cyber punk duck sales

We start off with a very important question. How would you sell livestock with VR? We discuss recent events of lockdown and police standoffs, which is uplifting…Aaron is taking both good and bad photos. Collin attended a downtown book walk AND there’s breaking news of an egg hunt success. We still have lots of thoughts about Russia and Ukraine.

Collin  00:04

Welcome to Oh, brother, a podcast of three brothers. Trying to figure it all out with your hosts. Right. Colin? And Aaron. On this week's show, cyber punk duck sails.

00:23

What's going on? Not a lot. How are you? Dizzy? Apparently? Good. It's good. It's one of the things of, again, Lillian understands this a lot better than I do.

00:39

Today, our our team member here in town requested off. And so I was like, Yeah, sure. Like, nothing booked today. And then lots of things happened. And so I was like, I gotta go do all this stuff. And she was like, but what about him? What is he doing? What's like, I know, it's fine. It's gonna be okay. He's taking days off. He's getting duck things or something. Who knows? That actually, actually, you're let me turns out that right now is not a good time to be in the poultry business.

01:13

Because Oh, nice. Exactly. There's a there's a massive wave of the bird flu going around?

Brandon  01:26

Oh, yeah, that's true. I was not thinking in terms of I was not thinking in terms of chickens. But yes. But I learned something that I learned something from number is that, in fact, ducks are carriers of bird flu. But they don't get it. They don't interesting, but they will carry it. And so he's actually on April to snap to sell duck tray now, in person. Did you know how he sells them? prints, pictures of the ducks. And he takes those to swap meets and saleyard? Find the ducks. Pictures. I feel like I feel like an Instagram video would be a much more appropriate way to do this. Right? Because you could like see them. Right? Just take like a video, except you're going to page sales in like rural Missouri. But you can just you can show them on your own phone. Right, as I'm saying. He's like, look here. It's a more accurate representation of the duck. Aaron, would you buy a duck based solely on the picture? Or would you want to see video of said duck? Yeah.

Aaron  02:43

Well, dealing with majority of ag students, they do have websites. Because it is I guess it is appropriate cheap buying time of the year. And so they have like, you can go online and just like buy like images you head on. But as far as like a full on printed picture, like I feel like that's how dad used to buy our chickens and ducks. You just go to like, say like magazine catalog. So yeah, that's kind of how I feel. How we did it.

Brandon  03:20

Fair enough. Yeah, pretty much exactly. Just like buying them out of a magazine except of a magazine. It's a person standing there ever you got to what we're trying to do here is we're trying to push, right, we're trying to push this medium can't like, is it okay to buy a duck from a random like, in my mind, I'm imagining like, printed off from like a home computer printer. So it's like a really pixely janky image of a duck. Yeah, there we go. Probably I mean, it's probably like an actual picture from like, a picture printer or something, you know, but like, I think it'd be easier because it'd be easier to have video and be like, oh, yeah, you can buy this one. Here's it waddling. Can see it moving? You can see that it's not broken. You can you can see this like it's not his wings are like okay, it's moving. All right, you know, that's a fair point. It was just interesting. Here, now he is having to go about selling and ducks right now because of the flu. So I think video is probably the way to go maybe next maybe maybe we can get him into like VR. We can like put on the VR headset. You can go duck sale. Oh my gosh, this is genius. Yeah, that's something like cyberpunk duck sailing right there. Like that's where that's the wave of the future man. VR livestock sales. Dude. Aaron, we got to get on this right now. This is it. This is the next big thing that he was having to spend all day at the sale barn. It was was a brother had said I'm

Collin  05:01

not I believe I think you'd be perfect. It would be so good. Whoa. Yeah. Because then you could just like literally sit in your like in your barn with your duck with that on looking at the docks,

Brandon  05:16

just in your office, right? You just be in your office, he popped thing on checkout, you could like actually, then you could like walk around the cow, right? You could do all the stuff because you could shoot it, like 360 all the way up and like underneath it overtop all the way around. So you could like actually look at all the stuff actually. Yeah, like, like you would do right? You're looking at tight. It's withers. Is that is that that's not a count. I don't know. Aaron. Aaron, what's another counter we can use?

Aaron  05:51

Sorry, I'm, I'm doing laundry. Well, I had to have my students draw up a diagram on my whiteboard explaining how it failed work. So I can I have no idea how or what anything is that they talked about? Like how they have to shear and go often? And I'm like, Are you just making a board right now? There's no what you have to do so much.

Brandon  06:13

More, more terms than I know. But yeah, you could do that, like Boston or blouson or something Boston Heiser. And you could? Yeah. Show that off in your cow. And then Ben and I guess maybe maybe we could have it like then then with with bigger drones, you could just have the large drone drop off the couch report. I don't know that. Kind of that we're not quite ready for that yet. But, I mean, I mean, you could have a drive basically, in about in about a year, it's probably going to be a driverless semi just like showing up. Like, here's your six cows, boom, buy, like whatever. off Amazon VR livestock tab. or wherever, I don't know, like, livestock hub, like the, the stock yard or like the Joplin stock yard just has like 75 billion driverless semis. Yeah, I mean, that's really that's actually it's, it's gonna be more efficient for them to have more trucks and then just make like, individual deliveries than it is to be like, Okay, well, I'm gonna drive to this one house. Drop off these four cows and then drive to this other house and drop off these eight. Nap. Just blam. There you go. Got it. Exactly. Yeah. And so and then yeah. And then you just go from there. I think this is this really is the wave of the future.

