Welcome to Oh,
00:07
brother, a podcast of three brothers trying to figure it all out with your hosts, Brandon, Collin and Aaron on this
00:18
week show capitalism in the kitchen Hello Hi.
00:29
Oh sure
00:32
what is up? What's going
00:34
on? Yeah, what it was just do this thing is one thing. This thing this thing
00:42
the other thing did you do thing dot dot dot Tango today? Oh, I don't want to Oh the things so what what's what's different about this thing?
00:56
I don't know
00:58
what should be different about this No. Are we are we doing over a different recording? Or is it the same thing? Hey, back. Hello are sorry. Um I hit something weird in it like that will happen. But I got it figured out. Welcome. Okay, well hello. Greeting a little thing popped up and I was trying to close out my other window, my like YouTube window and then it came up but it came up muted which is unusual. And so I was trying to find the unmute button. Oh, struggling frantically where'd it go? That may have been that may have been me I've been messing with settings. No, I think it was because I it normally says join with whatever when it comes to certain but I clicked on I clicked like off of something else I think right when I was doing that, and it just made that thing go away. So I was like no What
02:03
I found it dun
02:07
dun indeed.
02:12
So what's up
02:14
Aaron? Ah been working this week.
02:22
Lots of fun fantasy
02:26
catching up. I've been playing hours into it and then I realized not even out of mid Gar yet. just met Eric. She's so pretty. Oh, ah. So here's my my heart is being being torn in Twain by Tifa and era already so
02:48
Shelby is in Florida at the moment
02:53
entering with her friends on a birthday excursion. She just finished her master's. And so she's now like, Oh yeah, you definitely need to go take a break and have, you know, a
03:08
fun time with friends. And so she is
03:12
campaigning in Florida at the moment. And so she is she's doing that. And then I will be entering to Oklahoma City tomorrow to see friends that I've not seen in a while. And then also to shoot firearms that
03:33
were not in the city, hopefully. Oh, correct. Well, yeah,
03:36
sort of
03:37
range. I mean, it is Oklahoma. So
03:43
I have been battling a squirrel.
03:49
We got a
03:51
bird feeder,
03:52
right, because we have some barn swallows and
03:56
there I go totally like these. They don't
03:59
everything else. has seemed to like our bird feeder and so there's no real like way to hang it. So we've been kind of I've been kind of experimenting with different books and things and then miraculously it has brought the attention of a squirrel. You mean unsurprisingly, yes. And so it has annoyingly
04:25
been
04:27
battling with me. And so finally, I kind of set it on my little railing, thinking like, Oh, you know, this is kind of, you know, out of the way and know, sure enough, this girl came over and knocked it over causing all the birds to fall onto my porch. patio exactly where this girl would do. And so I also came to realization that all of the birdseed that has been overflowing has somehow landed on my neighbor's or my downstairs neighbors. balcony thing, but it's been raining. So he has to notice. Yeah, all right. So, yeah, I looked over and there was just a mound of bird feed, blamed squirrel.
05:05
Oh, means a squirrel.
05:08
But I had a sudden urge of, you know, and I was like, I gotta like, get my gun was like No, no, you gotta
05:15
you gotta hang it off. So some like really weird contraption and like, put cooking grease all over it. So it can't climb out there correctly Crisco it up right.
05:26
How terrible can we make this?
05:29
sticky? Very imaginary?
05:32
What is it called a suction cup thing that I put on my window.
05:35
Yeah, but
05:36
somehow I can't really hang it anywhere else. And so it was kind of the squirrel had gone up and try to get to it or get to it but it started messing with the bird nest. And I got to check if the eggs actually hatched. But I became an overprotective parent. I was like, Oh no, you don't
05:59
anxiety Greece on
06:01
the west side of the window so cat squirrels are,
06:03
you know, you know, annoyingly more brave than I anticipated because I walked out there and I was like, Girl you get out of here and it didn't move. I was like, Oh, you got more. Oh, you're more brazen. I thought you are. Oh no, no, this is known about squirrels. This is the one thing that they do. Is there is no bird feeder safe from squirrel. Right? I don't think it's non existent. Yes, like Susan's mom has one on the fence and the squirrel like but its feet on the top of the fence like hang down like this weird like gym this pose like trying to get It's crazy. Like, does all kinds of ridiculous stuff. And then it it's so desperate that it's like scratching around in there, kind of like Arizona about all the birds eat falls to the ground. Well, then the raccoon comes out and it starts losing because it's on the ground. It's like Oh, hey, Yo, what's up? Like everything is eating basically except birds. Yeah, so it's it brought a lot of like really cool birds to our little thing, but at the same time, it also brought a nuisance so I took it down temporarily was super fat squirrel on super annoying fast squirrel.
07:16
And so
07:17
I had this sudden urge, like I got a 22 like this No, no,
07:21
no, no, no no middle
07:22
town and one nine blue shirt again, except when you shoot your neighbor's window out or shoot your eye out, and you got to out and so I have removed the bird feeder and help to alleviate the presence of the minister that is a squirrel. Yeah. Yeah, that's been my quote, unquote, time in a week I'll be sitting here like typing or talking to people on the phone. And I remember I was talking to my supervisor, and I just looked up and there was a squirrel like looking in my window and I was like, sweet sister Francis, and I had to go The level
08:03
imagine what is your thought? Like, Eric, all of a sudden is on the phone. He goes, Oh, hold on and then just like crashing noises Yeah. Yelling. He was
08:14
confused and concerned. He's like, um, are you okay? And I'm like, No, I'm fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine. Don't worry about it. Are you okay? Like, would it be fine?
08:25
to fight off a squirrel? He's like, Okay, well, I'll call you back later, you're seem to be busy. It's like, No, I'm fine. Don't worry about it. It's fine. Everything's fine.
08:35
So that has been my view.
08:38
This is slightly morbid. Yeah. Do you remember the what Bill Rogers did with his score? Yes. Yes.
08:48
Does anybody remember this? Kind of I'm trying to say
08:52
he had a similar problem. Right did and setting the stage and he had a it was outside in the garden and it was almost like hanging pole things, you know. And so he he had the same dilemma with squirrels eating all the bird seed, and he did the grease the pole thing and do all the other stuff. But what was happening was this girl was like, leaping from the fence to the top of the bird feeder. Yeah. So what he did was he put nails through the top of the bird so that it wouldn't jump any. I distinctly remember having this conversation was like, like, what do you do when it lands on the thing is like, I'm gonna leave it there to
09:44
all the others. So they
09:46
know what happens to them when they try to mess with my breath. Mm hmm. Yes. Okay. Very
09:52
very medieval squirrel. Squirrel pipes around the corner. Yeah, basically surround it with bikes.
10:01
Vlad the Impaler right was leave the enemy ugly
10:06
yeah oh dude you're really upset about this squirrel pride
10:13
I vaguely remember that that conversation but yes, but
10:16
I don't think I can do that because that'd be the one time my apartment people show up like um Why does your bird feeder have Pike's like say about it or about it? Or they bailed squirrels on your porch? No reason about it. I'm trying to scare the Turks. I mean squirrels away
10:38
these Ottomans I mean, I mean, squirrel Otto.
10:41
Otto mons for my feet.
10:45
Oh. Right.
10:50
Side note, Brandon, you saw the the Vlad the Impaler versus Dracula?
10:55
Yes. Okay. I was just again.
10:58
Like I was 30 You're shopping?
11:04
I forgot. Yes. Um, me so I'll be leaving tomorrow morning. It's been raining non stop in the last three days so and I shall be keep sending me snapchats of you know, sunny Florida and like, it must be nice. Well, that the sun was in a few days. Well, so yeah, she's doing that and I'm it's been cold and miserable here.
11:43
Starting to warm up. He's creeping back in and I've been very sad.
11:50
Today was so great cold
11:54
heart with the swirls Exactly.
11:58
Like humidity in the hotness It can go away. Good. Thanks.
12:04
Yeah, seriously? Not a fan.
12:09
When you live in 100 year old house, it's like cooling.
12:14
What's that?
12:16
Like? It's like, how's a fan in some iced tea? Darling Really? Like everybody know, you know, really? All these all these houses, none of them have good insulation. And yeah, like, Why even bother studying the AC off? Just leave it on from now until September.
