Daddy, why is it Marines in the past?

09:23

Oh,

09:27

like, the only way we're gonna get through this right now is if you stop talking and put your head in the toilet right now.

Collin  09:35

True.

09:41

But she just wanted to talk about it and tell me everything happened and I was really concerned that it might have gotten 100 bedspread and all all these things. I

Collin  09:47

was like, Haha, yeah. I mean, as you wouldn't be as

09:50

bad as one would be. Yeah. Holy cow. I was I was like, I'm like, Oh, I'm so sorry. Like you're going through this. And but I'm so sorry, both you're going through this. It's just really funny how you're coping with it differently. And I'm gonna have for the rest of my life. But anyway, they're both on demand. They're both doing a lot better.

Collin  10:31

A lot is good.

10:32

Yeah. haven't had anything sense. Since this morning at four or eight, though.

Collin  10:40

Probably, but it's kind of a weird thing, right? And kind of, like, don't really think about because you kind of have to learn about what did you do when you don't feel good? Yeah, right. Because now I know, like, I take for granted that like, I know, the steps to follow now, like in my life when I have that, that yield stomach bug comes round. Yeah, or whatever.

11:04

This is a very good point. Because I found myself asking Noah, Noah, do you need to throw up then realizing he doesn't know what that is?

Collin  11:14

Yeah, I really like what he's talking about. I

11:18

have never had to ask him that before. And so I can always sounds like oh, like I can't expect him to to be able to respond or be able to reliably Tell me when

Collin  11:32

Yeah, what do

11:37

he doesn't know those warning signs? Yes. Well, yes, but like, to a lot of times it was just like preemptively like taking him and then being like, Hey, you feel this like I know your tummy and having him what really helped was having him point to where in his stomach hurt because for a little while, he had diarrhea. So obviously be lower on his body. Then whenever his true his toes like that helped to have like, does it feel hurt up here or down here and giving him some of those things? to?

12:15

To work some direction? Yeah, good point. Yes. Not only are we not only do we equip with, with feelings and words to use to describe our emotions, but we also have to use this clip to describe our body doing and feeling. Good. And I know these words, right. Like, oh, yeah, I know these words, but that's because I'm a lot older than you.

Collin  12:43

Yes. Because I'm not four. So that's not that's my No, I'm glad they're on the mend. Yes. Father on the mend and doing better. This is good news. Yeah, and then of course, tonight, Megan was like, I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac, but my stomach is really not feeling too good. I was like, Can I get away from me go over there. Even you can sleep outside. I do river and Susan's like, I feel so good. I'm like I buy I'm gonna stay over here. Now. If I make over there. Ah, gosh. Like, I'll bring you some soup, I guess by staying over here. So yeah, that was our assignment. Hopefully yours was less celsa that is I have not had that much excitement. I have definitely not. We did the Fourth of July thing. Right. to the park. And to the we did the traditional go sit on the golf course. And watch them fireworks pretty good. How's about it? Oh, we actually went to one of those. First on front food truck things

14:23

here in town with some of my friends. That's kind of cool. Like, we didn't really know what to expect. So we just showed up early.

Collin  14:32

And like, for a while we're like, man, we shouldn't have been here this early. And then about like 630 we're like nope, definitely should have got here this early. Because like apparently the whole town came. Like oh, my people. But it's cool. They're like 11 or 12 food trucks were there. Wow. Which I was like. Yeah, I was very surprised. I was like, man, I was not expecting this at all. And so that's weird. And then I'm still not exactly sure what a couple of them are selling because some of these people need to learn about marketing, because they like don't have a sign on their food truck. So it's kind of like walking around, what is this food truck even sell and you have to go for real close and look at the menu. They have, like, taped to the side of the thing. Because they don't have a spine. Does it paint signs on the side of the truck? It's literally the one job you have is to make sure you you clearly display the things that you want me to buy from you. And you have failed in this endeavor greatly. So what it was just like a white truck, like I don't I don't know what that is. Right? It's just white. It was white. And then when you got up to the windows like oh, you still churros. That would be nice to know, from a cross the thing here with our state, you need a site. And there's one truck that like it was brown. That's all I know. I literally have no idea what people are buying from it. The line is big. But like there was a pizza truck and it clearly said in blazoned on the side. Pizza. Okay, good. Good. That's good. One of the taco trucks. I hear I heard there was two I know for sure one of them was there, because on the side of this big giant yellow truck, it says tacos. Sounds good. Okay. So that's what So, you know, the barbecue truck, they do a good job. Because it clearly says it has the name of the I think I mentioned this, but the the local, like it's a real look. It's like a local shopping here in town. And they're they do like, catering and all this kind of stuff. They have a food truck now that they just like take out sometimes. So it's as real wise plan. Like, I know that I work with the ladies. I work with the guys, wife. She works at school. So I know they've been everything. And they Yeah, they're like, yeah, we're all food truck. So they have they have a storefront in town. Like during the day, you can go in there and get stuff or you can buy like bulk like I need like this much pulled pork and okaygo flap. And they cater and not a food truck, which is I think smart. So yeah, they're doing that. But they have good signage. So yeah, we did that. It was kind of cool. They had music, live music in the pavilion down there. I learned that my city has a police golf cart. I learned that because he was driving around because they had the roads closed off. Because it's literally on Front Street. So they just barricade the road off. And you have to park. The other good thing about getting there early is we parked like right in front of the thing. I don't know where some of the other people were parking, but they were walking from the long way away. Oh my god. So there's that. But they just blocked the road off. And so you can sit there was picking tables out there. I didn't know they're putting tables down there. That was cool. We just like Santa's table. Boom, claimed it. There we go. Here's what sounds like that music. Yeah, it was cool. The first music we there was like a mariachi band. It was awesome. It was like super great. They're like northeast Arkansas. I don't know what their name was. But they were fantastic. It was like the best. And then, like the next band afterward, was not great. And like, and the band that was the band. The local band, allegedly really good. was gonna be on last. But after like, almost all the way through this second band. We're like, Yeah, no, we're done. Because we ate. And we didn't really like that music anymore. We're like, Okay, I guess we can go now. There's nothing else to do. Really. It's just food and music. So like,

19:51

you know, whatever. But yeah, they're boring. They're just boring was the house But so we're like, okay, whatever.