07:39

Like a movie. Anyway. Very exciting. And make a day we got a new neighbor, our neighbor we have a new neighbor in

Brandon  07:52

the house that always a tumultuous time, right. The new neighbor, new neighbor, to get to be good. It's gonna be weird. I know. Be like, Yeah, I know. We've been we've been watching him from our house. The entirety not kidding. That's not better. College has been like, awkwardly like, opening the blinds. Right? Like, really? aggressively. Release. I've had to sweep the board a lot today. Yeah. times out there sweeping the board. Hand trimming my grass with like little clipper shears. Oh, no.

08:29

No, that's gonna be fine. It's good. I said hi to him. exchanged phone numbers with them already. Look at this. Look, I'm looking at me being neighborly. That's weird. Like, whatever here and we both know that Colin went up to him and said, Hey, my name is My name is Colin, how many pets do you have?

Aaron  08:48

Because I already know the answer to that. Because this is just a neighbor that like, right next door. Is this like a neighbor like across the street or?

Brandon  09:01

No, I am. I am in my office. I'm looking out my window at his roofline right now. Okay, yeah. Next door. He has one dog barks. And it's a little annoying, but it's okay. Fine. It's fine. Did you did you detail for him? What you do and why you have 1000 times? I mean? I mean, I I, too. I feel like it needed more opening than the 13 seconds that I had because he was like getting into his car when I

09:32

ran over to him so awkwardly chase him down. I was running down after the street. I want to say hi. No, it's good, though. Oh, yeah, no, I had another story about that. But I don't remember.

Brandon  09:50

My pocket. That's all the excitement is. No, Aaron, Aaron, what have you been up to? So last weekend, we engaged on pictures. Yeah. And we got, we got most of them back.

Aaron  10:11

And that was kind of fun. We did that Saturday. In April, my school goes to only four days a week, because we've accumulated so many snow days. So they're like, let's just use these for the rest of the year. So having a short week is amazing.

Brandon  10:33

It's kind of nice to actually, like, get time to actually enjoy things. But since it is baseball season, that is sometimes usually short lived. So

Aaron  10:45

I developed a pattern of jumping back and forth between softball or is that focused softball and baseball. But typically, wherever I am at, you have the team that loses, or they want to go back to the other team to help the other team loses. And so my

Brandon  11:02

need has skyrocketed. And so we have districts coming up, which is probably going to be over pretty quickly, because it likes to do like that seems in our

11:18

class level in the States. So that'll be fun. Let's see what else we want to walk down on Wednesday.

Brandon  11:28

That was fun. And then baseball game softball game tournaments. And then this kind of challenge, though. Yeah, that's been been my week.

Aaron  11:38

Yeah, we had to go on lockdown on Thursday. So I'm just gonna blame you for this. Like, the whole thing is to both of you. So let me I mean, I mean, so when things go wrong, like, what our what that time is. And a bunch of our students are like, Hey, I, like our parents are calling us. And we have gotten call them but like, it was like everybody's parents. And so I was like, well, that's weird. And the moment I said that, like, fix, like County Sheriff's just like, blew past my window. And I was like, Well, I have a feeling it's something about that. And so wherever my school said, two blocks, up the street, there's where our new basketball and volleyball team is. And it's kind of like a big parking lot. And just like a gym in the middle wasn't actually in front of the gym called home, by the way. And turns out there was a hostile situation. And it was a standoff for about like, 11 o'clock for that for and and I had to take a bus route that day was intravenously that bus route in question drove drives right by where all the stuff was that like there was like 50 police cars just like, what's the word? perimeter around this facility? And there was like, teams and all this stuff. And so I made the decision of like, Hey, if you live in this area, just come pick up your kids. We got a situation of Oh, sweet, I won't have to drive any kid home. No, I had to drive one to home. And I had to drive like right by were all of a sudden happening. Thankfully, they kind of showed me around like a block away, but to be safe. What was going on? So drop the kid off, went back and then drop us off walking to my car. And then the conference arms. He's like, hey, you need to get the other kid. Like okay, so I go back to the bus. Let's go to the other school pick up this one kid. And I was like, Alright, where do you live? Like I don't know. I'm on the phone with the principal now out small channels and then they never know. Yeah, it was a very long way off. And I went ahead and got the head off. If I went like a foot over like I would see like a like for like over a hill. Like there's like six top was like standing there. So I'd like drop the kid off like I look with a knife. Just go straight inside. Not oh nothing just go and he's like okay, and just springs inside and cycle like Creek forward and like back this gigantic park on a driveway. And like I'm just like slowly edging the nose like up this hill and like all the top attorney look at me and I'm like, oh, sorry. You're busy. I can see that. This is normally I'm just gonna you know do this way Don't you know?