12:35
Just go ahead. That's right.
12:39
Cuz thankfully I mean I mean genuinely when we were looking for houses
12:43
up here
12:46
finding one finding a two story home not that that was on our list but if it was going to be two storey the top floor,
12:52
whatever you're like must escape my children
12:55
must have some you know, whatever but but just
13:01
House shopping when we were buying this
13:04
in the secondary had to have central AC the number of houses I looked at up here that were quote unquote renovated remodeled or new ish for you know a century old home that did not have central AC upstairs at all almost all of them did not have central AC. And I was like No, I cannot I cannot make that I cannot survive that. They will perish. I will melt. No it's bad. It's real bad. So, that's why when we found this one I was like, wow, you mean like so this house got central AC when it was like
13:44
85 years old.
13:48
But hey, whatever, I'm happy about it.
13:52
Hey, no old central AC better than no, no, no.
13:57
Yeah, no, absolutely.
13:58
I would much rather than Window units. Oh, no. No, you don't need a means thing have the window, the two window units diagonally and then have opened all the doors and had the fans like oh, like, propped up next to the door to just blow the air in a circle around, you know?
14:21
No and especially upstairs there's
14:22
a 12 inch three speed oscillating fan. Yeah, Indeed, indeed. Yes. I mean, you just weren't sure. In front of the divan and true true it's pretty much been there ever, you know, since it started a began to Yeah, yeah. Okay,
14:39
maybe I think we can do that without copyright infringement. It's fine but
14:41
we none of our listeners are gonna understand what we're talking about. Okay.
14:47
But, no,
14:50
I was like, there's no way I could be in a second story hundred year old house with, with with not with no AC so
14:59
parallel
15:01
It runs a lot.
15:03
Fine.
15:07
Ah,
15:08
when we also when we bought this house, one of the things that we requested was to close. It was for them to put out a new garage door. Because the old one was not I mean, old is really old and was pretty battered. So we said, put a new garage door and it's a deal, among other things, but whatever.
15:28
Well, yesterday,
15:32
Noah parked his bike at the opening of the garage,
15:35
because the garage doors open, got off and start to walk in. Lilian being the kind of sweet hearted child that she has decided she was going to shut the garage door.
15:45
She pushed the button
15:48
but the bike was blocking the safety beam. So yes, it went up. Okay, she was confused by because she pushed the button and shouldn't go up when you push the button. So she pushed it again. Hmm. And again, oh again and again and the little little control arm that that moves and hangs down from that center. Yeah with the chipping ripped the brackets off of the door.
16:16
Whoa.
16:18
And Britt Yeah, so a bent the bracket off and continued to pull it towards the motor, bending the top panel down and, and bringing it off of the the rails on either side. Holy
16:33
cow.
16:36
Oh it's Oh,
16:38
it pulled it so hard into the motor that it broke the little plastic cover on front, broke the light bulb inside and like I said, pulled it off of the rails
16:52
up top.
17:01
It was one of those things of like, I am going to be really mad right now. But I can't be really mad right
17:12
now, because she didn't do anything wrong. Like she didn't do it on purpose. She was trying to close the door. It just
17:22
Ah
17:27
Oh, so I really panicked about that
17:32
sounds like this is a brand new door and
17:38
I don't want to have to buy a whole new one because they can be kind of expensive. Yeah, because this is not a it's not a single garage door. It's an 1819 foot wide garage door single garage door. So it's a big end. Yeah, this is a two car garage with just one door for both of the spots. So We, I, I called a bunch of places and some guy one guy was like, Ah, I'm booked six weeks out. Sorry. And I'm sitting there going, Oh my god, I need this closed tonight because we had some like, first of all,
18:15
first of all
18:18
is that is that a like? enormous business garage door opener person? Like, is that a business that gets booked six weeks? Well, this was the nuts. Well, this guy was just this guy was the is the, the kind of the handyman service like repairman.
18:39
General repairman.
18:40
Okay? Not like a garage door person.
18:43
Oh, dude, I'm swamped with garage doors like
18:45
garage door ness. I
18:46
know people are buying some weird stuff during this whole thing right now, but like, garage doors. I was not expecting that to be the thing.
18:54
Yeah, no, I got a funny place
18:56
my garage door right now. What? Okay, let's Lead pay. Yeah, no spikes. Yeah, he was he's just somebody that we've was recommended to us by neighbors. And so we've just we've used him for a ton of stuff around the house. So is your garage door still open? Well, or did you like hang on it? Or alternate suggestion? You could surround it with pikes. And then that's
19:26
not i'm not i'm not doing squirrels here. Okay, these What about what about Ottomans?
19:31
automate well, could I lock formation? Could be English Civil War could be very Englishman. No, it's not having happened yesterday. And I saw I called I called dad and was like, hey, what, what do I need to do right now because Megan, I cannot get this back on the rails right now between the two of us we cannot. My goal was just to get on the rails and shut up and then move on. It doesn't have the opposite case. It doesn't have the locking mechanism on the inside. So you can't shut them in. And yeah, because it should be on a motor. Yeah, I know. But I'm like next time and now it has as soon as that because that's a good idea. So anyway, so Dan was like, Oh, I'm not in town, but I have a crew up there. Yeah, cuz you
20:20
can just connect it and bring it down in shock. That's,
20:23
that was my goal. That's my goal. Is it just connected and then shut it and then
20:27
sleep on it,
20:28
too. I was like, I'm not up. There I go. He's like, I'm not there. But I have a crew that's in there right now. Let me call them and see if I can send a guy over the hill.
20:37
Yeah.
20:39
So So a very, a very nice man named Jeff came over and helped me get it not only on the rails, but it bent back into shape and screwed the arm back into the center post. great man. Yes. Yes, this very nice effect. Very generous man came over on his lunch break to help me. Wow. And so I was like, Oh my gosh, well, like that exceeds all my expectations for the day so at least we can close it and you know power for a while. Unfortunately no Pike's but no pike sorry. Did you know that maybe stage plan for dash nine be
21:20
right? But
21:22
I was like I still want a garage door company to come out and look at this to tell me like structurally is the sound? Is it going to tear it? I just run it up and down a couple times and if it doesn't fall off the ceiling? It does fine. I did. I just just want to see. So anyway, I called
21:40
I called the company you could add some bikes just to be safe.
21:45
So I called the store company and I said, I said hi it's a garage door company and I said hi. I want call about getting my door repaired and she paused
21:57
and she goes what kind of door
22:00
I went, I was under the impression this was a garage door company. Am I wrong? And she goes to screen door,
22:07
obviously,
22:08
right? It's only only French doors, repair French doors
22:13
now. It's easy to make fun of that. But I can only imagine the stupid calls that they probably get right.
22:21
Well, that's what she said. She goes, she goes, she goes, it's in our name garage door, but you'd be surprised some people call us about their front door or the interior door freezer door
22:32
into which I paused and I said,
22:36
Do you have anybody that has a garage door for a front door? She goes,
22:42
No, but I think we could do that. And I went, that would be really awkward. And she goes, Yeah, I don't think anyone would like that. And it goes anyway, so my garage doors broken. That'd be awesome. I know how long that would take How noisy coming in late at night.
22:59
Anyway, thanks. She I gave her my address and I said, Look, I don't know if it needs to be replaced or just fixed. Could you send some crews over just to give me a quote for the price difference between those two?
23:09
So she's okay, that's fine. Well, she
23:12
she wrote down my wrong address, apparently. And so they they were trying to find 1118 West 11th Street
23:22
last yesterday,
23:24
and that's that's not where I live, then that does not exist. All right, you're in town. So they call it a day. And they were like, yo, where do you live? I told them and they're like, Oh, we Oh, that makes a lot of sense. Because we couldn't find you. And I was like, yeah, that's not real. And so they came over today. And they looked at it, and they're like, Oh, we actually installed this door. And I was like, great. Can you fix it? And they looked at it and said, Well, it looks like you've got it pretty much bent to where we would try and get it. And they're like, looks fine, and then they were doing a couple of tests. And then they looked and they're like, oh, oh no, this had this topic. It'll have to be replaced. This is apparently this. There's metal struts that GIVE IT support on the backside. And when this bent down
24:11
door or the
24:14
back of the door, if you go out and look at your garage, look at the garage door. There'll be metal support struts. Yeah, at set intervals on the inside of the door. Because the metal is not I don't know if you're talking about the carrier or the door or the little
24:29
pulley thing I didn't know.