Collin  20:04

And then the third band was the van. It's been they've been around here for like, ever, like, literally 15 years. Oh, and I think they played the same songs like that whole time. So if you've seen him one time, you've kind of seen it. You know what I mean? So like, just fine, but we were like, yeah, yeah, we can go. Yeah, gotcha, gotcha. That makes sense. They're just like, I guess they're good. But they just play the same, like literally the same thing all the time. So like, I saw them once, like, probably before we got married, so we're probably talking like, almost 15 years ago. And I bet they sounded like the exact same. So like, not not, not much an evolution in the department. Yeah. When you're like, random bar cover band. Like, your Sonic exploration is not exactly like, you know, you kind of find some songs you like to play? Yeah. And that's it. And if you write any songs, they sound very similar to the songs that you like to play. So yeah, there's all kind of like the same and so we're like, yeah, we're good. We can leave now. We had food. I had pasties from the London calling trucks came down again. That was good. But I'm sad now because I also had a hard time deciding, like, Do I want a pasty? Or do I want a burrito? Like a big fat giant burrito? And I chose to pasty which was good. It was a good choice. I had the traditional pasty because we got there early. They hadn't sold out yet. So boom, got it. So that was a good choice. However. Basically, since last Friday, I really just wanted a burrito. And I have not been able to have we tried to order out from a place over the weekend. But they were all close for the fourth. They were like close, like extra days. Like Yeah. Like, I'm still Oh, my goodness. I know. It's rough and Susan's like, would you want like Taco Bell like that? That won't do like that. That just won't cut it. I don't think that's not enough burrito ness for what I need in my life right now. So we'll see either this craving will go away or I will find a burrito eventually. But so far, just as the burrito has eluded me, so that's sorry. That's basically it. I haven't done anything else. I feel very lazy. Because I have nothing to do really been like sitting and watching movies. Mostly. That's what I've been doing.

23:31

Yeah, that's all I got this week. Like, yeah, did some laundry finally. Alright. But yeah,

Collin  23:39

I'm on vacation mode

23:43

right now. So that's been it.

Collin  23:52

He's talked about my movie watching here in a minute because it's been weird. So let's talk. What's Aaron been up to though? always goes off the rails. Aaron. Yeah. That's true.

24:01

Oh, works been a little chaotic this week. So I've been mostly damaging control or damage control. So I but I haven't. I didn't even get to go anywhere for Fourth of July. I need to go do or see anything. Fireworks? You can say some? Yeah, who? Kind of down the street for me. were shooting off fireworks like in the country. Or like partially in the city, which you're not supposed to do? But I mean, I could see it from where my apartment was those guys.

Collin  24:35

Do prefab show.

24:37

So I didn't get to. I couldn't go anywhere. I couldn't get to do anything. But a few calls that were little like, Oh, I have to go out right now. Awesome. Sweet. So I've been dealing with weird and crazy people. And so I unfortunately did not get a chance to enjoy Fourth of July. I didn't I didn't get to go anywhere or do anything. I just been kind of me hanging out and working out every every day kind of thing that's really been about it. I have nothing to contribute to sorry I have no that's how I feel.

Collin  25:17

I feel that way too right like I just finished like sitting here. That's one of the opposite of you, but like kind of similar like I've just been like doing nothing really you've been like only working I've been only sitting so like it was a sorry though.

25:42

Yeah, it was a veritable bombing appear over Fourth of July. I fireworks were intense last year. But this year Oh my people really? were very interested in there being lots of fireworks all the time.

Collin  26:04

Yeah, I heard a lot of the there's several places around here that were like, selling out of stuff. Not which I'm sure that happens a lot. I just don't hear about it. So I heard about it this time. But you know that Luckily, there is like who three four, usually like seven firework stands in the very close proximity, which is so weird, but that's why I guess you could just got somewhere else.

26:35

I think trying to remember where I read it. I think since a lot of people this year, especially since they were kind of more cooped up last year, like even people were able to shoot off fireworks. I think that since people didn't get a chance to shoot off or be like as social remember, like hearing a lot about people this year, like actually going to more like Fourth of July parties and doing like that's I think people wanted to go big or go home kind of stuff. And I watched some YouTube video about it where they talked about like, Oh, this is gonna be like the biggest one ever. And like, Yeah, well the July but then they kind of talked about how people were, you know, locked inside for so long and no, we you know, need to make it memorable. It's like, we're just gonna have a next year, there's gonna be fireworks to find a network.

Collin  27:27

That couldn't really tell. Like when I went to the park this year, it just was it seemed normal. Right. But again, we don't ever go into the park. Because there's like we sit across the highway on the golf course. So we just park on the highway. Yeah, jump the ditch and go sit on the golf course. So you can just see right across the park from there. So you can sit just on the fairway just through like get out of the fairway like Ah, yeah. Yeah, that's there's there was less people on the golf course this year.

28:09

Usually,

28:12

there's a

Collin  28:13

not insignificant number of people over there. I mean, it's not like a ton, but like the majority of the people are in the park. And then some people sit on the golf course. I felt like this year there was less people over on the golf course with us. Oh, I don't know. That's all I know. Maybe I just want to go in the park. Maybe there was food trucks in the park? I don't know. I don't know. Maybe that's where the burritos were. They were in the park. So but yeah, it was pretty good. We got out really fast. I guess where we happen to pull off on the shoulder like we got back to our car. The benefit of practicing on the golf course is that you get back to your car faster than everybody else. And so you can just pull on the highway and go so. But I felt like it was easier leaving this year than it has been in the past. Because there's been some times in the past we had to like sit there forever. So with with waiting for the cars to find a way out traffic and then the police come and they like stop traffic on the highway. Because there's the exits from the park come out right on the highway. So the police come out and they block it out and they let people out and everything like that. Yeah. So at least this year, I felt like it went faster. So maybe that's just because we escaped quicker. I don't really know. I can't really tell if there was more or less people. Then because we didn't go live So it's hard to remember. But it felt close. Maybe a little less, a bit a bunch of people were like, because they should they could travel for the Fourth of July. So they probably like Lake Let's go. Well, you know what I mean? Yeah, I feel like there was probably less people in town in general. Just because I feel like they were leaving, they they left. Because I felt like there was definitely less people parked on the side of the road, like in town, because a lot of people like could go to like, because the park is down in this little at the bottom of Valley. So they shoot all the stuff like you can see them from very far away. So people will just park in like business parking lots. And wow, there had some lawn chairs and and watch them. But I felt like I saw less of those people. And we even went even, we didn't even go like till it was almost they started like 930 I felt like we left the house like 910 or something. So there was there was less people around, I think in general, but I bet they were all traveling. Because last year they like you can't travel and if you're like yeah, you can travel like so.