Brandon  14:41

Yeah, just kick the can off and I work at home and by the time I got dumped about the situation has been dealt with. It was from the news is like a helicopter spawned over. And yeah, you know the typical things and all found out Emma, is it difficult and mildly worrying? We went on a soft lockdown. Which is kind of weird to think in a sense, but it was like,

Aaron  15:16

at our school, we have the Ag building, and bam the building and cafeteria like separate. And so like all the kids had to be escorted to and from we did like, we consolidated and just had those classes come to the main school. And so we didn't have like, a bunch of kids roaming around. And yeah, it was a it was interesting. I was not expecting my day to go like that. But yeah, and then we had a couple games baseball games. And then yeah, districts coming up, which are on the same days. Ah, so that'll be fun. But I think I was volunteer to come work. Caray? Yeah, that's been a, that's an hour week. Baseball season is usually when a chaotic is either home games, and I get home decent or away game. Like I get home like late. So and our schedules keep fluctuating. So I know like, the days we're going to have games, but I don't know, like, where we're going to have

Brandon  16:19

games. And so it makes sense. If people cancelled, so we're gonna go to this place, which happens to be like an hour and a half away. So

Aaron  16:31

all right, get on the bus. Really? No, no. Yeah, they like some of the places that like I know. I'm like, okay, yeah, that's not that bad. Right down the road. But then like, like, get the phone call, like, hey, our fields bad. We're gonna cancel. And then immediately, like another school call, like, Hey, I heard you didn't have a game. Come play us. And then my administration says yes. That's like, you know, they're like, two hours away. And they're like a class for a school, which were like, class B. Oh, no.

Brandon  17:04

No, no, sir. See what you can do. So get on there. Their teeth kicked in dry back.

17:10

And people start wondering why we're like, three and six. Right now. So baseball season the weird.

Brandon  17:20

We're having fun. Are you driving all over? Everywhere else? Playing people big. It's not a charter bus. But it is like an older travel but it's always a significantly bigger than like a yellow school bus. Oh, yeah. You only have like 13 kids. And we feel like we have a take it that everything

Aaron  17:47

was pathetic. By Roll up, roll up. And it's like really big. But my two kids get off.

Brandon  17:55

And softball, if I go to softball, we have like, just 13 and but we take like the little bus, like little activity bus. My dad isn't easy to drive, whatever. It's

18:05

got a headache. Like, oh, we gotta get the big bus. So my CD yelling has been put to good use.

18:14

All right. I'll take a picture of it. Like how monstrous responses. But yeah, that's been my week. In a nutshell. It's more manageable now. It's like, got more into routine of things.

Brandon  18:44

Brandon, you went on. You went on full lockdown for how long? I mean, I don't know if it was fall was about 30 minutes. I guess. They were just like, there's a suspicious person outside. That's all the information I got. So it was like it was just like, handled merely like it was they were in our wing of the school. We get like, my wing has high school and then the this we're technically elementary school classes, like mixed together. So like there, can't they? And I'll say first over that high school intercom. I can't hear that in my room because it plays in the hallway. Which is good because I don't want to hear the high school announcements. Every single day. No one wants that. No one wants to hear High School announcements gross. So like they announced it first there and so we're like, what they say. I don't know what happened. And then they now saw the tree school. But they were like, chill there was like, Hey, stay in the classroom. Like all right. That's the code for like, you know, generally, it's just a vague like, hey, everybody stay in your classroom until we say, that could be a number of things. Right? That could be like, medical could be like, they're doing a locker search, right? Like, who knows? So, it was just a lot of like, QA. I wonder what's going on. And the kids are like, Hey, what's going on? is like, I don't know. Like you know? stuff. Not sure exactly. So, you know, it was, it was fine. But like, so we're just upstairs since we're upstairs and we're like, really far away from anything. I was like, well, we're just gonna work on our presentations are due tomorrow. So just hang out. We're good. Like, we just lock the door and they came by and checked on us. The principal came by, she was doing the rounds check in like, you got the right like, yeah, like, she told me that's what it was. Like, when they came in, right. She came by she told me that like, Hey, this is what's up, like, Okay, thanks. We're just gonna work on our Greek gods presentation plan over so. Yeah, I mean, so just weird. Like, yeah.

21:26

Could you like give me email? Tell me what's up. That'd be handy. Yeah, nice. We got a little bit of communication going on.

Brandon  21:36

Yeah, later, like, hey, it's no big it's resolved. I don't know what that means. I guess it was like nothing, I'm assuming. But like, that's I got sick. All right. Bye. Okay, well, we're gonna just hang out here and do a presentation thing.

21:56

Whatever. So. Yeah. I was blaming Aaron. I was like, this is Aaron's fault, because he said this yesterday. Now.