24:31
I know. So yeah. So yeah, so the back of the door, apparently, when this bent, it bent so much that it broke the sealant and bent those struts, and pulled them away from the back from the panel. So they were like, there's no fixing that that count. Like that has to be that has to be set in the factory and we don't do repairs. We just got to replace the panel. So I was like,
24:56
oh, okay,
24:58
is it too late? How much how many times can this go up and down? Before it destroys tracks? Basically, we're trying to say, I don't really want to replace this right now he
25:09
goes, how much is the one panel? Yeah, well,
25:12
he goes, you could you leave, like, you probably open and close it like four times a day. And I was like, yeah. And then I remembered that every single time my children go outside, they open the garage door so that they can go get their bikes and stuff out. So it's really more like 40 times a day.
25:27
For four
25:30
zeros in here. It's like, Oh, okay. He was like, well, like, I he goes, I give it two months, and you're gonna need to get this replaced. And you don't want it because in my mind, I don't want to be in the situation where it's legitimately broken, broken, dangling over our cars. Yeah, right. All through the windshield. Yeah, so I really opened the garage door. It goes up falls, smashes through the windshield. Right? On a child. I don't know. I don't know how catastrophic it can or can't be, but these are where my brain goes. So I was like, Okay, well, how long is it gonna take
26:05
to order one? He goes, Oh,
26:07
well, this is he took some measurements. And he goes, Oh, well, this isn't a standard size and so of course not nothing in house is standard standard light bulbs there are certain like, they're not like spiritual like, nothing is standard. Of course it's not. Okay, cool. How long is it going to be? He was like, probably three and a half weeks and I was like
26:32
Oh, wow.
26:35
On the street. Oh, yeah. So
26:40
that's on our table to figure out what we're gonna do.
26:44
To get a bunch of instead of garage door just get one of those, like, those beads that hang down, you know,
26:52
like resentfully No.
26:54
Gonna have like weird patterns. I was always like some kind of like we
26:57
like a gang gang. Right? really opened the flow Collins like
27:03
nobody would walk in there because they would want to break it.
27:07
Right, right. Don't you hide behind a beaded curtain? Right? That's right. pikes you go Oh,
27:16
well yeah,
27:17
you could get just you could make instead of a garage door you could just knock out some like barn doors. Right big double barn door swing open and closed see well you go again again adjusting my this first house Megan I've owned just adjusting my mentality of just how much things cost.
27:43
Oh, it's ridiculous Are you think they are but I know
27:46
that the top panel for this thing is like over $400 just for the top panel. And
27:53
and I'm like, ah, I can't
27:56
write is this is this what you need to do? So driving Down to dad's. Take the other garage do his top panel. Yes. So
28:06
his top panel he's got two garage doors.
28:10
I've only seen tape on here duct tape them together so you can make.
28:14
Yeah, right. I would have to do that because they're half as wide as mine.
28:22
Oh, but the other I mean the other thing that really, again that adjusted my brain for how much something cost was the toilets here the seats finally gave up the ghost. They've got those little feet on the on the seat that it sits on the toilet. Oh, yeah. To give it a little bit sparse. Yeah, up at the front. That's also the hinge can work and it doesn't, right. Yeah. Well, because I have children. They would just let go of the seat and it would come slamming down because I shocking. The seats weighed like as much as a civic and they broke those And so I finally replaced them and I bought ones that I was like that good, great again. What do you what do I spend my time doing? See what are the reviews of toilet seats? What do people say about these? What are these? What's like what are the characteristics you want them I went to Lowe's and was like, Ooh, this, I have this, this will fit take on it. Well, that's how I shopped from my toilets because I had to replace ours in our apartment. Just this one boom. Well, I mean, I wanted something and Megan, I wanted something that the kids weren't going to destroy. So I got like the the gentle closing ones, which are not as material like material, they're made out of a different they're made of more of a plastic kind of thing instead of the dense whatever material that
29:45
yes or no, I actually have no idea. Right?
29:48
These things were like almost $60 apiece. I was like,
29:53
how much is a toilet like I did not.
29:57
I did not pay $60 for my toilet seat.
30:01
Wait a minute. How does this go? Yeah, so there's some things there's some things they're like, they just stupid expensive. Yeah. What? Why? Why does that cost that much? That's not what it what the heck? Why? Yeah, so there's definitely some things that are like that, like random things and I think it's part of it is because it's things that you don't buy, right? You know, like, Oh right, well, I'm gonna buy this thing and it's gonna last forever. So sure, they're not gonna sell a ton of them though that the durable goods that some of the prices are like really high it's
30:45
it's just weird we try and scale those things because like, you know, we have
30:48
our appliances like
30:51
like the big things like those are gonna need to be replaced soon. And but like those prices make sense in my brain, and I think that's mostly just because they're big. items like a stove. I like oh yeah, obviously a stove is very expensive because it's just a, I mean, even in my mind, a stove is not a complicated piece of machinery. Right? It's an electric current heated thing done. So, in my head, it should not be just exorbitantly expensive. Right? Actually sure how much stoves are? Because I've never bought one. But
31:24
anywhere between anywhere between $200 and $79,000. There you go. That's how much those cost.
31:30
I mean, I was gonna give, I was hoping for a slightly smaller margin of error.
31:39
I don't know like Google stove. I get here. Well, okay, Google,
31:45
Google range. Well, all these all these terms are so old fashioned stove who uses That's true. I don't want like
31:51
a wood burning stove. You want to arrange an oven, you know? Oh, yeah,
31:57
I do want an oven. Yeah, no. In clear no you gross. No man, here's your clothes again. Give me those. Well you got it Tapan walls ovens,
32:11
yo Is it a double oven? Is it a freestanding oven is an inset oven is a lot of cotton you know
32:17
it's inset obviously, it's no and no because because mine is mine is a free standing but like dad's is an inset. Yeah the correct way because mine's inset too. I know I wish we had it. I wish we had an advisor no prices on here. Doesn't matter with you. That's perfectly fine. I want you to come into the store. It looks like the consensus is mid mid range for most ovens is like a grand. Yeah, this one's like $700 Okay, that makes sense. That's fine. Basically what you need is you need an air dryer or air fryer. Only. Oh yeah, this is like 800 bucks. That's what we want to smoke. oven Get out of here You idiot. This is yours. This is one of those things too that annoyed This is why things are expensive. There's a whole bunch of junk on there that you don't want and you don't need this my old man coming out here coming out like nobody I do not care if my oven can Bluetooth to my fault Shut up, get out. Nobody cares about that a preheat oven. I don't you know, high premium overnight. I push a button and it goes preheat done. Oh, got it. Nailed it. Done. It's like I do. Nobody, nobody. I don't want you to overload me with all these features that you're gonna up charge me for that. I don't want them. They're not useful to me. They're garbage. But you put them on there. You make everything more expensive. Yeah, like $700 for an oven. 800 is fine. I mean to me, here's the here's the here's the other thing. When did we collectively as a society, determine that the only three colors that were applicable to appliances are white,
34:02
black.
34:04
And what's the other one? stainless steel stainless steel? What what I believe? Well it's gotta be I believe as the 1980s right? right that the reaction to the 70s
34:16
yeah when they were like why is your oven Brown? That's why why is your
34:23
refrigerator
34:24
yellow What has happened? Well yeah green dishwasher fuchsia because pre 1980s Kitchen Appliances came in very exciting colors. Yeah, right. like super exciting. Like although weird like to like read like really just crazy yellow. And then finally not exciting yellows, orange, this for you get floral print. You could get like, you know, all right. This is this is my point like our and here's the other thing of when you go into a store our entire kitchen is styled For it to be bright and
35:01
white.
