Collin  00:05

Welcome to Oh brother, a podcast two brothers trying to figure it all out. Your hosts, Brandon. And Colin, on this week show a chamber of secrets commerce.

Brandon  00:18

Hello. Oh boy.

Collin  00:20

Oh boy. How's it going? I

Brandon  00:25

was pretty good. I got a little scared there for a minute because I was it has an update when I started No. Well, and so like when I hit join, it was like okay, now it sounds like back. Basil nervous there for a minute. It was just like, you know, does that thing where it's like freeze? And go so? Yes, all is well,

Collin  00:51

all as well. You are here. And here. We are.

Brandon  00:56

Yes. How are you?

Collin  01:01

I am. Well, ah, no, no. Well, it's you know, it's fine. Things are is it's

Brandon  01:09

Yeah, yeah. No, no,

Collin  01:14

no, no, it's been a bit a bit busy again. We're, we are down. We're not as I will say this, we're not as staffed up as we had hoped we would

Brandon  01:26

be going into the most wonderful time of year. So

Collin  01:33

that means that when things happen and I cover, so I'm uncovering cover every few years and so it's fine. That's, you know, that's why I'm here. Hopefully, it's more than that, but it's one of the reasons why I'm here is to do that. Um, so I have I'm, I've been I've been doing those also, it's countless client that has tried to book us several times previously, but they they do they do have an illness and so sometimes they have had to cancel their last two trips with us. And so we had to I've got all the staff members who have not never experienced this client so in addition to covering I'm also having to train them on this new on this client and it's not a particularly hard to visit but this this is the visit that does have the mini pig that I showed you the photo of all Yes, yes, yes.

Brandon  02:32

Okay, this this makes sense why why training required? Yes. Because not

Collin  02:37

that the pig is hard. It's just a bit like opening up pig in the living

Brandon  02:41

room. Yeah, that's not that's sort of outside of your normal Animal Care purview Right? Like cats. Yeah, dogs Yeah, pig but

Collin  02:49

yeah, it's a bit it's a bit much so. And they also added a brand new puppy to the mix too. When they left I was just waiting for you say some

Brandon  03:00

crazy like rabid Oh, they just added a brand new lamb

Collin  03:08

No, no, no. Kidnappers or anything. Angolans, penguins are so cute. No, none of those. No,

Brandon  03:18

that's good. No exotic. We do not endorse exotic animal.

Collin  03:21

Yes, yes. So. So we did. I've been doing pig pig training. And again, it's very I mean, on one level, it's very simple, but still, it's like it's still intimidating. Because it's like, why is he squealing? Like, is he happy? Is he angry? And it's like, it's to me, like a fun thing about pigs is that they make the same noises for whenever they're happy and when they're angry, so good luck.

Brandon  03:49

This is I can see where this could become a problematic endeavor. Right?

Collin  03:53

high pitched squealing Sure. Sure, sure. But like trying to discern from is this content grunt or is this a get away from a grunt?

Brandon  04:03

Yeah, that's an important distinction. We're gonna think about this one. So thankfully, he's not to be stereotypical but he's very motivated. Ah, sure when I

Collin  04:18

forgot helps overcome all barriers.

Brandon  04:22

True right when you're sick Have you thought about this treat though? What? Yeah, pretty

Collin  04:28

much like understand what I understand you don't really want to move and get out of the way but what if I shake this little bowl with some pellets in it that I now we are running?

Brandon  04:40

What does one what sort of treats does a pig want to have? Well, they do have

Collin  04:54

specific food for their it's like their pellets and it, I think, what's it called? It's called, it's called Missouri. Okay, this is hard. I can't I'm not going to get this right. I'm so sorry, people. It's a, I think it's a brand of food or a type. It's Nasseri in AZ you are i. And

Brandon  05:14

that is annoying, because that said, it's almost kind

Collin  05:18

of like I say, Missouri, and then I just, I might cannot make my mouth differentiate, say something

Brandon  05:25

else. Say something else. That's fair, all. So.