31:21

Well, I'll say we're a cross sectional point in people's traveling to and from the lake. And the Friday Nope, not Friday. Yes. Friday. Ah, gotta write was insane. I mean, traffic just bumper to bumper to bumper to bumper with people with their RVs with their campers with their boat, because they go through you to get to a town on their way to their site or to the lake and it was just like, I had to run out for I went with something I don't remember right now. But it was just like, no, take me back home. People everywhere. Yeah.

32:04

I went, I want him to Husker today. For we a little work meeting that I think is poppin with people, which is weird, because it's a Thursday. But like they had downtown close, because they're shooting the movie, and everything right. And like I remember trying to like navigate just at least a street. I was like, I can't get where I need to go because there's just so many people Leonardo DiCaprio. People want to see him. Like, I remember, because I got that Thursday, like morning in busca. It's like, not gonna be busy at all place was packed like that, like they had like, downtown blocked off with like this big, like, black wall thing. So you couldn't like go past it. And you can see like, they had all these tents for like actors and movies that people like, all through, like scattered through across town and all these security people and like there's just like tourists, they're just like, visiting, trying to get across town and, like, go do this, but it was, it was the place to be a family. Apparently.

Collin  33:17

Who knew pawhuska is the place to

33:22

be.

Collin  33:30

Once I hear sometimes people are like, oh, there's a lot of people in town. I'm just going Why? Like, right. What are they here? What are they doing? Like on the I understand what they're doing on like, Wednesday afternoon? Because like, tons of people work here. Like sometimes on like, a Saturday afternoon like why are there so many? What are they doing? Like you know, we drove down the Broadway the other day. And I was like, I really liked it. They're kind of like, you know, we've talked about this I might have said this before Stop me if I have but like okay, they're really doing a lot of work down there to make it like nice and like keep it nice and and a lot of people go down there but there's really nothing there that I want to go to. Right like okay, like gotcha there's not like they have like all these storefronts and they'd be reviving them and they bring in these business anything but like there's nothing that I want to go there for. Yeah. Yeah, there's a couple like, like the pawn shop, and like there's like an old like drugstore thing. It's been there for forever and it just has like weird stuff in it and it's kind of interesting to go in there. By the Like, they sign up all the time, stop, you know what I mean? It's a little old timey kind of store thing. You know, got that vibe going on. But other than that, there's like the my accountant is there, you know? Oh, yeah. Like the CPA group that we do our taxes with. They're there. You know, so we go down there once a year for that. We felt like, you know, it feels weird because there's like, all this stuff. And then like, you know, they've tried really hard to like, make it nice. And they have that pavilion where we went for the first time front thing or whatever they have the silo that I've talked about that they painted up all ridiculously hasn't name now. It's called the freedom silo, officially. Freedom silo. Yes. Anyway, apparently, people can take pictures of that, because it's so beautiful and patriotic and generic and boring. It's a silo. Again, I've talked about this before in the show, too. Sorry, not to retread too much. But it is an American flag with an eagle in front of it. Like, it's like it's well done, and it looks nice, but it's not like what you would call original stuff. Like, I feel that, you know, as far as representing our community, sure, I guess. Whatever. I don't, like, you know, they could have been in a bear on it. Right? That would have been cool.

36:50

That's literally the school mascot is the cubs. Could you like bigger things? Whatever. Well, that was my question about what's your mascot was though. Okay, bear. It's a bear. It's the cubs. So you could put like a bear.

Collin  37:04

Right. So that would have been cool. But, you know, whenever I didn't know, it was called that till I saw sign, like historic downtown. And the freedom silo.

37:19

I was like, wait a minute, why do you call it that? Terrible.

Collin  37:29

But like, it's a cool area. And it's like, you know, it's really it's relatively nice center now. Like, yeah, there's one thing I want to go there for. And I can't really think of anything that I want them to put in there. Like, yeah, okay. Susan asked me, well, What business do you want them to put? And I was like, I don't know. I couldn't really think of what would coax me to go there. Like, oh, I have to go to this place. I couldn't think of anything. Very exciting. So like, I don't know, I guess I'm just not going to be pleased at all with this situation. Because I literally could think of anything that would entice me to the area that they could add. Because they're like, they're building a whole, like, new library and everything, but it's going somewhere else, the old libraries down there. But they're building a new one. someplace else.

38:22

What are they going to do with the old old library?

Collin  38:25

No idea. Yeah, I don't know. Hey, haven't heard yet. And they just like, just recently broke ground on the new one. So like, it's not anytime soon. But I did read. somebody posted something. I can't remember. It was a call. It was like a response to it. I think Susan showed me it was on the the community Facebook page, whatever. You know, somebody was like, I can't believe the committee. They're spending all this money on a new hospital and a new library. Like what's wrong with the old ones they already got? Like? First of all, I've never heard anybody complained about a new hospital before. That's weird. thankful for that. And yeah, because like, what's wrong with the old one? I don't know. It was built in like, the 40s. And it's got like, nothing in it. The surgery rooms are not good. And like, you can't do anything there. So plenty, plenty is wrong. That's the answer. It's like with the other one. You know, like, what's wrong with the library? It's very small. And from what I understand, like, basically is very limited in the amount of technology that it can offer to first off to like that's kind of the whole point is to like, update it and make it a modern library and not a random room. Because Susan has been in the same building for a long time. And she said it's just very outdated, was her words. So I'm thinking about the picture I have in my mind is like the old Bretton Woods library. I feel like, that might not be entirely accurate, but I'm going with that. That's

40:24

probably a good place to start. I don't think you can go too wrong there. Probably. Maybe.