35:02
So it's like I actually like the look of white appliances where we are. And I don't quite have the amount of money to replace a fridge, an oven, or a dishwasher and, and all of the stainless steel knobs and everything else that's in the kitchen to match whatever new horrendous thing gets put in. I don't know. It's been very strange. So if I'm just gonna replace the oven, it's got to be white. It's black because a lot of like ancillary appliances come in a wide variety of colors. Yeah, right like mixers and toasters and coffee pots and butter, sir, I guess. Yeah, like your minor appliances come in a wide variety of bizarre colors. It's right. You get the three because then you go you go Okay, well, I want a really nice, I want like a return
35:56
of in weight
35:59
which is Like, at least like reliability and feature sets if you go and you're like, Okay, I want one that is very reliable that gets great reviews. That's middle of the pack price range, maybe towards the higher end of that. What do I get? They're like, well, it's only comes in stainless steel. I think I don't want stainless steel and they're like, Okay, well, there's a white oven over there for $7 I don't want white oven
36:22
to want bass, but okay.
36:26
So,
36:28
clients choice is very lacking,
36:30
which I know because maybe, yeah, I'm thinking maybe 1980s right. They started like, future rising everything like Oh, we got a break. Part of it is definitely a reaction to the 1970s. decor of Oh, no. Why is everything so Brown? Well, yeah. migraine inducing. Yeah. Like, but then also you kind of get this like, there was a kind of push where you like, Oh, you want to make it like a restaurant kitchen like industrial like fancy like You know, but those are just steal, because you clean them faster. Yeah, that's part of it, too. I imagine it's cheaper, because we have to maximize profit and literally everything. It's unacceptable to not be making the maximum amount of profit at all times. You really streamline that when you only have like, two colors of thing. Oh, yeah, no, because you're gonna lose money. If you make multiple colors, because you'll have one that doesn't sell very well, right? You you'll be sitting on these, like 18 blue refrigerators forever. Nobody wants them. Right? And then you've just you're done. You made slightly less profit this quarter. And your world comes to an end and your failure is businessmen and your whole everything collapses. And then you die porn alone. It really is just what happened was capitalism in the kitchen at its finest. It's just sad. I mean, so that's that's our what's on our plate is looking at because it's like what would I like to have a different colored appliance? Actually, yes, let's be real actually. Yes. But if you look if you ever venture into that and like Sure, I will take your $700 stove and you will pay me 1400 dollars and I'll make it a different color. Yeah.
38:26
Well, nevermind, I don't want it to have
38:29
a follow up question. What color do you want it to be? Oh, no, I carry a color.
38:45
Kitchen. Right? the proletariat style.
38:48
Kitchen is very brown like a very older apartment in my my kitchen. You know, refrigerator and stove are very cream color. So you walk in, you're like, Ah, this is my kitchen. And then I have like, a black airfryer. And then I like black
39:12
microwave and
39:14
toaster and then I have a bunch of random things from Pioneer Woman. So everything else is like flowery floral. Yeah.
39:20
It's all just kind of like, yeah.
39:23
This works. Yeah, this is fine.
39:25
Sorry, continue go.
39:27
No, I mean, I would I like to have like,
39:30
an orange or like a light blue or something like that. Yeah, I think that'd be really cool in dream. If you're not maybe not danger being like, I'm sure
39:40
I'm sure there's some company out there that
39:43
they will do. It means amount of money. Literally all of the money. They'll do it. Well, yeah, though. They'll probably it's a third party company. Right? You bring them yourself. They'll take it down. Powder, coat it right. Put it all back together and charge you like a million dollars to do that. Yeah no even though you really just well Collins is open standing by itself one so they need to but like mine You need to the door like I do man Come on the inset though. do that anyway, give me some door options man.
40:17
I mean ours, ours has a little panel inset
40:19
it can't cost you that much money to change out the inset, right? You probably do it yourself just put it back on stick the knob on Oh look, it is now a different color.
40:27
I mean ours has
40:28
or has the business opportunity.
40:31
Business Opportunity. Okay. I mean ours has counter on both sides, but it's classified as a free standing and because it could be. It could be a wall in the middle of the floor I've never seen in a house that was not from a photograph from the 1940s an actual free standing. oven. stove. I will say that. I think there was a like I've never seen one in person. A rental house. in Springfield that I went to a couple times with some friends pad. It was it was it was a freestanding oven, just against a wall. And it was because to the right of it was a cabinet was a pantry and to the left of it was stairs that went downstairs.
41:21
And it was just to be
41:24
no, they just did not have room like they had remodeled at some point. And I guess I looked up and went, Oh, wait, where do we put the oven?
41:34
I don't know. But that's there was there was no like insert for it anywhere else in the kitchen.
41:39
I guess Mimi's was freestanding technically. I mean, right because it was like it wasn't in a countertop.
41:45
Right But hers was like, but that style of oven was supposed to be right. Yeah, that was that was a that was a feature of a kitchen of like, Whoa ha Look at this. Yeah, not these again that that's another like mega old house. Yeah, that was not designed for that. So they had to have that. Probably Why? So I guess there's that one. I didn't think about that one because it was like slammed up next to the refrigerator. So it doesn't, it doesn't feel free standing maybe. Okay, I take it back. I've seen one freestanding oven, actually free in the wild in the wild. Most the other ones here like movies like the 40s, right, because that's how the kitchens were laid out. Their oven was like boom, by itself, because there was that had that one in the barn for a long time. But it wasn't like in the kitchen. So I've seen one and a half. We'll call it one and a half. I've seen it, but it was in a barn.
42:38
It was not in its native habitat.
42:39
was not in the kitchen. doesn't count. Sorry. So yeah, that's been that's been fun. No, that sounds fun.
42:54
Yeah, I've been broken garage doors, man. So,
42:57
so so good. Well, it was funny because I like Call dad and he was like how old is that? Like that's not even two years old and he just was silent for a little bit because you know he's had the same garage doors on the house for literally ever ever literally ever and so I just I wonder if his brain was going Wait are garage doors things that can break wait a minute
43:19
probably went home and checked the garage door and
43:21
like checked all over
43:24
Oh, when this when the story first started I was thinking of like, you know the garage the barn garage door and how many times I broke one of those little windows in it. How many times did you break one little windows a day you know the numbers don't really matter now it's progressed I've the better man and moved on. But I was in there remembers like tonfa Yeah, these kids broke the garage door.
43:54
Open the garage.
43:55
Over here, man. What kind of kid breaks a garage door Geez. hooligans. Really sorry.
44:06
I just don't understand why the garage door kept pulling that hard. Like when I there was no like, because of my garage door. If you do that, like if you push the button, and it goes down in that little laser thing trips, it won't work anymore. Like you can't push the button for like X number of minutes. Really not possible. Yeah. Like no, like the light starts flashing. It's like
44:38
and it doesn't work.
44:41
No, this one you can, you can get it going on a pretty good rhythm. Because I've actually done that where it goes, it can go, the light will go. But you could get it going almost immediately back. Oh, yeah, mine, at least. But yeah, mine doesn't do that. My like weights There's like a thing that like, Is this some sort of cut off? That doesn't you can't use it like immediately. Sure. Oh, yeah, it's Yeah, I don't again, I don't know. I wasn't, I was upstairs trying to work when I got a call from Megan. So, next thing that's gonna happen is they're gonna kick when those little sensors and you will never be able to get them lined up again in your garage or will not function. All right, I already had to battle that cause
45:28
But fortunately, I have a laser pointer. So it around.
45:33
But as long as you get it pretty close, it'll work but like, yeah, ours did that. Susan's mom's did that, like, one of our neighbors did that we tried to help them. Ya know, doomed forever. Well, yeah, and it's just, it's just something else. Yeah, that's what I you know, that was one thing that I worried about, because I know garage doors is as robust as they seem. They're like these traps Little things just getting ready to collapse at any given moment. If they're not aligned properly, you know, they'll over time they'll wear themselves into shreds or whatever the
46:09
garage door motor exerts a billion pounds of torque. Like
46:14
I told the guys I said, I'm really happy that you guys installed this motor. It's really nice and
46:20
it definitely does the job.
46:23
But yeah, if I ever want to tug of war contests, I'll just click it up to my
46:29
yank and away
46:30
that half horsepower really Whoo. Yeah. So we were talking about dad and the other day, I was out using my shot back in inverted so that was blowing. Oh my gosh, cuz that's a lot of fun. Why?
46:50
Cuz why not. You blow stuff around. And I know I've got a leaf blower but I don't want to get it out and it's a lot of stuff. Anyway, I've flown stuff around here, and he's starting to worry me.