Collin  05:31

So I think it's a brand that's a brand of food that they use is just dry pellets, if we've had clients who've had pigs, that or other location who make salads for their pigs from their midday snack, so a lot of the fresh greens and things like that. And wheat, so it's kind of a mixture of that.

Brandon  05:54

Okay, so we know that slop in the night. We're not getting up. No

Collin  05:57

piggy. No, no, not stopping the pig, just dry pellets and a little bowl.

Brandon  06:04

What is important though,

Collin  06:07

is that they require access to lots of water while they eat because they they chew it and then they like make a slurry of their own before they can swallow it. So you have to feed them and then have a massive bowl of water next to them while they drink while they eat otherwise, like

Brandon  06:24

their tummies? Like some sort of, I don't know, trough situation.

Collin  06:31

As one could possibly what might,

Brandon  06:33

one might say, one might, one might be, that would be useful. Yes. So I had a trough room or

Collin  06:46

I had written up quite a policy and SOP because they want us to come over four times a day. So I had to I wrote up, like, what are the six things that we need to do at each visit? And I'm glad and so I did have to make some adjustments to it. Things like it's ridiculous things. It's not ridiculous. They're important things like turn off the outside lights at the morning visit. Ah, because we don't need those on during the day. That's weird. But the mid to late afternoon visit, please do turn them back on so that the evening person can see. The little things like that make sense? Yeah, no. Um, so I'm just trying to be more aware of that kind of stuff. Whenever I'm writing these, I don't always create unique SOPs for clients. Only whenever there's a bit more complicated or a lot to do. Or a pig or a pig. Yeah. Typically, when there's a pig, right, and you're like, Well, how was that just takes up a lot of brain space to be like, I'm in a room with a pig. I'm in a room with a pig. I'm in a room with a pig true. So we try and one that

Brandon  08:07

is, please, please tell me one of your procedures you have written is don't remove any spiders.

08:14

I tell.

Collin  08:16

You know what? I need to hold on positional positive

Brandon  08:25

spiders if you see any spiders, leave it alone. Alone. Spiders, you know, okay.

Collin  08:34

There we go. Okay, it's in there. That'll be fine. I think I don't think we would have removed too many spiders. It's only like our fourth is fourth day doing visit so I think

Brandon  08:44

my fights gonna maybe they're gonna like mess up the Mississippi thing you know, got every chance I can get right like every chance. So, yeah, that's been and it was. It's one of those things to have, like, gotta adapt. It

Collin  09:03

was cold when we first start doing the visits a day or two ago. And let me tell you, Mr. Pig, not a real fan of the cold. So he'd he would not want to stay out because he's okay, so he's potty trained. He will go outside. Nice. House. Okay. They also have him litter box. What? Yes, he is litter box train. Just it's it's a massive litter box.

Brandon  09:32

Where on earth do you this can't be like, like, what have they used for pig litter box like surely you pig litter boxes are not a commercially available product that you can no

Collin  09:43

but what they do is it's like

Brandon  09:45

a kiddie pool that's

Collin  09:48

close. Imagine one of those massive store plastic storage tote bins that are like six feet long and three feet wide and like like three feet tall. Have you seen these things? The wheels on them? Yes, the one with wheels. Now imagine you cut out one side of it, and you fill it with litter. Yeah, that's a he uses. So we had to, he didn't go outside for the first visit or the second visit. And so I was like, Okay, I don't want to have to clean up, you know, pig excrement in the morning. So I pulled out his litter box. They keep God in their pantry. And it's not litter as in cat litter. It's these pine pellets. And so it smells fine. It has it has a good smell to it. So I had to kind of drag that out a little bit and be like, okay, choose this buddy. But today it was almost 60 So he ran outside and like flopped down in the sun was like

Brandon  10:55

oh my god dang it. Now we have the opposite problem. Well,

Collin  10:58

no see aforementioned discussion about just shaking the food bowl. And he wouldn't come

Brandon  11:03

out? Yes, yes. Yes.

Collin  11:09

So it's been fun. So that's another reason where it's like, okay, I have to cover visits. But I can also train on these these visits because they are important because they're weird. So that's been that's been fine.