Aaron  22:05

Here I am. And I was telling some my my sixth graders were like, they weren't like worried, but they're like, a little freaked out. But I was like, Guys, look, I got a story for you. Like my first year teaching. We went on lockdown. Like for like, two hours. Because they're like, hi, CJ. Then this guy, like, drove like through the parking lot of the school and like, broke a fence at our playground. They're like, Oh, that was so terrible, but don't get worse. And I hope you brace yourself for that sounds like the students I had. Were sixth graders. And all my students like Yeah, or like

22:46

the moment we want to lock out i for him after he goes to the bathroom. It was a traumatic experience. So like, Oh, we're so sorry. You're so brave. I was like

Brandon  22:55

That was awful. Like, I was like we had this like, barricade the door. You had to turn the lights off and go in the corner. In the moment we get in the corner Oh yeah, that was nightmare. Yeah, they they did start conspiratorial. lysing this right, like, well, what if we had to escape? Like, one second floor? We're not escaping anywhere. Like we could jump out the window. I was like, no, no. I was like, we're gonna be safer in this room. They're like, well, what if somebody comes in this room? I was like,

23:37

I have a classroom full of shovels and rocks we find exactly, guys, it'd be right. Because they always tell you behave. Don't fly back. Like to like what do we throw? And what do you think

Brandon  23:52

we're gonna throw? Come on. Look at that shelf over there. Look, that's what we're

Collin  23:58

gonna be fine. Do your work. It tells me about Zeus please. Let's. Yeah. Okay, is. This is this actually is an interesting week because I didn't think I had anything to share on this topic.

24:11

But I do. So this was Wait, when did all this stuff happen for you guys was Thursday

Brandon  24:19

and Friday. Wednesday and Thursday. errands was Wednesday. Mine was Thursday. Yeah, right. Yes. Friday? No, yeah, we had this was no, this was when this was Wednesday. Oh my gosh, this was Wednesday. Okay, so I am at home. I get a phone call it from my employee who lives here in town. And I was like, weird that this person is calling me. They. Why are they texting me? I pick up and he says, Oh, hey, the talks fine. I'm fine. I did have a call. And I went, it was like, I'm sorry. What? And he was like, yeah, no, I'm fine. Dogs. Fine, but I did. I did have to call the cops. Like, you're gonna have to fly Isn't that a little bit more?

25:01

That's a that's a mildly worrying lead. I mean, at least he led with the dogs fine. Right? That's good, I guess. But like, like I didn't want him

Brandon  25:08

to lead with. I had to I call it the cops. Like, I have a lot more questions. So we need to get that. Yeah. Quick fact out of the way in the move forward. Yeah. He was like, Well, I was, I was walking. And I heard some people yelling in the front yard. And then they both threw guns on each other. And right there in the street, in their front yard. So I got out of there really fast. And I was like, Where were you? And I realized where he was walking. I was like, There's no way these people did not see him because he was like, literally getting in the middle of a field. where the where the path goes through, and I was like, Oh, no. That was just like, man, that'd be really awkward. You're in a, you're in a, you know, like a confrontation with your neighbor and you pull your guns on each other. You look over and there's just like a dude in a field with a dog. staring at you. Like

26:03

I'm done by me guys. I'm going this way. Actually, everything's cool. So I got out of there, and I called the cops whenever I was safe. And I was like, okay, and he said, Yeah,

Brandon  26:11

I can go there. Sirens now they're on my way. And I was like,

26:14

Do you feel safe to leave? Are you okay? Okay. He's like, Yeah, I

Brandon  26:19

figured what's the cops get here? I'll just go the other two other way. Like, good plan. Good plan. And then I had him send a screenshot of where he was. Because where happened so that we could avoid that? Yeah, right. Like, don't walk down there. That's gonna happen, like twice in a row at the same place. Like, I don't know. But yeah, I mean, true.

26:44

Stories. This is this is fascinating. Yes. That's right. The only other interesting story I have this week from school is the fact that we had a tornado drill on Friday. And it was definitely snowing.

Brandon  27:01

It was it Friday. was so crazy. I told the kids I was like, we're going outside than 45 It's cold out there people. Yeah. So they, they weren't in special classes. Right. You know, so they weren't with me. They weren't by their lockers. I was like, it's going to be cold. You're going outside? If you have a hoodie or

27:27

something, I should probably take it with you. That was what that's what I implied. I did not specifically say take your jacket perhaps I should have. Sorry, children. But like they got over there. They're like, it's so cold. I told you like I told you. We knew it was snowing before we could live right. And we talked we talked about this in class we we looked outside with Oh, dear. It's snowing.

Brandon  27:50

Yeah. Remember, remember that conversation about that? snowing? Yeah, we were we were funnily enough talking about precipitation. I was like, Oh, look. How about that candy? visual demonstration of what I'm talking about. Here they live and in person. Oh, yeah, that was I was very, I was very displeased by that there was a point in time where it was, it was it was sunny 36 and actively snowing. And I was like, I don't like this day anymore. Anyway, I don't know about you. But down here. The morning was crazy. Right? Like so we had to get my brains in weather mode. So I'm like looking at clouds all the time. Now. It's how it works. So we had these like super huge cloud bank, like for the cold front, you know? But it was south of me.

28:53

Okay, so when I'm driving to work I'm driving towards it. But when the sun is coming up, it isn't over there in the East yet.

Brandon  29:01

So the sun rays are actually shining under the cloud bank. Oh, whoa.

29:07

Oh, it was crazy because you have this like super dark like menacing like clouds but then the ground

Brandon  29:13

under it is brightly lit because the sun is such a low angle coming from the it was cool. Like oh my god this is awesome. Like that's awesome. It looks super awesome. But uh so that was really cool like massive cold front clad bank or whatever and then like the sun was just they just like it was like shining under it because it was so low.