47:02
Okay. Oh, the story just gets worse. And I was like, Huh,
47:06
I need to. So I went in before I had done that I had emptied it out. And I was like, Man, it's really dirty in this job back. And so after I was done blowing stuff off, I was like, you know, I've got a couple minutes, I need to clean out the inside of my shop. So I spent, I spent 10 minutes with soap and scrubbing out the inside of the shop back and go like your listeners. I currently am hanging my head in my poems.
47:29
I have my eyes covered in the palm of my hand shaking. disbelief.
47:36
My emotions, right, I actually,
47:38
I actually thought in my brain at that moment. I was like, oh, oh, no, this seems like something dad would do. It is
47:46
a dad does.
47:48
Cut to cut too. We were at his house. And he brought the dumpster down from the top of the driveway and you wait a bit Cuz you guys go inside I need to clean up the dumpster and I
48:02
was like out
48:10
the same man that rocks grass
48:17
so just know
48:20
I'm on a path guys
48:25
yeah turn is
48:30
still still have my head in my hands
48:36
either disbelief
48:37
anyway what what things have you guys this week? No I have
48:43
no clean things I'm sorry outworks
48:51
oh my gosh
48:53
it's all i got I'm sorry besides that
48:57
having to continuously vacuum up bird seed Shall we get a Shall we got a Fern
49:04
and of course she's, you know, gone for this week and next week and so I'm like stuck here with there's three plants that she has bought and plus a Fern. I have four random plants and I've had to keep moving the fern from outside inside outside inside because I'm like oh you know I gotta let it get some sun put it outside and then just downpour of rain and so I have to bring it back inside to where there's little turn lanes, little leaf things that just scattered throughout my everywhere apartment and I was and I was like, Where the hell did this come from? And I'm like searching around I was like, I don't own and I like wait a second. I did a slow pan over to this firm like that you do you four times.
49:48
You You have to do extra work.
49:52
But I don't have he was in the shop back this column has I have a little little sweeper thing that Barely does the job for my tiny apartment. But listen, I was like, Where are these stupid leaves coming? Oh, do you remember the one that Mimi had? I don't know. I don't know what that plant was. Remember, she was kind of like a firm but had the really thin blades. Yes. Okay, I'm gonna say which one because she had the IV thing that stupid IV thing that was like 8000 meters long. And circle the house. But yeah, that little thing with the little tiny. I don't even know what that's called. I have no idea. But she she had it in that metal planter. Yeah. But she'd bring it in and bring it out. And that thing just oh my gosh, that was terrible. Oh, yeah,
50:39
that big, long planetary thing that was on the Yeah, he
50:42
was talking about one of her favorite plants are Annie's and I was like, oh, Kenny's just having a go out there and, like, well, we have to go trim to knees for a little bit. Okay. No, no, it's all over him. How dare you. They're beautiful. Plants I've never lived my life that is no longer me
51:10
yes no we have outdoor plants Susan decided that she was going to do some and then put them in this like giant like metal tub thing on the front porch and but it's like enormous like a and so like anytime it needs to move he's like hey I need you to go move like giant data. Oh fun it's really heavy. Like I don't move very far. Just like two feet tall it's under the little like awning or not awning but like under the overhang they go That's weird. But still it's like, why?
51:55
God? Yeah, we know they plan to have outside plans.
52:03
Yeah, we've been
52:05
messing with
52:07
plants on the outside and just
52:12
we had several dies last year and so they're these holes were had planted several. And now it's like well, I don't know what to replace him with because I really liked what there was there. But I don't want to keep holding back the same rocks. That's what well see. The thing is
52:26
I have two small children, and
52:28
I would rather them throw mulch at each other than rocks. Give them big rock. Like dad has those big like devils Where to go? There's big effect rocks, right? You just put in a small cliff.
52:46
Yeah, yeah, it's fine. Right?
52:49
Like this. What they plate those big boulders like they place it for barricades on some roads sometimes. Yeah.
52:54
Yeah, like the national park so you can't drive down the trailers. Yeah.
53:02
Don't just start casually getting those delivered around my house.
53:04
Yeah, they want to look natural. So they don't like put a concrete thing but they do just put like enormous rock like Oh, hey, here's a desk size rock. How's it going? Yeah, you don't drive here? Mm hmm. Oh, yeah. landscaping rocks. Perfect. See? And then when you can not to play anything you can, you know, water you have to water it. You have to trim it. Rock. Pet Rock. Yeah. Put the weather sign by it.
53:36
Yeah, yeah.
53:40
Trying to get all the elements in, you know, beer. in your garden there. They function way like no, listen, just fine. Well, we've been battling to get grass growing in our backyard. I can send some before and after pictures because they're just Just in March, it was just bare dirt. And so we've been like, keeping it cordoned off from everything and fertilizer and seed and all this stuff. And now, I've got a lot of really nice grass back there. But now it's like, oh, now I have to, like, maintain that and like, yeah, make it look nice. And yeah. What have I done? I've given myself a huge problem.
54:27
And I gotta mow no one is no laying
54:29
around now. I mean, let's be real. It takes me I use a real mower just like the old ones. Yes, yes. Not like a real mower, but like, as opposed to a fake mower. fakers
54:43
out there with the bow of the neighbor's drive by the house of cards out there pushing his mower and it's just blowing bubbles outside.
54:51
Hey guys just mowing the lawn today. Bubbles
54:58
What are you guys doing?
55:01
I think I have
55:03
to mow both my front and back yard takes me under 20 minutes if we're just being very real here using one of those mowers, so it's not a lot of space
55:16
now versus funny like
55:19
that'd be, I should start doing weird not doing stuff. Whatever you start teaching the kids how to mow teaching the kids how to weed whack. Teach them how to how to pull weeds. Are they like doing that?
55:35
You have you have a workforce or column use it,
55:37
utilize it.
55:39
workforce it's very short.
55:48

56:17
coming up this week,
56:21
no.
56:23
This week, not that I'm aware of, besides me going to Oklahoma City. I'm not sure. That's about it. I have a few other job interviews. You got to do.
56:35
Matt, I had a few cases that are just kind of physically and mentally draining. So I'll just like
56:45
that and then that's, that's really all I got.
56:53
In lots of Final Fantasy seven,
56:54
I just realized I have Zelda Breath of the Wild and I have not played that yet. So little switch. Yeah, switch. Oh, do you really? Yeah, right one does. So it was kind of a random show. He texted me and she's like, so we're talking about getting a switch and I was like, Yeah, I was like I found one I was like me then then we'll use some money
57:16
like found one or
57:18
found or found like, I found
57:20
like, it just fell off a truck. Just kids playing at the park and left here on the found on
57:31
Tulsa and after visiting like, four or five different places, she she finally found one and this was kind of like, right when the kind of outbreak started. I had it for a while as I've been playing Crash Bandicoot and mario kart racing. I looked over things like
57:49
I've been playing Animal Crossing like literally everybody else. Now.
57:53
I never got into Animal Crossing
57:54
looks so boring.
57:57
that that wasn't part of my career. I watched one of my friends play and I was like, this is it like that's cool. I have I've been playing cool Stardew Valley Come on. I've been playing
58:11
what else was I playing?