Collin  40:30

And you're not getting too much more outdated than that old building from when we were kids. So now, that's a good point. Yes. So, you know, so, yes. I don't know. What else would I would want to go downtown for but not the library soon, because it's going someplace else. Although there is a Mexican store down there, so maybe they they do sell burritos there. So

41:05

Okay, wait, when you say Mexican store, is this like a, like a market? Or is this like, Yeah, okay. Yeah,

Collin  41:11

it's like, I'm not sure if they were like, there's two. There's two supermercados down there. There's a little one. And then there's like, a much bigger one. Like halfway down the street there. And they sell all kinds of exciting things. So do sell food like already made. There's a little like, restaurant a thing in there.

41:40

Think like,

Collin  41:41

in one of them. It looks like Do you remember? All right, here we go. Are you ready to get in the Wayback Machine with me? I'm gonna take you, DeLorean back to skateboarding. Yeah. Do you remember a snack area in skateboard? Yes, it came in. It looks kind of like that. Nice. Okay. It has like that. Weird tile floor. Yeah. And some benches that are kind of orangey right in there. And just like a wood counter with the thing the menus like in the on the top? Right. There's two ladies back there that like make stuff. Well, sometimes there's two ladies probably on the weekends. There's two. Sometimes there's only one. But they like make the fruit right. So that's but it's it looks like it reminds me of the skateboard little food area. Remember, the Indiana cotton candy machine? I never got any. I don't have a cotton candy machine. Maybe Maybe I'm a I mean, I just don't I also never got cotton candy. Because there was much better things to spend my money on than cotton candy. Right, like nachos. So I mean, when you put it that way? Yeah, sure. You're the little DJ power that was obviously

43:19

like it's just this weird little like pedestal kind of thing that this guy was like mounted on top of and there's like little like a spin a wheel drive behind them. And people like don't like request music from them.

Collin  43:31

Oh, yeah, you can skate. Yeah, I forgot you could do that. I want the dollar thing was right there too, wasn't it? There was like that net like booth that like fondue thing like blew the stuff around? Yeah, I was right behind that too.

43:46

Oh, man.

43:49

You know what? I really want more than anything in the world. In my life.

43:53

Tell me what do you want? What do you really

Collin  43:56

one of those benches that was in there? Like tupid fiberglass bench things. They were like crazy colors. Like there was like they were like I definitely never was lime green. And make them more blue. I want one of those. I've wanted one of those like for so long I wish like I wish when they close that place it I hope that they were still in there and I really wanted to go get one those are the weirdest looking things ever. Right they have such our discount for that, like so bad. I don't know why.

44:38

Because they had like cut out on the ends right there. These long low rectangles with maybe fiberglass, but they had huge notches cut out of the end so they kind of look like the greater than less than sign on either side.

Collin  44:51

Yeah, yeah. And they were hollow inside. Yes. Which was so I guess you could like I don't know, I put my shoes in there. I don't I don't know what you supposed to do with it but like, it was so weird looking to have like that lip rather it was so bizarre. It's the weirdest looking bit to this day. It's the weirdest looking things have ever seen. Right? Like I don't know. It's so strange

45:14

when also finally close I don't know yeah, I have no idea what did you call that later? Because I remember I remember driving by like when I was like early college and then

Collin  45:38

I'm pretty sure it was still open when the building was still there. We didn't really school there. Yeah, I don't know if it was open.

45:45

And then when I when I went back one day for I think it was like meeting like, maybe for lunch or something. I was like, it is out there.

Collin  45:55

I remember I was so sad when they tear that building down. Like I was like really sad. For a while like I saw it. I was like, Oh, I am about man to send you. Hold on. Hold on. Oh, boy. On a nostalgia overload. You guys, send me pictures of skateboard.

46:24

I am sending you from dead rinks.weebly.com a website dedicated to cataloguing the dead scape port and dead roller rinks across the United States. And they have included Oh, you're

Collin  46:46

Oh my god. Oh my gosh, pic. Oh, no. Oh, we have to link this to the end. We have to link this somewhere so people can understand what we're looking at. It's gonna be this this is beautiful people

46:56

can go to Oban. Yeah, they've got the they've got the picture of the snack bar of the skate rental and purchasing of the actual rink itself, which you can kind of see the benches that we're talking about.

Collin  47:12

Now that now when in that I can see I scrolled down and looked at the cafeteria bench, and I was just like, oh, man, I sat there so much. Like, I don't even know how much I sat at these bitches like rain. Yes, it is. A skate rental thing. That was so nice. Also, can we talk about who on earth is on this parking lot? What kind of like ski slope Hill is this? Like? I don't know. Terrible. All bitches

47:46

Yes. Oh my god. You You couldn't get to it like straight off the highway. Right? Or whatever. Right? Like go like, yeah, yeah, I'm as glenstone Oh, man.

48:00

Yeah. But oh man. That's beautiful. You've got like descriptions of kind of like the history of it of like, first it was star roller rink. Then it became star port. The rink had What? White pill warehouse now building for carrier? Yes. And this person is like actually going it was tan writing these

Collin  48:22

place man. Whoever curates his website.

48:26

You are I'm thankful for you. You are a beautiful person. Eg snow

48:34

dead rink memorabilia shirt. And more. I can't really name is Mark all also, he first skated it Empire skates roller skating rink and do it New York. And has mark

48:49

mark here beautiful person. Your genius may have that backer you were the back party rooms.

49:00

Yeah. Somebody my friends had birthday parties. They're like, so much less great. And like skate night was so cool. Did you did you I know. Collin went and did you was skate night still a thing

49:21

when you were a kid? sounds right. I mean, I don't really think it like changed all that much. Like whenever, whenever I went, but I didn't really like go in high school. It was kind of more like a elementary middle school kind of No,

Collin  49:37

yeah, I only went elementary to like that's what

49:41

and so for me my experience was was different because like yes, it was it was a really cool place to go. But like especially like a fifth grade like that was the place like you went to for dare. But I had already been there so much. Like, yeah, I mean like, this is cool. But I mean, I've been here like 1000 times. But I mean, I remember having people's birthday parties there and like going and doing like stuff like that. And like randomly going there, like field trips or something random

Collin  50:13

now. So like they did a thing where they have like, skate night. And I don't remember on which night of the week this was, but you got, like, I don't know if they rolled it around. But like, there was a daylight if you went one night of the week, like if from your, like, from rogersville it was cheaper to get in. Yeah. Hi. Nice and sunny areas.