Brandon  11:24

That's good. Just so was my mind that there's just a pig just like hanging out? Oh, no, it's apparently in a giant dog house size litter box just

Collin  11:35

just chillin, just chillin. It's something else. It's a different experience, different experience. getting everybody to do that. And it is it's also overwhelming for the staff to this is one of those things where there are like five animals to take care of three dogs a hedgehog and pig.

Brandon  11:55

And so yeah, yeah. Okay, so that's okay. So it is a menagerie right. It doesn't menagerie hedgehog, either. Right? Yeah, that's a whole other kettle of fish. Really? Right. Like what the heck? Alright,

Collin  12:07

so we've got a hedgehog and a hog. Hog and ah, oh, yeah.

Brandon  12:13

Yeah. Okay.

Collin  12:16

I have some ideas anyway.

Brandon  12:20

You're welcome. And so then

Collin  12:21

all of a sudden, it's like, okay, there's a whole other care routine of like, well, he doesn't need a heat lamp. So we have to make sure the heat lamps on each visit. Also, he's a bit shy. And so they too, they found that he would when he was little, he would just hide in his little hole as a knapsack thing that they have in his cage, and he wouldn't come out. He's like, wasn't eating and he wouldn't come and get water and all this stuff. Until they found out that when they would watch him, they put a camera on him, he would try and walk around and like, he wouldn't go very far. He'd hide. He's trying to hide his head down in the burrow stuff the bedding. And so they one day they put in a toilet paper roll to try and, you know, encourage him to come out and explore and thus became what he does is when he's ready to go about on his little walk about and explore. He will run to his toilet paper roll, shoved his head in one end looked at such that you can't see his head because he shoves it all the way in and walks around. content that you can't see him and he walks around his little enclosure with his head shoved into a toilet paper looking down out a lot are

13:40

what on earth what

Collin  13:44

he'll do is he'll he'll it's like he'll put on his little hat and he'll walk over to the water and he'll take off his hat give a couple drinks water and put on his hat again

Brandon  13:57

hear I thought all this time that right like it was just like a like some sort of character trope when when Brian jocks was like, Oh yeah, the Hedgehog is the cellar keeper, ugly seller in the red wall series series out there hedgehogs don't really wear and they just like turns out he was actually a hedgehog behavior expert.

Collin  14:26

Admit that to nature.

14:29

Ya know, it's so quick. It's

Collin  14:30

so it's so funny. He's just like any few. Yeah, and it's the cutest little thing and he'll sometimes he'll forget to go back to his little burrow and he'll just curl up in the corner. And you come in at the edge Hogans laying there apparently lifeless with his head shifted the toilet paper roll. Like star like no Oh no, he's breathing. Okay, he's fine. Okay,

Brandon  15:02

yeah. Oh yeah. That is the weirdest thing if you look. Yes. The Agora for agoraphobic hedgehog rodeo pretty much

Collin  15:21

it really is fear of watch faces, people. It's real. That's funny. So that's been that's been fun to introduce to everybody to because I tell these stories periodically of like, you know, just to let people know the variety of things, but to be like, No, look, this is the one. This is this thing. And they're like, oh my gosh, she's so good. I'm like, I know. They're like, He's so weird. And I'm like, I also know.

Brandon  15:46

I know. I know. So much. Yeah. So that was

Collin  15:56

that was this morning's adventures getting to take care of that.

Brandon  16:01

And then that was, that was good. I went to

Collin  16:07

I did another cryo facial thing for some sinus video. I did. I went, Okay, so I'm in a different location. This time. I did go to a different place.

16:19

This was more of

Brandon  16:20

the introductory offer. Goodness. Yeah. I've never had this before. Well,

Collin  16:25

I mean, again, I am in a different city. There.

Brandon  16:30

Okay, that's fair. Well, I

Collin  16:31

also also I did I know these business owners because I did meet them at a at a chamber hermosa Chamber of Secrets. And honestly, now I don't want to call also, yes.