29:44

Do you get it was like just brightly illuminating all these fields to the field because springtime is like super green. And all this stuff. It's in the cloud above. It's like black. like

Aaron  29:55

that to me. is cool. I, I can't I can't add too much to the letter because Thursday it was like, if the butthead like at least 40 miles an hour wind, and then Friday,

Brandon  30:13

we had a it was like 30 Like, no clouds in the sky. And it was like 50 miles an hour away. So we, we, we at the Empire, like a group called this game you'd like, you want to drive back out here like, no fairpoint just Just kidding. So we played Oh, softball that day. And, you know, with slowpitch softball, you toss the ball, and it's slower velocity, but the wind kept like carrying it, because like, I mean, typically that What about is like a ball, but I'm gonna call it a G's. Like Ariat, like 20 extra feet, and we're like, how have we play this? Oh, yeah, that was you got to tell them. It was like it was snowing and sleeting. I was like, but

Aaron  31:07

my car is blowing way right now.

Brandon  31:09

I know. Thursday was super windy here Thursday and Friday to like, crazy. Wow. Susan just heard me talking. So she sent me some pictures that she took it away. So I just forwarded them to you by the way. There you go. contributions from all right. Excellent. I do taking pictures. This is from a tournament that we did like a week ago, and I asked the photographer specifically like, Hey, I get like one of those cool, like, action coating stocks and said, Oh, don't worry, I got you. These

Aaron  32:01

are not requiring.

Brandon  32:04

Oh, no. What is that? Before this comes through? I want to know what you had in mind. Like what was your vision? Like, you know, like me cheering or clapping or high fiving a player? Or like it was something that you were being over there on the first day plan like super stoic? No, I get like, whatever this is Aaron that look at the like, WTF like, it looks like you're about to Riot Act, Mike. And, and importantly, you're standing still, this is not an action shot, right? Context. That kid is probably like, my favorite. But like I have worked with them since the beginning of the year on like, I thought he was one of my football players. And like, he got he got first name all captain, all Americans here in Oklahoma, for eight man football. And like, he was like, top defensive player of the year and everything for our district and stuff. So I've worked with him since football. And so like he he's a good kid who works hard, he would literally run through a brick wall. But that game, he was just like,

Aaron  33:20

he was just off. And so that picture, I don't look mad, because he knows that I don't get mad at him. Like we literally work through things like his home life, not great and everything. And I'm literally telling him a story. And I was like it was one of these, like, I'll go over there to the junior varsity softball team. And I'll pick up one of those girls and replace you if I have to. Like if they bought better than you. Like, he's not gonna be happy. He's like, No,

33:49

you think you think gold will be better than me? Like, you think I'll actually do that? And I'm like, No, they won't do that.

Brandon  33:56

You're batting next. We got better than that game, but he's stronghold. So yeah, that picture in question. To me just joking with him.

Aaron  34:09

Also, just thing because I, according to the caption, you're giving him a pep talk. That's what's happening. Are you kidding me? Look, look. The funny thing is, is I gotta find a problem. But the players have like these gigantic sunglasses like, cute, right? So I didn't I didn't bring my sunglasses that day. Because at our school, it was like 40 and cloudy. But then we get here and it's like 60 and 70. I was like, how does this work? And so I had to borrow these gigantic sunglasses from my players. And I looked super goofy to sit over there with heat maps and sunglasses on my face. And thankfully, I took them off that picture. I specifically said like, Hey, I get one of those school life coaching like action shots. It's

34:57

like oh, hey, I got you and then that My favorite part is that you're clearly standing still, there's no action. You're not

Brandon  35:07

like doing the wild arm movement, like go to second, right? I was expecting something like that. That's right, like a first base coaching like pointing or like clapping somebody on the back of the database hit you know what I mean? Like, this is just like staring and to be fair, we really thought that game I think the final score was like 21 to one. So we didn't get on base like that much. Let's come on. I'm gonna I'm gonna send her like, stock footage photos from like, Google, like me. Give me that her come back and be like, well get on Basten. Come on. Give me more to work with. Yeah. Yeah. At least a picture of you clapping right, that would have been better. Like,

35:54

like a de Les Miles clap when they're at bat. Like yeah, come on. That's what you gotta get. Like something? Yeah, this is you staring at again. My softball teams like, Oh, you made the the new? Uh huh.

Collin  36:10

We're not talking about anyone mentions the picture they're running. That's, that's kind of like, we went to her in town. We went to a park, or whatever, where they were like, hey, bounce houses stuff. The park was the parkour was putting it on. And we went and attended. We were sitting in the grass eating and blah, blah. And the next day, my co workers came in, and they're like, hey, saw you in the paper. And I was like, what? I look over, and they got a shot of me like mid bite of a hot dog. And I just, like, the most like, horrid human being on the face the earth as

Brandon  36:49

like, that's what they like, really? Like, oh, that's awful. So that we cut them out sitting on their refrigerator now. So I couldn't be reminded of that every day. To always be on guard when eating in public. I was like, how am I Yeah, so now anyway, I've developed complex and very proud of breaking news, breaking news. In the notes, I'm going to write Aaron. Bad photo. Okay. This is interesting, because I have a note here sign Aaron's good photo, but we just go in breaking news, our town is doing preparation, Easter, something that they've done previous years, where they hide an Easter Bunny, little figurine and an Easter egg, somewhere around town. Oh, that's cool. Actually. Yeah, it's actually the historic hotel here in town. And they, they put it out with a picture that's like really close up on the egg and the bunny, and was just like a little tiny glimpse the background, and then they use the three hints about us today. Like to like, whatever. And the children and Megan just returned triumphantly. Having found one app. Hey, they were Hey, fiving. Noah right now, I think gratulations job, great job good find. Which I think I love those kinds of things. And I think it's really fun that they'd put that on around town and it gets people out and kind of like more. Like, they're kind of silly city landmarks, but they're places that locals will know or recognize them in. Yeah. Which makes it really nice.