50:40

Yeah,

Collin  50:41

so like, one night of the week. It was like, cheaper for us to go. And all my friends would go all the time, like the whole, like, I will you just go there and like all your friends be there. All the kids go to school with have been there. It was awesome. Like, and again, I went for the first time in, like, first grade. Right? And I have this very distinct memory. of like, kinda like, like I was, it was weird, right? I was kind of intimidated because it's dark. And like, there's all these older kids there were like flying around, you know? And, like, I remember like being kind of intimidated. Right. And I also have a very distinct memory of like, Dad being like, you know, Dad was their dad took me and he was gonna skate. He was like, show me how to skate right? And he like, ate it so hard, cuz he's not good at skating. He did. He just like took out any and he must have we must have gone like right after work because he was still wearing like his work clothes. Like when he A long time ago when he were for general heating. So he's wearing like, khaki pants and like a button up shirt. like eight it hard on this case. Yeah. But yeah, I remember like, good go all the time. And my friend's birthday. We had birthday parties all the time. And we would go to skate night like so much. Just so much. And then like, I remember buying or Yeah, having my own roller skates. After that. I mean, this was a 90 so obviously I had roller blades. Guys, come on. Obviously, they were great. They were at listeners. They were black in lime green. Yes. So they were perfect for rollerskating in like 1983. Right, obviously. Now that we threw away what the dog ate him, I think later. Definitely had some sweet black and lime green rollerblades. Oh, yeah. So much fun. I remember going there all the time. Definitely member jumping over those benches when I became that older kid who was skating around way too fast. Through all this stuff. They used to play like red light green light. Yes. Right. Remember that? And they played the four corners. They used to have numbers hanging on the ceiling. This picture doesn't show it. Yeah, they just had these big giant numbers hanging on the ceiling. And they would like it was kind of like a biggest play for corners. Like they would play some music. And all of a sudden the DJ would stop and be like, too. And then there was like a cap down. Yeah. And if you didn't get there in time, you were out. And so you played that. They did where that greenlight they had speedskating time, like specifically for like, there was like, a certain number of like a song or something they would be like this is now the speed skating section. Because like normally you had to like be cognizant and like, be careful and you will get yelled at for scaling too fast through people. But during speedskating time, it was it was just like, go ham, whatever. Just like go for it by and so you could go bananas like all the people that didn't want to go fast. They would just go they would go sit on the benches, the sweet, sweet fiberglass benches. And then

54:37

I have to contact mark to see if he can track down the he knows the history of where those landed.

Collin  54:46

Yeah, how do we get one? I'm sure that's what Susan wants in our living room is a giant skateboard. Honey, that I definitely did not ever jump over. Yeah, we just got the new couch. Screw that skateboard. Thanks, everybody. Where I broke my wrist, I was gonna say Kong has a very specific memory of skateboard. He do.

55:09

pretty convinced that I broke it during the changeover into the speed gate thing, because or probably just because the kid that passed in front of me was going a mile an hour, 20 miles an hour on skates, obviously, because obviously a lot faster whenever I was little, but he threw me off balance. And the one thing that I still this day freaked me out about it is that the skate rink was inset inlaid into the ground.

Collin  55:37

Yeah, it was sunk in the ground. I don't know, who thought that was a good idea

55:41

to step down to get in and up to get out. And for somebody who is uncoordinated as their father on stage. This is a bad this is bad news. And, and it

Collin  55:51

wasn't like a little lip, either. It's like, I feel like it was like five or six inches.

55:57

I was gonna raise inches. I was gonna say six inches for sure. Because and then that.

Collin  56:02

Yeah. Because that was all carpeted. Yes. like weird blue carpeting. Yes. Right. And then you went down into the skate floor, which is our base skated. And then in the back corner, they had like the kiddie skate area. Yeah. It was a slickest floor. Like I don't know what that was made out of. so incredibly slick.

56:27

I always thought that was like special tricks or maneuvers or something. Because I could literally never cross that at all. Like, my feet would flip out. Yeah, ways. Like,

56:38

I don't know, I, I always thought it was like the little kid area, because it was like a small little corner in that back in the far back corner.

56:46

It was just like a little circle. And as I always have, that's where the like the older kids hung out.

Collin  56:52

I don't know. I always thought it for little kids. But it was so slick. Right? It was like,

56:57

the only thing I remember about that. Yeah. I remember I remember. Hearing man. Oh, I was I remember thinking like going up there. I can't remember like what friend I had. But she made the request of playing pretty spears. Oops, I did it again. And I remember I was I was standing next to the DJ or like underneath, and I was like, No, don't play that. That's dumb. And I remember like, he was looking like, straight into me, like felt like into my soul. And like, without even looking at his little DJ setup, just like press the button. And like came out and super loud. And then just like slowly turned away. And I was like, Oh,

Collin  57:42

he did? Yes. I was still going in middle school. So I definitely remember people skating to the mockery. No, I didn't say that was the thing. That was definitely a thing that happened. And also weird. Like lots and lots of early 90s hip hop bike, I remember that distinctly. That's the first time I heard like a lot of rap music, I think was that skateboard? Because they play it like all the time all. Makes for excellent skating. So I

58:18

think that's where did you guys ever have any birthdays? They're like, yeah, give yourself like that. And? No, no, I don't think so. Because I never had birth, I never had a birthday there was I think it's always close during that time of year for me anyway. But I only ever going to like a handful of friends birthdays. And then why? We don't all just like scatter and escape for like 1520 minutes. And then whoever parents will be like, I got time for this. And then we go back and have cake. And yeah, those back rooms. They have cake back then. And we open stuff presents and then scatter again. And yeah, yeah, me pretty much you would mean he would show up and come pick me up. And I would always be excited to see her in. And yeah, I would faceplant trying to transition the ring. I remember that a few times. And then not not being very good at something because they had some arcade game games.