Brandon  16:43

Ah. Anyway, so when we miss opportunities is this man is this branding is so boring. I'm

Collin  16:51

going to start calling the business after hours, the Chamber of Secrets, and you're not going to stop me. So I was,

Brandon  16:56

if I made it more whimsical, more people would come? Yes. Right. Yes. It

Collin  17:00

wouldn't be quite so busy their

Brandon  17:04

lives. Worrying. Anyway, I met them there accidentally. One of my students started reading the chamber of seeds today. So it was a fun time for you.

Collin  17:15

I felt a disturbance in the Force. Another

Brandon  17:19

job. Also, there was a pig in my dream last night. I don't know if that ended at all. But there was

Collin  17:25

stop talking anyway. Hey, the camera three say the first thing No. So I

Brandon  17:36

did telephone?

Collin  17:37

I did. I did. Oh, no, I did. I was gonna say something that I did talk to them at a business meeting. And so I thought, well, I know these people who do this thing, I should probably go support them. And they were they had never said my first thing is they had never done something like this, like, for sinuses, but they had known that it could be done before. And

17:59

I came into the room. How awkward

Brandon  18:00

is that? Like? Yeah, bro, trust me, this other person did it. And it was

Collin  18:05

pretty much what I said. Look, I heard thing. Anyway. So the other person, the first one I went to they had a little. And I really I learned to it's co2. It's compressed co2 that drops the temperature so much. Okay, this is important news. This is also why when it's being blasted on your face, right? You can't breathe, right? You can't.

Brandon  18:25

Because it is I mean, well. As I tell my all my kids in science class, we don't want to breathe in things. Not named oxygen, right? We want.

Collin  18:36

It's not very good. So

18:38

nice. So the first one

Collin  18:41

that I went to, it was a nice pretty tank of co2 on this little rolly cart that was hooked up to this like computer looking thing with a touchscreen, and a very svelte wand that came down, then she wanted it over. Okay. This one, you know, those, like praxe air trucks that drive around with those big tall cylinder tubes. Okay, imagine six of six of those in a room. And there's a there's a hose going directly from one. It goes straight to this little handheld unit. Like it's just gonna walk right into the back of this handheld unit. And she's like, futzing with some buttons and she was like, Okay, I'm ready.

Brandon  19:27

Guys, I don't know if I'm ready. I changed my mind.

Collin  19:30

I was like, Okay, well.

Brandon  19:35

She was like, I'm just in a welding shop and like, Oh, no.

19:43

No, that's not at the acetylene. Right. Where's

Collin  19:47

your striker? I was like, oh, so I lay back and she's like, well, I've have another tool but the heads too big. It can't get up on the sinuses and I talked to the manufac Sure And they sent it to us this one and blah blah. But just so that you are aware of this

20:07

this gets so called you may feel ice pellets hitting here

Brandon  20:16

ah vaccine which pellets I was like okay, how can I can be sweet on you was it like it was like a like a sandblast bonus exfoliation. Uber was Oh my gosh. Oh

Collin  20:45

not only was it cold and painful but then I've got sand being blasted.

Brandon  20:51

Oh my gosh.

Collin  20:54

And at this point while she's blasting away at my forehead, I have Megan's voice talking to me in the back of my head going. I just read a news report of somebody who got frostbite and lost a finger from a cryo.

21:09

Oh no, I'm gonna get frostbite on my nose.

Collin  21:13

I'm gonna lose my eyebrows.

Brandon  21:16

Like, you're just gonna have to lie. It'd be like I was okay to write and I got no people that frostbite on your forehead came from a cryo sinus therapy. You had to be like nasty. I was on an

Collin  21:30

experimental fracture burned to what it is totally legit placed off my nose in the Himalayas. So, so she does a couple passes. And she's like, how was that? I was like, oh, man, I

21:47

think oh,

Collin  21:48

I think one more though. simplepie real good. Lord, I find

Brandon  21:54

in the poor lady. She's gonna sound like some unsuspecting person's face tomorrow.