58:12
Seven Days to Die my zombie game. So any any apocalypse? And then I was like sitting there and after, like last Friday when I fully started to play, but it took me like an hour to download everything and after deleting some games for space
58:29
normally
58:30
yeah I finally got there's only two discs once a download disc and once the playing disc of the Final Fantasy seven remake or remaster and I was like, Man, this is awesome. And after like two hours in I was like I'm still in bed Gar
58:45
forever. What's its enormous
58:48
forever is that I just met Earth. We're walking in her little
58:51
flyer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got like 1000 hours to go for Yeah,
58:55
yeah, I didn't realize that and oh, yeah, no, there's so much but it It definitely brings back memories of watching because I guess this is when we had that episode of talking about you know, us getting into games this was kind of like the, like the first game I ever truly, quote unquote got into and it was mostly just like from watching you and you know having that talk of if you played this you will play off your own
59:23
save card
59:25
off the ps1 like you will not use my memory card you will use this card to play if you start playing this go to string IRA because it's like you will not over will leave over any of my progress. Like I will throw you from window kind of that conversation and so replaying this game in the remastered form. Number one, its playstyle is vastly different. actually hearing voice actors. It's like, Oh, yeah. Interesting. Once you finally get to the rest of the 8 million characters in that game, yeah. And that's kind of what I typed. Yesterday I was like, man, class kind of a jerk. And I guess I need to like, rewatch some old gameplay of seeing his kind of like dialogue. And oh no, he's jerk for a long time. It takes a minute, but I kind of you'll find out why. Yeah, it's boiler Reno's Final Fantasy seven, slowly things are kind of coming together. It's like, I don't remember any of like, the backstories of things. Oh, thermal is a lot more in play. It's like I know there is there's other stuff at play. But I'm like, I don't remember I don't remember if this part was in the original. I don't remember this part was in the originals like Yeah, I heard they added some weird things in there that are like a little bit different. So far, like, but like combat
60:46
style is vastly different. No,
60:48
I mean, just some of the story right? Some of the story there's some things are like a nod to like the old one. It's like a reference to the whole gaming. Like, if you've never played it, you're not gonna be like, yeah, like I did. Baird's character. Like we're sitting there after a battle and he's like, we should have a victory song. And then he sings the, the original, you know?
61:11
And I'm like, I'm nerding out right now. And then there's like some side quests here and there I was like this is
61:18
I don't remember. Like, there was a little random things have to go around and do that question I want to know is are they gonna? Like because later, there are definitely some characters that you can like, never meet? Yeah, because I remember that being a struggle, so I'm going to look at that here later. Cuz there's a couple that you can just not meet. Yeah, you don't have to do anything with them. Like one of them. I know for sure. You can just like never find her. Ever. Oh, the little ninja lady. Yeah. Yuffie whatever. Yeah, you can just like totally never So I I will look that up later because I was playing it. I have it paused right now because it was kind of fun to like when I was like, I gotta meet everybody. Yeah, you have to like do some stuff. You have to go wander around in the woods and fighter a couple times and then talk to her and like, say the right thing and otherwise she just like won't. Well there's, there's not like a really kind of a dialogue tree. Like there's not a lot of your choice and conversation. It's pretty much like, cloud pretty much says everything. There's only a few times when you actually have like a choice. Well maybe like more or less. Hey, are you are you done? Are you ready to go? And it's like, I've got ready, man loud interested in the Blondie low man. And so there's a grumpy there's there's a lot of that. And kind of things. There's not a lot of like, you get to choose what the conversation is because I can't remember if that was a particular part in the original game. Yeah, it definitely was. There was definitely a lot of you like giving your response. Now how much it actually changed a lot of things. Yeah, not there's definitely a few missions where it made a big difference. Like I'm playing after playing so many video games like the choices you make an impact on later. And so I'm like super paranoid now. And so I've tried to resist the urge of looking up. You know, it's like, well, I said, this here does that impact and so I've really tried not.
63:21
Probably not at Final Fantasy seven,
63:23
um, there there's a few like cosmetic changes. Well, yeah,
63:26
but it's not gonna be like major story. It's not like the Witcher. Really, I said this this one guy one time. And now the innings completely different. Yeah. And so.
63:36
So I it's
63:37
hard
63:39
for me to play because you know, it's like, I have to scavenge and search everywhere. So I'm kind of taking a little bit longer than I should because I'm like running around. No, no, that's the point. Because if you don't do that, you will not have like the right equipment or the right material in your fight to get like super hard yeah later because you won't have the right level gear, or you won't have the right spells or whatever. And so you'll have like a cure level one. But it's not any good anymore because you haven't found the right one or can't buy it. Because Yeah, I had
64:11
to find some of the summon materia. So I have to Oh, yeah.
64:15
Yeah. And if you don't find if you don't find that, you're done, because some of those battles you need the summons?
64:21
Yeah. So I've had to do some walkthroughs of axes. I can't get there. If
64:24
you don't find them. You're kind of toast. Yeah. So I have been doing that. But like, as far as like dialogue, I'm like, I don't look at them. They'll say you're doing the right thing by wandering around, looking at all the things digging in all the weird places, fighting the dumb fights to get the stuff. Yes. That's the life. That's your life now. Forever. Yeah, it's a lot different than Gears of War. That's my biggest choice is do you want to go left or right. It really doesn't matter.
65:02
Yeah, no,
65:04
I'll see what you know this the memories are slowly coming back in because I remember definitely listening to Brandon and learning the colorful language of video gaming at an early age. Yeah, Shana was making fun of me this last week because I didn't know that she was home due to do an AMA door open here and I was playing some gears for right. Can I forgot? Just how spongy all those big boss things are? Right? It's like shooting them forever. Like, am I damaging you? Are you are you hurt? No. Okay, shoot you some more. Are you sick? Nope. Okay, still mad at me. Right? And they have a big like we have this like, big thing where like, oh, you're the main character. I'm going to now exclusively focus on you forever. Like there's three more people. Why are you chasing big tech? Stop it Stop shouting at it. Yeah, stupid AI has a bad case of Oh the protagonist get them like yeah, I came to the realization after fighting some of the bosses in this game I was like, Am I am I just tickling you with my Buster Sword Like what? Like what I'm doing here? Oh 19 damage cool like this you could see their health bar. Yeah at least makes see that's the other thing where you know like, Oh, I have to get more damage somewhere like it gears just like I'm just gonna shoot you some some more. Where's the hammer of dawn? Okay, God. It's not. Oh, no. Dang it. The Hammer doesn't work anymore. Sorry. All the badness. You're saying? Oh, I'm just gonna shoot you. A lot. A lot. Also, can we talk about how this week I've played every Gears of War game Nice so far. I have I Oh, look. Oh, there's gears five right next. How'd that get here? I don't know, the weekend, here's five. But it's very the thing that confuses me the very most is that how in every single game, especially when you play them back to back, that guns have different like, carry maximum like ammo capacity is different in every single game. Yeah, that's like, like, What the heck? Why? How does this work? I or why is it different in every game? In this game, it can hold like 560 and this one is 420 this one it's like 600 you like what? When, in the the Halo series, I was really big into that, like the first game Combat Evolved. There's the rifle that had like 60 like rounds. Yeah, magazines like heck yeah. And then like in two, three and four. It's like Here's 30 like I know exactly why is a shotgun now have six instead of 12 like no no,
68:07
no no.
68:09
Yeah this ammo crap doesn't work like no
68:13
it's so ridiculous.
68:14
How can I say earth with two magazines?
68:16
Yeah, apostle Come on get with it yeah so yeah that's why we're doing a we're noticing how all the ammo capacity is different and all the enemies have a really bad case of oh look the protagonist let's exclusively shoot at him now like but but there's other people shooting at you too you could you could shoot him that'd be crazy so in in fantasy seven you know you instead of the term base style it's pretty much like not a hack and slash because you can switch between all the characters in between because you know that that's weird I saw that after you said that I had Barrett Tifa and cloud and I didn't I forgot to. That's all you have right now. Yeah, I got an upgrade Tifa. And so I was sitting there like, going to like a town with Buster Sword and switching the beret and using magic and then I accidentally switched to Tifa. And I punched the monster. And I forgot I had like zero health. And again, I said, like, 10 minutes turn when you're the character breath. And it's like, Ah, I'm having like, no downs. f. So, this, this problem gets exacerbated later in the game when you end up with like, 12 people. Yeah, because you have to do that for all 12 of them. Because sometimes they're like, Oh, this person's in your fight. Now you're like, Oh, they don't have a thing.
69:43
constantly moving to me, my character Doh.
69:45
I did that real bad. I made that mistake.
69:50
real bad on Final Fantasy eight. I like real bad. Because, like on seven it wasn't as bad. It wasn't great. But it wasn't super bad on set eight. It was awful because I literally only played with four people and in the final battle you can use everybody and I was like no no they come out with of eight nine. But that was the main problem I had in when I first started playing pokemon pokemon gold because again I wasn't I wasn't good with strategy I used one Pokemon and I Royals and so my tie flows in was level like 40
70:31
or something and then
70:32
or you know, when you first start to get the three and I had like sent to quill the fire Pokemon in the first battle. I had them like level 12 I was like pumped up and there's the gym leader and it's a water type and yeah, totally destroyed and so I had like a level three Caterpie I was like well this is awkward. But my go
70:57
I kind of had to oh I have used Like every Oh, different things different types do different. Okay, so
71:05
the second playthrough was much better for me. I'm pretty sure in the final battle against Sol Sephora out there. You also use like, everybody. If it's not everybody it's at least like six people might be more No, like, so you got to do that because otherwise you're like, Oh, I have like, three level 90s and then this dude's level 40 Wow, no.