Collin  59:18

They had when I was little, they had a bunch and it was like that, that whole wall. So like, from what I remember, you walk in the door, right? And then the skate rental place was like, right on the right side of the door. And then the food thing was to the left. You know? Yeah. And then like straight ahead was the skating rink, like behind the food thing. It was like the DJ booth in the skating rink. But on that wall, immediately to your left, when you walk in the door, that whole wall was arcade games when I was kid, the whole thing. So we also used to play a lot of arcade games. And I don't know if I've mentioned this on the show before, but you get a very exciting thing happens when you are playing arcade games on rollerskates. Right? Because we would play like the Mortal Kombat or the Street Fighter game. Yeah, actually the Street Fighter game, we play that. But if you're playing on rollerskates, right, you can. You're playing there, and you're tapping thing. And you can also kick the people like in real life.

1:00:28

And you try to knock them off their skates while you're playing arcade games. And so when they fall down, you're like, yeah, by the way to win, right so

Collin  1:00:38

Oh, my it's like this. Double this like double fighting game of you're like, fighting in real life. And fighting on Street Fighter on the on the arcade machine because I can get pushed down in real life. Looks your corner.

1:00:59

It was great.

1:01:07

Oh, man, it was so much fun. Yeah.

Collin  1:01:15

I love it. Oh, man, I loved it so much. It was so much fun. Clearly. Yeah, I was such a responsible, responsible elementary student like

1:01:26

I know. It's so young and oh, vicious. Hilarious. I love it. It was great. I loved it a lot. Marshalls kind of memories that mark is trying to preserve through his through his website. And he has quite a disdain for people replacing roller rink rink with anything other than another roller rink in all of his This is true. It's pretty funny. His here's a line that says this is now demolished for new and making a pitcher curve road. I believe that was a terrible idea of the town to do that and destroy this beautiful rink.

Collin  1:02:14

Yeah, I don't I don't know why it closed down. I guess I you know, I don't know if roller skating is a thing that people engage in anymore? Or to what degree? They do so. So I don't know, if having a building solely dedicated to only rollerskating

1:02:47

is a worthwhile deal. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know.

1:02:56

news articles at the time in 2013. There's a news article here that says that it was demolished because mo dot was trying to relieve congestion around that side of town. And they need to have a better way of routing traffic north and so they eminent domain building to demolish it. Or rodak

1:03:21

man mo dot that's harsh man doing maybe hear me out? Maybe city of Springfield. Maybe if you didn't build your roads like trash, you wouldn't have these

Collin  1:03:43

bass true they have that the whole thing up there because you get off on glenstone you can go back around that whole weird way. So but you could get back there before way. Like, you could drive on that road behind skateboard wasn't like a thing. So I don't really understand why they tore down skateboarding and built an Andes right there. So as weird like doesn't make sense. I'd have to look at the satellite pictures of like how the road moved. You know what I mean? Because I feel like in my mind, it wasn't really super drastic, but again, I know I know that like I know our our kids. Oh that pinches Oh my gosh. Oh, this picture. Oh, it gets me. Oh. Oh, man. Sorry, listeners. Sorry. Is the screen one like we sorry. So they what artown they have? repurposed the old YMCA. gym floor. Are they Have rollerskating on like Friday nights for people go do that. They tore it. They didn't tear it down. They have an old building downtown. Yeah. And it's pretty janky. And it's very small, right? But it has all that old basketball hardwood floor in there. And so they built the new Why? And it's like enormous, right. And so the old one, they just still they still have random things you can do there. And one of them is they just skate on the basketball floor instead of basketball league on it like that. So my kids were telling me last year to the, to these girls that are in eighth grade, they would come and talk to me in the morning. There's kind of say, Hey, what's up that I had, I had them in fifth grade. They came by for a little visit. And they were telling me about their skating adventure. And how apparently one of the Oh, no. Issues like all fallen down. And but the other one was given her all kinds of grief. Because she was Oh, don't worry. She was skating with this boy, help and hold her up. She got real red in the face,

1:06:16

right. Oh, yes. So the candle. scandalous. So I've given all kinds of grief about that. I was like, Can you really not skate? Are you just pulling the old like, Oh, no. Oh, I've fallen down. Please help me up again. She didn't think those were funny.

Collin  1:06:39

I don't know why. No idea. We're still a kid. So I think some places but like other than that I don't really know about if people go roller skating or not. In other places. I don't know if I just thing. Mark wants to go roller skating clearly. Yeah. That man in the rink. Mark, I hope their mark. I know you're listening, obviously. So I hope that you are continuing to escape and can do so. And not just out in the street? Because we've all rollerskating in the street as well. We know it's not as fun. Yeah, it's cool. Right? The asphalt is terrible for skating.

1:07:27

Don't do that. Oh my gosh, I just looked up apparently just hurts really bad. I've never seen or heard of this place before. My town has a roller rink. To Tuesday night, you can go out and you can roller rink it up for $5. Which is amazingly cheap. How is that? It's pretty good.

Collin  1:07:52

What does that is? Because Well, here's the deal. Our Town youth an old skating place. I think that's part of why I opened theirs as a place because the other one closed down. And he well known for goodness. You know. And so you can really like tickets, there wasn't really a great place for children to so the why I think that's one of the reasons why the Why did that. So check it out first, and then you too can fall in front of your kids on rollerskates. Like that.

1:08:35

I mean, I just have to do it. It's called it's called wheel thing. Eight, enter the wheel thing.

Collin  1:08:45

First of all, that's a beautiful name. It is I really do. I approve this message.

1:08:52

I'm gonna have to leave that tab open. Because I'm excited about Ah, so interesting. Find the roller rink in and go support them go have some fun. They are a lot of fun. It's true. I don't know how much fun is going to be 30 channeled. 30. But

Collin  1:09:14

probably it's gonna hurt a lot more, although it hurt you a lot already. So it's already broken. Ha. You're already broken by skating rink. So it's fine. What you're going to do, maybe the floor will be inset.