38:39

That you can that you can figure it out. Well, it also it's not like some random ditch somewhere like where's it at? Oh, who knows? Like, exactly. It's not like some could be anywhere. Or something like Latin long. It's. Yeah. Like a geocache. Right? Like it's inside this random sign. Ah,

Brandon  39:00

good luck. Yeah. So it's kind of like a little riddle, with some hints and stuff. And it's usually pretty, pretty fun. So anyway, they just breaking news here from the household.

Collin  39:11

Hey, Oh, sweet. Do you win a prize? Or do you just like, yeah, gift cards? I don't know what we have sweet talk with Team later.

Brandon  39:19

All right, but that's their stuff with little prizes. Sweet. Well, I was gonna tell you about something else that the town library is doing. And I love this idea, as well. The library is putting on a downtown book walk. You heard of these? No. Okay. What they do is they get a book. And they

Collin  39:49

it's actually a book that they they copy the pages such that they're too on either side and they make a big long, kind of like little poster and they hang it in shop windows. do you go from shop to shop to read the story? And then

Brandon  40:05

you kind of walk through downtown and each one of their windows is another segment of the story. Like keep reading go to stop number three. And you can enter win prizes with this where you go into the shop, they sign the little card thing. We went and we did that today. So you'd like a check in station? Yeah. Yeah, like a racism thing that you can go and just be the story of Yeah, but like,

40:35

but since there's there's a prize on the line, we got like a short story. Clear. This isn't Moby Dick.

Brandon  40:40

It's hanging on the wall, right? Like me, these are grapes of wrath. Grace, right. Maybe it's the outsiders. It's a good story. So there were 18 stops on this one. And that's all it took to work the book. And they did one

Collin  41:01

they have one that's on rotation at one of our parks here. There have a walking trail all the way around the park and they install these little waterproof podium things that they do their Oh, yeah. But they didn't sell the new one downtown and they're getting together different businesses and stuff for the duration of it, so you can go and talk to them. That was a lot of fun. I went into stores that I had never been in before. And there's a vinyl store here in town. So just so you know, Brandon,

Brandon  41:36

all this and how our How is that a thing? It's all vinyl. And talk to that guy. He was really fun to ask him. How did not did not expect that's kind of weird. Just walk in and be like,

41:58

Oh, how's this one dude? I mean, like, how do you sustain this business model of selling the most outdated thing ever that only nice people want to buy in a small town in Missouri.

Collin  42:09

Exactly. I know that we also got to go into our local music store. I don't really sell instruments and band stuff and we got to talk to them. And one of the barber shop that's been in business for over 70 years.

Brandon  42:24

That was kind of fun. That's the barber that only knows three haircuts. Yes. Yeah. But it wasn't it wasn't too bad All right, that was I liked that

42:39

very much I think more people that's kind of cool nice Gavin's you're hunting Colin that's what's been happening colleges scavenging all the hunts look I was

Brandon  42:57

trying to think why you're saying that it's like why would people put that in our town? I think like four places like I don't know if they're kind of spread out in the has to be right yeah, that's like we have like our downtown they're doing a lot to revitalize the downtown thing like all this stuff that's down there none of it's like stuff I want to go to like they do this they're some of the minions should have but they are doing this incorrectly where the the last building down there that had a weird like front on it you know, they take it they took it off it was like a concrete front that was put on like a long time ago they're taking it off so it's like underneath is like all the brick in the original building of of I hate the bank maybe and so like they just now that's what they've been doing out there. They're taken out off saved forever but

Collin  44:01

yeah, we exactly well, that's really cool. We have several buildings downtown that still have that plaster facade that was placed over the brick and they are a couple of buildings that are working on that as well.

Brandon  44:15

I think getting taking stripping that away and getting back back to the brick I think is really I really liked that look a lot better. Yeah, well it looks weird to there was only one right like all the rest of a break is that and this one's just like a gray

44:29

box blob weird but okay, but like I don't know what's in it like

Brandon  44:36

you know what I mean? Like the buildings look really cool now and there's like a lot of cars down there I guess.

44:41

I don't know what they're doing. Like go scroll down to like I don't know the pharmacies there is a bunch of down there. Oh, I got though. I don't know exactly. Like the text dude.

Brandon  44:59

He's over there. Now kind of off the side but still like yeah, we have a lot of of attorneys that have their offices. And they like it. Yeah.