Collin  21:58

So I won't even know the lawsuits are gonna be real. They're gonna pull me into court. Like no, no, Mr. Yeah, here you go. Yes. Like you ran over. I

Brandon  22:09

liked it though. Like it was fine. Everyone

Collin  22:11

video of you saying that's great. I can feel the difference. So what I was really after was, she had said, because this was part of a. Okay, so also we had wanted to get certificate to this place because we went to their grand opening, and then they drew our name because I think we were the only ones who went to the grand opening, but that's a different story. Fine, don't worry about it. So I was like, Well, I have this thing. It is free. Like I'll go use it and so on. I told talk to when I scheduled it on the phone. She was like, okay, like, well, I want to try something when you get here. So I was like, okay, cool. So she said, she kept saying like, but you're really gonna feel it when I assault you.

Brandon  22:49

Okay, okay, excuse me. Watch that. She said that phrase three times. And like, once wasn't enough to cause concern. Me I'm gonna salt me. Salt. Like freezer. They're like she's gonna cure you like hang you in the freezer here. Rocky's gonna come and punch on you like what the heck is going on here?

Collin  23:13

Give me back me. It's salt in putting me underground is what I was like. Like, okay,

Brandon  23:20

so Chi in the smokehouse cold smokes. Right, exactly.

Collin  23:25

Last frozen

Brandon  23:27

slimmed, right? Yeah. Ah. So I'm

Collin  23:37

like, oh, so the third time I was like, yeah, what is that? Like, why? Why are you assaulting me? So parents, so what it was, so I went through the thing on my face and I could actually, regardless

Brandon  23:50

of the hat being held

Collin  23:53

peppered with ice chunks, I could actually feel a difference. So I was like, Okay, now I know that I'm going to warm up because that's what happened last time I'm going to work as I warm up, it's going to dislodge and I'm going to get some more press release here and it's gonna be great. So she said, Okay, well come upstairs. So I went upstairs and upstairs is where they have their infrared sauna, and she didn't turn on the sauna. What she did was in the back it basically has like this kind of diffuser thing that get puts out quote unquote salts to open up your your your pores and your your respiratory system. So it's like it's like doing a neti pot nasal rinse without having to flush water through you is

Brandon  24:41

like steamed Yes,

Collin  24:42

it's like a steam. Okay, like a like a vaporizer situation. Yes, yeah. But in it, it contains something in it that is what it is. Do something

Brandon  24:52

in some sort of alkali in.

Collin  24:57

Yes, the water.

Brandon  24:58

Yeah, or the temper what Ever this mystery thing? Yeah, again,

Collin  25:02

who knows what it was, it could have been some wonderful gas, and whatever never seen again. I sat in it and she said for 20 minutes, and I think a combination of me warming up plus this stuff like it did like it did like there was a few moments where it was just like a like in my face. And I was like, okay, like, this is good. I will take this. But the problem was I was sitting in the sauna without any access to tissues. So I had to quickly like waiting room and grab like a little hand towel thing that they had, like,

Brandon  25:37

oh yeah, so nine farmers handkerchief on steroids. That's already my matches protocol.

Collin  25:52

That was my adventure today. And I'm not gonna lie, my skin is still a little sensitive to touch.

Brandon  25:59

You should read it. Just take a look a little towel, like a tea towel and put it on your face so that you don't get directly blasted? The with the sandblaster there, right that way we still get cold. Right. But well, then I don't know. It might be too cold on your face. But that might actually be frustrating. It's like,

Collin  26:18

Well, I wouldn't want it to freeze the thing to my face. Right? That's my other. Yeah,

Brandon  26:22

I was thinking I was thinking through this out loud. This less of a good plan than I initially thought. Right? Once I started thinking. Oh my gosh, sell us your products. Oh, wow. That's and now I'm like, No, that wasn't so bad. after all. I think I'll do that one. Yeah, right there. Actually one D thing, right. Yeah.

Collin  26:54

Because again, this was a little black tube that came straight out of that cylinder. And the thing that the mechanism that this lady was holding this time, it was kind of like, I don't even know how to describe it, but it had a tube. And then it kind of,

Brandon  27:08

oh, I got it. You know, the bop it, twist it, pull it.