1:09:26

And so you know, my luck the floor will be raised six inches. Do you have to step Oh, no. There's no railing. platform. That's a terrible idea. Why would you do that? I don't know. Why would you even set it ridiculous?

Collin  1:09:44

I don't know. It makes more sense and phrasing it. Yeah. You know, I thought that for a long time. And I I was always like when I was a kid I was like this is dumb. Why do they do that? Like you get used to it after a minute. So when you go to there was another skating place. South Campbell was at skate land. aliens. Yep. Yeah. And I went there a few times. Because my friend, one of my other friends. Like, I would go with him, because it was closer to where he lived, I guess. And it did not have inset floor. It had like the, like, a half wall around the thing. So like, the whole thing was walled in. Yeah. So the two of the sides like the Yeah, it was like an ice rink. Right? But like, two of the sides were just the wall of the building. Sure. Right. And then the other two, were this half wall thing. And that's where all this stuff. This stuff was over there on the like, the benches, their benches were not cool. They just hadn't been boring benches. So obviously, they were failures. And but I didn't like it as well. I don't know if because you can only exit at certain points. Because it's skate port with the inset floor, you just get out. Wherever doesn't matter, right? You're skating around, oh, your friends are over on this side. Oh, you hop out. You have to like go all the way around again. You know, that's true. Or you don't have to get out and then traverse the outside. We just like hop off. You're like, Oh, hey, there's that cute girl you want to talk to you? Jump out? Right? Doesn't matter bench. But when I sit on again. Oh, man. Yeah, we're your friends. Like, that's the other cool part. Because a lot of times what happened because, you know, people just show up, whatever. So you're skating there. You're going around. Now you come around and you see your friend putting on their skates at the bench. So you jump out and go sit next to him. So you can hang out and get started skating with them while they're getting their stuff ready. You know. But that, I don't know. It was just more accessible. I guess. The whole area around it was just more accessible. I felt like it's I really like that. You can just like, hop in and out. Go wherever. Do whatever you want. Jump out. Go get snacks. Sit at the sweet tables.

1:12:22

Just is better.

Collin  1:12:26

To it's like that home turf thing because you like the one you go to the most is the one that you love. obvious, right? Yeah. So like, no other skating rink ever is gonna compare to my love for skateboard because that's the one like the childhood rink. Like I said, I am. I have hard coordinates down for skateboard like real bad. real bad.

1:12:53

I'm thinking then that means that our first our our next our next live in person recording should be at the wheel thinkspace dinner. Live on the rink. Live on the rink, that being a review of the year.

Collin  1:13:11

I can't tell you the last time I put on roller skates though. I bet it hasn't been since a middle school. Probably longer for me. So I bet you I

1:13:24

cuz I feel like we stopped going skating. Yeah, in middle school. Price, sixth grade, maybe.

Collin  1:13:37

So I bet that's the last time I've worn roller skates or in landscapes, any sort of skates with wheels. You know? I bet that was it. Because the ice I know the ice skating place opened when I was in high school, Jordan Valley Park. And so there was a couple times we went ice skating. Like there was one time. Kobe and I showed up like we met like a ton of people from banned ice skating. Like we all just went. There was like 20 people. Just one verse some reason.

1:14:15

Right? So but that was only a couple times. So the skating charm wore off, I guess.

Collin  1:14:27

But I definitely haven't roller skated. And I probably haven't worn four wheel roller skates. Because Oh, like I said, I was skating in the 90s. So like, inline inline skates were the thing. Yeah. Right. That was the thing. Everybody wore in line all the time. You know, I had friends who had like super fancy inline skates. You know, like the big wheel like the speedy ones. They had like the four wheels because they were like wave pass or whatever. I don't know. Like I don't think That means I haven't worn four wheeled roller skates since I was in elementary school, so probably like, second grade. So we're talking like 1992. From the date myself a little bit, like 9192 that's probably the last time I wore four wheeled roller skates. Obviously, the rental roller skates at this time they were beige with orange wheels, I still may have a very vivid picture in my mind of what these look like. Yes.

1:15:35

Well, what's funny, as you say that that's the background image of the wheel thing skates, and

Collin  1:15:42

it's probably just the same one for like bowling shoes, right? Like rental skates have just looked the same since like 1975. I,

1:15:51

I could never get used to the toe break on the four wheel. Right in order to stop, you either had to turn your foot sideways and drag or tip your forward, stop and stop on your toes.

Collin  1:16:09

That did the Draggy way because it felt weird to especially when you went really really fast. Yeah. Which is what felt better about the inline skates because their breaks from the back. So it makes more sense that you drag one of your feet backwards to slow you down. Right? Like that was more intuitive. So I agree. I also had trouble with the tow brake configuration. It felt strange to me to do that. So yeah, I seem to remember stopping I mean, again, first and second grade, I wasn't exactly blazing in the skips. Right. Not the speed demon I would later become or what do you remember it was still even at like a moderate speed kind of like, Oh, I got to slow down hard. I got. Yeah, I didn't have that. didn't have that balance that I could do that? Yeah. Yes. Yeah, I like the inline back break. It just made more sense is easier to stop. But you can also just drag your foot on the inline skates to I did that later. But that way your wheels out. Oh, funny. They gotta be careful. You don't do that too much. Because you get wheels that are like a wonky. That's bad. Nobody likes wonky wheels. That's terrible. Your that's your number one takeaway. wonky wheels are terrible. I bet you could get the four wheel look as I said Why? I think you can probably that, I think is what you'd have to do. Sure. It's kind of like sideways a little bit. That friction going on. opinions about roller rink. You know, I was so deeply nostalgia for early 90s. roller skating.

1:18:26

I know. I'm telling you, I'm telling you. Come here for the fare. Gal gal come up. You don't fare and then we'll go skating afterwards.

Collin  1:18:38

Skate networks I also really want one of these like old school skateboard t shirts. That looks just like start never I was sad about if ever I had like remorse for not buying something. It's definitely a skateboard t shirt.

1:18:58

I don't sure there's help you can get for this. No,

Collin  1:19:05

I just need one.