Collin  45:19

And several antique places. Oh, there's a there's a game shop that does like d&d stuff. All right. Yeah. Which I think is interesting. We did not get to go on that one because I was close there's

Brandon  45:33

one of those open here. And like it was an old gas station, I think because they've had that they've had one of those here like twice and they don't stay up and I don't know I don't know how much business is doing to have like I'm the last one did like other board games Yeah, like Warhammer and like Magic the Gathering and d&d Probably. I don't know how active it is. See? Yeah, that's the thing is I I see the businesses come in and I'm like hi, how are you making this work? I yeah, I mean, I don't know maybe maybe people or maybe there's a lot of Magic the Gathering playing happening here. I don't really know

Collin  46:19

what some of it is to is doing online order and fulfillment that way

Brandon  46:24

oh, I mean, that's true. I thought about that with vinyl guy. Right like just kind of be doing something like that because like how one time any records there were ever a lot of did you look at him with any good ones. Are they just like I mean, I looked at the same ones that you find it like there's like 40,000 Willie Nelson ones like you see and like the antique Mark was an entire section to Pete Townsend. Ah, well okay. That's the only one that caught my eye and I went over and I flipped through and I was like to keep going. There's a lot of a lot of people who do

47:06

that. Put this many records out Pete I didn't know that. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass me like that. I think I don't know how many of

Brandon  47:13

those were like original records or like special editions or I still didn't know that same thing Yeah, that was that was interesting. I'm trying to get anything else obviously to the bike shop. Clearly yes, you're the one so you do go to one sorry. But I think more towns need to do that official that's very cool. Call my business bureau and say hey, got a plan for you guys. There's a they have it it's a downtown not consortium but consortium of businesses now I guess it is because it's called they're called the venues of downtown who are on like Main Street that main street because Main Streets Main Street but there's another street called Oh yeah, like the downtown street right yeah, the main drag versus Main Street like that. You know, they are all part of this like downtown business alliance basically they do this kind of stuff together and this brings to mind my conversation with my neighbor who talked a lot about kind of the downtown versus the like a big box side of of most small towns have like this tension between them and and how you have to he was very much along the lines of like gotta pick a side and I was like I'm very aggressive stance of you taking on this like, oh, no, he was very much like like, you're not like you're not buying from small business like I was like Yeah, hold this dude. Nope, nobody downtown sells 36 pack of toilet paper that's awesome. That's true. See there has to be balanced because like yeah, they sell stuff but like is it stuff I actually want? No, no. Okay, well then I mean, I I understand that to like our town we just they just built a new Dollar General cool. I don't know why they did that. There was already like two times really disappointed. I

Aaron  49:29

was like, oh, save that build a new building here when I was going to be no Dollar General blame, and I can't really complain because the town that I teach in was in discussions of having a new dollar general or putting in a another as a sensory so that

Brandon  49:49

people like trying to, like the brainy business and but there was a big hubbub a few weeks ago. They're like, Well, I think we need to have a to dispensary It'll bring you know, to help bring competition and people like what are you talking about? No one smokes that much weed to the town right? So Snoop Dogg move there. What the heck man was? Once you know. That's my town that I teach in. Yeah, I don't I don't know whether about the Dollar General of all things. Like, I guess I don't you know, that wasn't the town that decided to do that right? It was $1 General. But there are $2 generals here. Susan did go in there the other day. And I was like, what does the Dollar General look like knew? Because the only ones I've ever been gross, and like, don't like order. And like all weird. Because like after about five minutes, they're just the most unorganized thing in the world. Right? Like, oh, you can't find anything in there. Because the town I teach and they had one because they built it. It's a few years old now. And I went in there when it was new. I was like, Whoa, this is weird. And then like now it's like, disaster zone.

Collin  51:05

Like just stuff everywhere. Like whatever. Like we have four, we have $4 generals, which is the last town that is alive. And $1 tree. Which we also have that that's weird. Why do we have five these kinds of stores?

Brandon  51:27

But yeah, and like you can see both of them from the Walmart sounds like how do people shop? I mean, I don't know. But again, like you said, like they're a service the need of like, the, your everyday stuff. Exactly. Right. And the downtown stores are good for like, specialized things. You know, like a bike shop. Right is a good example. Because like, do you want to buy all your bike parks at Walmart? Oh, no, you don't? Nobody want that. Yeah, they don't want to do like, I have to order them on Amazon. I have no place else to buy them. Yeah, so if I need a tool, or I need a thing, I have to buy it online. Because whatever they sell Walmart is gonna be not good. It's gonna break right? And so it's gonna be like horrible. So like I have to do you don't have another option? Because like, you know who else is gonna do that here. So Dubai with a sweet part tools like three way allen key things are just awesome. Dude. That's the great thing of all time. It was fantastic. I know. I just thought because I rode my bike today a little while ago. Like actually, I was outside riding around with Susan was walking and I came inside and it was 530 and I was like, run and but we're doing a wellness challenge at work. So I was like, Yo, I guess I should probably dust the bike off at the garage from the winter time and yeah, I want to bike guys nice day job. Uses tighten up all my handlebar bolts and everything. Make sure they're good. One of them was distractingly lever sounds like a good thing. I did that.