Collin  27:15

Okay. It had that shape, where it was like a little short handle a big bulbous part. And then a long handle. Hey, wow. Okay. Yes. Okay. And the hose went to the long handled part, up through that. And then the bulbous part is where it had like a little touch dial touch screen thing. And then it blasted out the other side. And that's what this person used. And the other lady had like, this whole, like cart contraption, touchscreen computer, like thing. And I was like, I think that probably controlled it a bit more. So when I'm learning, I'm able to give it a little lower. Right, like,

Brandon  27:53

so it was a blast much. You know, like, he was able to rein it in a little, like, pull it back. Yes.

Collin  28:02

Yeah. Is what I, what I feel like it was,

Brandon  28:04

I probably got, here's the thing,

Collin  28:07

I feel like it was colder this time around than it was the first time, but she could prolong it the first time. So it actually had more of an effect. Instead of being like, you're gonna get really cold in three seconds. Right? That's what this that's what this time was versus it's gonna take us several, like 3560 seconds, I can maintain that sustained contact. So it actually chills deeper than just doing the skin.

Brandon  28:36

Okay, that makes sense when you sort of explain it like that. Yes. Yeah.

Collin  28:46

And things that I'm learning while I'm sitting there in a

Brandon  28:49

little room. Still the same Yeah, I don't so still nuts. Thank you. No. Lesson learned. Yeah, I go. Oh, wow. So that is very, very adventurous.

Collin  29:12

Boy howdy it was was something something hopefully then. Hopefully you've been lovely. Even less adventurous.

Brandon  29:19

Well, actually, I was quite adventurous on Sunday. What part of your body did you freeze? While I was outside at night, so ah, everything right? I was already

Collin  29:33

Oh, a whole body crying Oh,

Brandon  29:36

I was very well, yes. But it just outside in nature. So we went to Springfield, some of our friends. Right. Step one, of course had to go stop by. We had to eat. Right. So we, we ate early, a little bit because of what we're doing. So that was kind of annoying, but we did. That means we did get to go sneak into Leon's and go absent. You know The Birthplace of Springfield style cashew chicken. Oh gosh. The Mecca promised

Collin  30:05

so good. Was he was he there? Was he sitting at the bar?

Brandon  30:10

He's dead. Oh, no. About this. Oh,

Collin  30:12

that's right. Sorry. I had a flash memory of literally the one time that I managed to go there he was sitting at the bar. Okay now I'm sad anyway. Yeah, so that's

Brandon  30:21

what he used to do all the time. They have his picture up on the wall on these big things anything by electrical so in their aid was really good. Right got some nice stuff there that a drink soup though to them. Excellent. But we we went to the the Mizumoto Japanese garden for the Christmas light thing.

30:42

Oh, yeah. Nice. Yeah,

Brandon  30:47

that was pretty cool. My friends were like, Hey, are some of our friends were like, Hey, you want to go? Like?

30:54

Sure. I guess

Brandon  30:58

it's a place in Springfield that I have driven by proxy 8000 times, but never actually gone to. Wow. Yeah, that's cool. Like it's ever actually gone in there. Oh, they're like, Hey, you want to go there? Sure. So I have I have a question. What kind of Christmas lights did they have? Yo, it's basically like they just decorate the whole stroll garden. Oh, in like crazy lights. It's insane. I'll send you a couple pictures here in a second. But it is wild. It's really cool. Like we got there like rise, it got dark. So we we've sort of been there again, like you had to buy tickets and stuff, but we bought them early. They're only $5 If you'd like buy them online, before you go there for some really like five bucks. So at least for this day. I don't know if that's all the time or what but we paid five we gave my friend five bucks that and that's what she meant. So I was nice. I wasn't gonna argue right? They just sort of like light up the whole thing looks like this. Right? Here's a couple of the click a button. There we go. The best part of because this real garden is full of water features.