71:30
Yeah.
71:34
Clouds little flashback
71:37
with Sephora, Sephora.
71:39
It kind of the voice. The voice actor is exactly how I thought Sephora would sound like
71:46
the other things like, Oh,
71:47
well, this is the delight. I like this. And then I was in the cloud. I'm like, he's awful. Especially the beginning. It gets better but it does take a long time. There's some stuff that happens later in a place yeah.
72:01
I'm getting there
72:01
that I will not tell you about right now.
72:04
No spoiler we know are you crying at 4am? We better
72:09
go so ma'am. Anything like last night I'll be up. I cannot seem awful.
72:14
Here I am doing things in bed.
72:18
I'm terrible. Oh no.
72:23
Yeah, that's
72:25
nice. Yeah, playing gears like, oh look all the locusts trying to murder me.
72:33
How nice, huh?
72:36
Yeah Now that I'm actually like listening to the dialogue I'm understanding like more the story and the relationship between Shinra the bad guys and this eco terrorist group that I'm a part of apparently, in the game in the game. Right? And so I'm like, Oh, that's why you go to shoot guns tomorrow
72:57
again, but apparently I don't know.
73:01
I have like six of them here. So
73:05
dad, he's bringing them down to me. Which
73:10
I thought you needed your gun. I was like, Well, I have okay.
73:13
I don't but All right, well, okay, fine.
73:20
That's all I got.
73:24
Yes, I'm not really doing much playing Wii game going back through. After I do this, that dig back through my old ones and see what video games have I not played in a million years and see if there's any difference than any other than Dynasty Warriors, of course, the best game of all time. Of course.
73:50
It has every
73:53
everything, political intrigue, a trail,
73:56
it dices, it does slice and dice
74:00
Mostly slicing and dicing No.
74:04
There's there's definitely a lot of
74:06
slicing and dicing in fantasy. You I think you would enjoy it. On a scale of Dynasty Warriors how much slicing and dicing Oh that's right you said you never played down to warriors I ever played
74:17
on a ward you're wrong.
74:21
I respect you and you're wrong opinion haven't
74:23
played the most bizarre video game franchise of all time. Collin If you don't know what Dynasty Warriors is, don't sorry, is a slightly okay extremely exaggerated retelling of the true events of the Three Kingdoms period in ancient Chinese history.
74:50
Oh no. Oh, yeah.
74:52
Seems like on many, many different levels.
74:55
No, no, no, no. It's fine. It's like, it's it's basically the Three Kingdoms period is this point in ancient China, the end of the Han Dynasty, where the Han Dynasty collapsed. And these three kingdoms aha sort of fought over who was going to rule China. Right? And all their motivations are very, like subtle and weird. And there's like 20 billion different people. It's actually based on an ancient poem, right, called the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. So it's slightly stylized version of the actual events. So they took this old ancient poem, and turned it into this video game. Insanity, right? So it's based on real people, like some of the people in here are real, like Guan Yu was a real person, right? He was a real person, but in the game, they're like stylize and insane and it's really like a hack and slash destroy the enemy army with your like, massive, sword wielding monster guy. You're just you just have to like win these battles and you're just like you're just like bowing down like hundreds of enemy soldiers oh my gosh like very stylized attacks like so it's ridiculous and great It seems so there's a the the games I play a lot the the Total War series on PC so oh yes there is a dynasty there is a three kingdoms expand so there's so there's a separate and can be a on you and so how they how they did it so they did it where it's either there's two different play styles of it either you can play more of the historic style or industry or your style or you can play more of the romantic fantasize version code for the dynasty warrior style you can actually play you have a little the general as usual You or some of the other people we say you can be ZHANG FEI on the bridge. It's not like that. Oh, yeah, maybe that maybe not as crazy. But it's so it's two different playstyles Oh, there's the, there's the, the more traditional, more historic style. And then there's the more heroic, more fantasy more because that's kind of how with like, one of my favorite games, Warhammer Total War, which there's coming out with a new DLC by the way.
77:31
I think like, Oh, it's this month. Ah,
77:34
no, it's it's, there's there's in the Warhammer series, there is a lot of heroes and there's a lot of like great people. And so they incorporated that as little character figures, leading an army so you can actually play as or Command these. So they kind of took that concept into this more romantic, historic style and they're also coming out with a
77:56
total war Troy.
77:58
We're also going to be Because the same facet of either the more quote unquote historic style, or the more fantasy, you know, Greek mythology, adding in, you know, the Greek myth of like minotaurs and things like that. So he's gonna have two different kind of play styles. I'm super excited about that.
78:18
That's pretty sweet.
78:20
And also excited for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but mostly that one Beggars can't be. I mean, who doesn't want to play Viking game? Is I the past the past two things historically wise, I've been fascinated with are in no particular order, Mongolian history, and history, more Icelandic history. I don't know why. But I mean, interesting. Yeah. So Amazon has been quite kind to me recently. I was like, I want to learn more about Icelandic culture. Oh, Rosetta, like oh, learn more about getting ska. Boom, The Secret History of the Mongols. Bam. So
79:00
Yeah, no one knows where he's buried. That's what I know about gangs can go.
79:08
And an extraordinarily large number of people are related to him because of all the pillaging and you got to
79:17
know that.
79:17
Yeah, that's a bit of a dubious
79:24
go whereas the Assassin's Creed, that's what Aaron needs next Assassin's Creed, Mongols,
79:29
long gold.
79:30
No boats in that one side just horses forever. Horses on a big flat. I did rewatch not Top Gear, grand tours special of Mongolia. To get myself more of it. I called it a visual education, but I just really want to know.
79:52
Why are we watching this because it's for visual education.
79:56
I really like that one. Yeah, that was cool.
80:00
If you want a geographical understanding of Mongolia
80:06
why horses are yeah
80:13
you just you just been all manga you've been to the throat singing right? The top grantors special. Ready to go you're gonna hear you're gonna be climbing up a cliff to get an eagle chick. I was gonna say it's like I do need to learn how to Eagle hunt right that's that's how I do that right they've got a little boy the young boys got to climb up the cliff face to the eagle nest to get the eagle when it's like a chick. No Come on. I don't need to be hearing about no I can raise Eagles mister I'm really into Falcon falconry.
80:50
If I don't have one, I didn't go out and snatch it from it. But you
80:53
could.
80:55
No, that's not how you do it. Love battle Hawks.
81:01
Think about Louis and think about them being really self made.
81:10
If you don't have the top of the garage, didn't the Falcon come in and out and out.
81:18
I'm out
81:18
the squirrels off the porch.
81:22
Early in the morning I can stand on with my cool hat at set at a jaunty angle and I can go fetch
81:28
me there. So, yes, yes. And just like launch it into the air. You can go out and hunt the squirrels off the bird feeder.
81:36
If you use Eagle vision. Oops.
81:41
Oh, where am I lost?
81:44
Where's the back? Oh, there it is.
81:48
Your true friend
81:51
in Valhalla is going to be a raven.
81:54
Instead of an ego because the last two games has been an eagle. Right. And this one's not played off. See, I'm looking at right now is the best. It's so good. I'm sitting right there. Okay, now it's, it's the same as origins where you have the actual Eagle. Right? I never Well, okay, instead of Eagle, you have an actual Eagle. You know this, instead of the eagle vision. It you have an actual Eagle. It's like with you that you use to spot things. And he holds it around. I don't remember what the name is in Odyssey in its center in y here. But in Valhalla ears. It's going to be a raven.
82:39
Because you know, Odin and everything so that's good.
82:45
Because Yeah, he turned to a raven and like flying around. That's what he did.