1:19:07

Well I put out I have a Susan put out a call for you on Facebook for anybody to scour their closet to see if they've got one for Yeah,

Collin  1:19:15

well that's true, but they got to add a favor looking to buy whilst doing your summer cleaning if anybody finds a skate port t shirt size extra large

1:19:29

take it I will buy it from you at dollars.

1:19:33

Well that was a weird thing like a while back because I remember going through and I was about to bring up if anyone remembers the Ozark Mountain ducks and so I think I would think I saw them twice. But I do like how cool that was just like like oh we got our own little kill me this was like waiting for like Springfield Cardinals and I mad Yeah, I really I remember I was like, you know, after they shut down, being like, oh man, it'd be super cool if like, you know, get like a hat or something. And I found a company that still like made them. Say, don't you have one? It's somewhere in here that I have an Ozark Mountain ducks. Because of reasons. I just remember like, Oh, yeah, those

Collin  1:20:23

are so cool. I was like, no one's gonna know like, what this is even cooler. It's more hipster points that way, if nobody knows what it is.

1:20:33

So I just wanted to see if that like company in itself is still like, Oh, I just remember how it was like, it can't go. We got like a Ozark Mountain duck hat like, Oh, they still make them. Wow, that would

Collin  1:20:44

have been late 90s to I feel like because that was definitely Middle School. When I went to that, yeah. And I think I went I might have gone to two games. And I do remember that. The first one I went to was I have never seen more foul balls in all my life. Then

1:21:07

it's hockey. Oh my gosh. It was crazy. Remember, that was a problem like people would get hit?

1:21:17

Yeah, a lot. Well, the stadium was pretty terrible, too. But they were only around for five years. It's a weird stadium. Yeah, I didn't know you guys carpark

1:21:30

Pritzker Park and I remember also, at some point in high school, like I Springfield auto club would have these like mini track day things in the parking lot. Because I went with Cory at least once, possibly twice. And they would set up like a little road course. With traffic cones in a huge parking lot.

Collin  1:22:05

And like race through them, like just not like like Time Trial style, like one time. Yeah, go through if they had like categories and classes or cards. And I remember that was a thing because we went and watched it a couple times. Because it's cool to watch. I don't remember what the name of the club that did that was. I feel like he might have driven his car through there one time. Carter did for sure. I know Mr. to. Yeah, his missus. Yeah, exactly. Not the station wagon. He did not drive it. I didn't drive the Volvo through there. Yeah, I think he did that. Yeah, it was kind of cool. Like, they just had it set up in there. And you could like go and look like people and like, hang out with cards. And

1:23:02

it's why people drive their car on parking. Who's neat, man, it was fun. I seem to remember that.

Collin  1:23:15

Yeah, but I don't remember anything about the baseball games, except for the foul balls. I gets it. I always Tim, I think

1:23:24

probably is pretty memorable considering all things considered, you know, given their their record and

Collin  1:23:32

etc. how long they were not there long enough

1:23:37

for five years to be like, like, even I think I went to like three games, which is a lot. five year period, I feel

Collin  1:23:47

less true because I haven't been to a baseball game in a really long time. I don't like live baseball. Again, you have to pay like you have to pay attention otherwise you will get killed with a foul ball. I just will happen. So like, you kind of like can just like zone out and like focus on your hot dog only died. But I mean, you're hitting him with football. It's true. And we I've been a couple of times to the Springfield Cardinals ones because like they do two years ago, like they did like a kid's day. So like a whole bunch of like schools take their kids there for thing where we went for like a map celebration thing. It was awful. I hated it. It was no fun at all. Because we went twice in both years. It just rained. Like poured. It was so awful. I was very vocal about how much fun I was not having to my principal. I was like this is the worst thing I've ever done in my life. Yeah, yeah. It's Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, Yeah, I do. Also, remember this thought just came to my head, a price cutter Park famous For a another event that happened they're not baseball related. No idea. They, they definitely had a concert there one time. Because they're like, Oh, well, we'll just turn it into a concert venue. So bands can come and play anything. And do you know what bands came to play at one festival there one time. This is early 2000s. God, I only know this because one of my friends went

1:25:32

Oh, okay. No, I'm gonna blank. It was definitely Slipknot like, the people that live next sad we're so mad. Even there's a housing development like it is literally right behind and these people let slip out. Yes.

Collin  1:26:08

There's like five huge bands from that time. Like I think like Papa Roach was there. Right? And it's like 2000 like one or two. So popper was like huge, right? Like,

1:26:20

yeah. Yeah, I got it. No, no, this is this is why I remember that concert. Because Linkin Park was there too. Yeah, Park was there. Yeah. So yeah, it's a slip not disturb. Linkin Park, Papa Roach and mudvayne

Collin  1:26:38

Wow, what? Is there a more early 2000s lineup than that? Right there? No, no, there

1:26:46

is not. That's from that's from man. That's insane. Yeah,

Collin  1:26:52

I forgot Linkin Park was there.

1:26:54

That's That's why I I remember that one. Because I was in there. And I had like I had a friend that winter. I just remember hearing. Oh, they're coming down.

1:27:04

Yeah, but my friends Mike Colby went to that thing. He said it was insanity.

Collin  1:27:12

But like, Can you imagine how loud that would be? Like, right next door neighbor. Oh, man, that's that those people were so furious. Because it's extremely residential. Yes, it is. You put mudvayne out there. Somebody didn't know who these people were? I think that'll happen. They're like Yeah, sure. You guys come here and they had no idea who Linkin Park was.

1:27:43

Right? Yeah, I don't know. that normies had no idea they just said oh the spring in the US.

Collin  1:27:52

They Yeah, and boy did it ever I free I seem to recall reading that it was like packed back and what my friend said like he was at jam full in there. I know there's a lot of fighting so yeah, it's all about grubby people and about how much they didn't want to get mundane. Like a midnight in their house.

1:28:20

Yeah. That would be Yeah, you live this your basil here like nothing happens at and all of a sudden there's Slipknot there.

1:28:37

Yeah, when Ozzfest comes to your back door and be like, I'm gonna go not sleep in my house. Yeah. Well, thank you for your opinions on skate parks.

1:28:56