53:18

That's definitely one of the preflight checks. Yeah. If I turn will this is one of the ones on the like the, the stem the you know,

Brandon  53:31

the Barclay one the stem, like one of them was like, Oh, I was like, wow, that turned a lot. I Oh, dear. Oh, no, that's not good. Oh, I do that. Well, yeah, I'll be doing that more. Yeah. Getting into that season. That is yes. Yes. So I did it last weekend. That was bad. Bad, but like, my legs were like, what was that? Why? Like, no, that's not okay. What did you do that. But today was much, much better today. So let's get going a bit so. Well, I think we had I think we were nominally supposed to do it yet. Another Ukraine week challenge this week. Don't think we have time to start that. All right. We can save it. So we will save that for next week. And we'll do that. And because unfortunately, things aren't really changing all that much. The grand scheme. Yeah, that's disgusting, man. It's like that. It's gross. I

54:58

can't just It's one of those things where it's just dragging, dragging on, but

Brandon  55:05

like it's really grinding on. Is it turning just straight ugly now? And yeah, it's I run out of superlatives to make to really describe exactly how all that is. Right now. Yeah, it's gross. Like, the in I know controversially right, like, because all this like geopolitical maneuvering and stuff, but like, the things that the Russian army is doing currently are 1,000%. Unacceptable. In my opinion, right. Like, yeah, missile attacks on train stations.

55:47

Get out what it says. Right? Yeah, like trails of bodies in the street when your vet get.

Brandon  55:54

No, yeah. I know. I know some listeners to be like, Yo, Brandon. Don't you know, the US has done that in the past? And I'm here to tell you yes. It when they did. I was curious. Right? How Bosnia thing angry. I was in sixth grade. And I was mad about that. Right? I'm in the military because aspirin factory get out of your stomach. So like, I understand, like, this is not okay. If you don't like it, any of it. And I you know, it's just really frustrating. Like the Oh, will we're doing this like, No, clearly, that's just super effective. Look what you're doing. Look at how many people's families have died, because you're like, Well, we're

56:39

going to stop buying Russian gas like, okay, good, but also, but also this. Yeah. And I know, people will say things like, well, that's just war, right? No, that's not.

56:51

No, it's not it's bombing a train station full of fleeing civilians is not just war.

Collin  56:57

Right. I this is

57:00

I think we can take we'll take the real controversial stance on that one and say no, that's Yeah, yeah. They might disagree with me on that. You're just wrong, man. I don't care, you know?

Brandon  57:10

Yes, shooting missiles is somebody's grandma. Oh, man. Wow, what a strong war you you are exactly. Right. Like, that's exactly my thoughts. There's just so many. Yeah, just straight up war crimes and atrocities of go through with that. Yeah. Just needless. The listeners have a good boy. This is ridiculous. It's just so it's so it's like mind bogglingly ridiculous. Like, I

57:44

don't understand why you do that. But I mean, I know exactly why you would do that. Right? Because you're going for the total victory, right? You're demoralizing the enemy. That's all you're doing? Right? By engaging in the quote, total war,

Brandon  57:59

right? I'm just saying, I'm just gonna bomb literally everything. What's not cool, man? Ah, this is the 21st century. We don't need to do that. Right. It's different. Like it's mildly different. If you think about it in context of like, you know, the 1940s. Okay, when your bomb was like, Yeah, you know, you just had to, like, drop it from 45,000 feet and hope it hit something. Right? That's mildly different. It's still not cool. But it's different. Now, when you could like, you hit a train station with a rocket that is 1,000% on purpose,

58:38

but they don't. But they they're not a modern army. Right? They're the I know, it's so weird. It's bizarre,

Brandon  58:46

that they're this. This goes, threat and mindshare of power. But they're not a modern in any way, shape, or form. And that's so, so confusing right now are like you said, they're the same as in the 40s. And it's a blitzkrieg tactic. This is exactly what the Adolf did when he invaded like, France. 100% like roll the tanks through super fast lightning quick. Right? That's what the that's what that will do. That's what it was.

59:16

Like, it didn't work at first, like, Oh, now what? But you're right. It's like not a modern thing. It's so confusing. Like, this goes back to what I said, the first time we talked about this was like,

Brandon  59:31

when, like, historically, Russia does things. And you look at it you go Why didn't you do it that way? That's the weird, like, this, unfortunately, is another thing in that category of like,

59:47

QA. That's so dumbfounding. The odd that you would do that. Like I don't understand. Like he's just so like confusing and weird. And the weird thing is it's work Before still, right like in in was it Georgia worked in Georgia. Just shock and awe you thrown of bodies at it you beat and demoralize the people, you're attacking. Right? Like, that's all

Brandon  1:00:14

and I know that it's because the Georgians and the Chechens is a much much, much much, much, much smaller country and armed forces. Yeah. So it worked there, like your bullying tactic work much more efficiently. Right. And then this which is like

Collin  1:00:30

it's so it's so odd. so odd. We will, we will. We will take this internet next week and we will celebrate more about Ukraine. And we will lift our spirits with learning about them in their culture even more true. Right about that.

1:00:48

Is that have you watched? Did you watch any movies by the way? Just a preview? Preview? Yes. But the whole backs I did two. Okay. I watched a couple. One of them was like, What am I actually watched three. One of them I leave right down because I was like, I have no clue. I have no idea what this is. My memory space was wild. Great, but anyway, there will be more. More about that. Sorry about that. We will do that. We'll do that next week. Okay. All right. Okay. Yeah. Let's start with that next week. Love you guys. Love you.

1:01:25

Bye