82:53
I hope it comes out on a Wednesday. Okay,
83:04
For what? Yes. So Wednesday, originally named after Odin, right? It was originally called Bowden's day. Not generally that trains morphed into Wednesday. But the original meaning came from the Norse god of Odin, right? I just like many other days of our week, weirdly. But I mean, yeah, like, weirdly, the days of the week are all most of them are connected to Norse gods. And for some reason, but yeah, Wednesday, uploaded today. So I hope Assassin's Creed Valhalla comes out on Wednesday. Hope they like because most of them that come out on Tuesdays, you know, out there like yeah, Wednesday. Now, it'd be great if they did if they had any sort of marketing sense or, you know, be a little on the nose, but they should do that. Ubisoft has all the marketing sense So hopefully some Ubisoft you're listening. really sit on Wednesday, change the release day to Wednesday. Or Ubisoft you want to sponsor us i'd also also
84:13
write that in the notes on Send Email.
84:17
Beat to Ubisoft.
84:20
Sponsor cs
84:24
bahala on a Wednesday. Yes, perfect. Perfect. I actually don't know what day is coming out. Also Aaron got me real excited Colin because he sent me a message. Do you know what other video game is being remade and coming out? This September? I did I do not. Oh, well, let me tell you. It's Tony Hawk Pro Skater wanting to
84:47
Yeah, what?
84:50
What?
84:52
Are you kidding me right now. Goldfinger is gonna be busy.
84:56
They aren't as they are.
84:58
Maybe that's that's why they've been Do it all there. We do this orgy videos because they need to practice.
85:06
I read I read a thing that were like we couldn't get all of the licensing from the original gaming the remake, but Goldfinger is definitely in there So, okay, it's all good to know. All you need. Yes, apparently they are remaking Tony Hawk Pro Skater wanted to be released together. It's a p
85:25
5132.
85:26
Something like that. Yes.
85:30
Claire, I'll be I'll be fun. Yes, it will be. It's gonna be amazing.
85:42
So I'm now looking forward to that officially. Like oh my goodness. All the kick flips, bro. That's what's up. Many
86:00
Probably a little rusty on the old Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but I'm fine.
86:09
Fine. All
86:14
eagerly await your
86:17
review. Yep. There we go.
86:21
Very good.
86:26
We're done the exclusive to that. Really heavier. There we go.
86:34
Oh, so you do anything as we call him?
86:39
A No, no, no, I'm working from home. More that takes more dogs back, which is kind of interesting. Oh, just in time for Memorial Day,
86:52
though we'll have Oh, that's right. That's
86:56
one of those that's coming up soon, isn't it? Mm hmm. Yeah. Oh, it is. Don't mind. That's not a day that I remember very much anyway. Like, I'm always like, why are we not going to? What do we do? Oh, why don't why don't I have mail today? That sounds awful because it's like an important holiday, but like it sneaks up on me every year. I don't even know this year especially. Right? Like, what? What's happening with what? Yeah. So we got that's been that's been interesting. It's been weird seeing an uptick we've been doing so before we sit any dogs, we always do meet and greets with them, just to get to know them in the owners. And we've been doing those outside and from six feet apart, then extremely awkward. And not Raven. No. That's how I that's how I want to talk to everybody. Like, over there. I know. Right? This is a wonderful part of it is like the whole shtick is let us watch your dog instead of putting them in a kennel because they'll be in a home with us. You They can't like beat it but when they can't see the home like it just kind of takes away a little bit of that of like seasoning of r&b right. Well but they can't but we're not letting them inside our house.
88:10
Yeah, that's fine.
88:12
So anyways that's weird but then I'm going on a
88:16
rare they can't see your Falcons and you're paying
88:19
my Pike's in the back.
88:22
Nevermind this. Oh, and then Kyle and Sam, I guess have the opportunity to buy some of her family's like old old old land off the gas grenade and woods in the woods young and good, her great, great grandfather, someone like that part of this larger farm that when they originally settled, they got all this and then it's been divvied up. And so the people who currently own it are in the family and they want to stay in the family but you Nobody else wants it because it's kind of a I don't know, it's not a functioning farm, but it's kind of set up to be that though. Kyle's
89:08
probably in the middle of nowhere. It is it's
89:10
Well, I mean, it's close to heart Ville. So, yeah, it's like I said, I'm in the middle of nowhere, right. So anyway, so I'm gonna go with him and go hike property. So see what it's got on it and to practice for your hog adventures? Yes, exactly.
89:33
Yeah, oh, yeah. No, they sent out an email for Hawk signups and I was like, delete
89:43
until somebody is standing in my office, which I'm not at because I'm working from home, yelling, yelling at me to do it. I'm not signing up to go walk for Hawks. Oh man, not even a cool t shirt.
90:04
So I'm looking forward to going in scouting this place and talking to him about because his big thing is like, he doesn't want to, quote unquote, manage land. And so I, I've been doing some research and talking to some people in the department to come up with ways of like, how do you have, like, realistically How do you have land that you don't manage, but that you don't let just go crazy? I mean, obviously some management has to happen, but just to put it into context for him, so give them some ideas and things to work through. So
90:36
buy a goat
90:40
and a falcon Falcon. Well,
90:52
oh, man, well, one of these things is easier to procure than the other but to start with code guards, maybe to date Don't eat the heck out of all the poison ivy that is definitely there. So that's good. Yeah.
91:06
No, it's pretty Yeah, there's
91:09
I'll have to I'll let you talk to you guys more after I go outside and see it. But there's there's a possibility that between the years of service I found some old aerial photography of it back to 1949. And I was like, Oh, I was like, wow, this is pretty cool look like huh? There's not a there's not some features that I see today. In between 1949 in 1955 someone on that side of the family decided they wanted a new stream channel
91:39
on the property.
91:41
Oh, I was looking at this as like it connects like perfectly perpendicular to the main stem. And it's kind of like this nice evenly spaced
91:53
meanders along this cliff. So basically roughly backhoe ruff backhoe with Yeah, thank you 40s. And so what I think happened is they probably experienced a bunch of flooding in the 20s and 30s. And we're just tired of water being on the field at all times. So they just basically dug dug in the relief channel to bring the water around the main hay field and slammed up against the other cliff. Well, so I really want to see what that looks like. Now he's got to build a bridge. Mm hmm. And,
92:29
well, taffy I told him I think you're halfway to a moat if we're just real here like they started this. It didn't have to work for you.
92:37
At 80 years ago, dude, maybe he needs some Pike's too. There we go. So we'll look
92:43
for pike placements and and and mote depth.
92:47
go from there. Perfect.
92:54
This week, so
92:57
well
92:59
in practice This
93:02
freaking mother. Yeah, you can look for a hug sign, doctor. I don't know what hugs.
93:09
Practice looking all right
93:11
now the more positives you come up with the more work you have to do on the back end.
93:17
If I just say they're not there
93:19
anyway, I think that's how that works. Pretty sure. Literally giant hog rat. Nope. Nothing here. Nope. Nothing now. Bears do actual board task. No, no, that's wood. unicorns. Yeah. Wow. walrus is in Missouri. That's crazy. You can look for a bear or something local ours. They're all local ours. Oh, that's true. I was gonna say elk. But yeah, true. But fine. I saw they were gonna issue like five elk permits. Yes. You're gonna enter no landowner permit. No. Crazy. I know. We have go talk to Great Lakes. Oh, I am not suited for hunting, because I'm too impatient and too loud. So I'd
94:08
go a hill King and see elk.
94:15
Yeah, we I saw that they were doing that this year they do it was a five, like a lottery. Yeah, they're I think they're giving people who are in the elk management zone automatically get something like like that. But people from outside the zone have to go into the lottery.
94:33
Yeah,
94:34
there's only a limit. Yeah, the first time.
94:38
The first time first new one since
94:41
Turkey. I think.
94:44
Yeah. He was the last hunting one I think was turkey added.
94:47
I don't know. I'm not a counselor because I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, Turkey was a it wasn't that long ago because for a long time, there was like, no turn. He Oh, yeah, yeah. I yeah, I was looking at that. Yeah, it was. I mean, it was like the 60s. Yeah. Were they started to really do heavy introductions. So that may have been the last one. And now they're coming up on trying to probably possibly have to two new ones. elk and bear, bear. Oh, man, there's bears next on the plate. Literally.
95:24
Oh, yeah.