32:29

Oh, sick

Brandon  32:31

reflection action going on there. You know, but they have the there's a path like a stroll path around the whole thing. And there's just lights everywhere. They're on all the trees. Oh, wow. They're on the churches. They're on the bridge. They're on the building. They're on the walkway. And then they have some, like actual it's all they have like a display thing that's like a this is like on that first one. There's there's one there there's like a heron. Right. And then there's like a you know, later there's like a flower thing. But then like everything is just lit up. Right? Yeah, it's really cool. No,

33:13

I I really like

Collin  33:15

looking at these photos. I really like when people do like, no, it's gonna be the whole tree right like the whole

Brandon  33:22

cool like the whole thing. Yeah, so it was really cool and again water is because again there's so much water the little all the reflections and stuff were like really cool in there So originally we probably spent we spent over an hour just kind of walking around and looking at stuff and taking pictures and things and they had a in the middle they had like some food trucks out there like with like coffee and donuts and stuff all kinds of stuff right so so my friends got some cookies and stuff. Yeah. And they had one part they set up it's like a big square that's made like a picture frame and it's all like lit up and there's like a bench behind it and people will just take we took our picture in there I know Susan has that on our phone but I'll take a picture there and they have little firepits spaced out around the path right and and there's just like a logs next to them and so walk around and you can go stand by the fire old right extend my fire a little and then move on and there's more fire it's really cool and the like that colors the life there's some colors that you're like what in though a lot of like interesting colors like purples and like gold and like there's really cool there's there was a several that were like blue and silver kind of together or like really weird blue color. Or like, like there was, there was a couple times you had these like little cool trees. There was one it was like, about four feet tall. And then it sort of branched over is like an evergreen, right? But it like branch over and they only lit the underside of it. So it was a little like kids were like crawling in there and like it was full of much whimsy. Yeah, whimsy happening. Oh, that's cool. That was really cool. There's very creative light plays. Right. And so, here's the fun, there was like a ton of people there. But lately it didn't really feel that crowded, just because they're all walking around, you know. And like some of the parts like, the path is very clearly like you have to stay on this path right here. But other parts are like, you can go off in the grass and you can like, like there's a lot of space because it's outside. Right. So there's really nice. It was fun. We did Sunday. Well that's quite this isn't feeling very nice. Yeah. That was fun. Hang out. Hang out with your friends. Or do the thing. Stroll around. There was like it wasn't bad, but not like freezing cold. You know, you're like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna die. I never once thought I was gonna get frostbite on my nose. So that is lame. Lame. Be in style now. Not very adventurous. I guess not as interesting as other people might be. But

Collin  36:55

well, no, don't be adventurous is

Brandon  37:00

very bad. Yeah, it's fun. That's, that's big thing we did. Did that excitement as I've gotten? Well,

Collin  37:11

I mean, it's pretty nice.

Brandon  37:13

So it is very pretty. It was really cool. Yeah. It was nice to get to go because it was one of the things that like, I've known about it for a very long time. Right. Like, that's the thing that happens. Oh, you never gone to it. And I always like Christmas. I like forget, I always forget that that place exists. Right? Because I also like a whole other huge park next to it. Like really big park area there. And then like, there's the whole like stroll garden in the back. And there's like, kind of it's a really big open really pretty space. I just thought it's the where it is. I think about it right. Number one listeners it might be adjacent to the Federal Penitentiary may be relaxing.

38:05

There's so quiet.

Brandon  38:07

You can't see it. You can't see it when you're inside, especially at night. Right? Yeah, it's like over there. But it's also right next to the Missouri State Agricultural building. Ethan dar Ag Center. Yeah, yeah, whatever that's called. Yeah, it's like tucked back off of scenic. Right. So you get to it. You have to go all the way around the upside down there. And you have to drive through Nathaniel Greene. Right to get there. Yeah. To get to the stroll, right. Yes, you have to go. So you have to also go through Ben. Thank you Green Park yet. So remembering that it's back there changes. But folks to get

Collin  38:43

to that part. You won't have to drive through a whole other park.

Brandon  38:48

Yeah, it's like a secret park within a park. Mm hmm. Which I guess is the part that makes it tranquil, right. Because it's like way tucked back in there. And there's all kinds of like big there's huge trees back there. Really big trees. Tons of water spaces. Right. Lots of little like reflecting ponds. Some of them are not little lots of reflect Oh, reflecting. Huge. Yeah, they're pretty large. And also that's a waterfall water feature. Waterfall thing over there is like gazebos with just seats and like rocks and benches that you can just like sit on you know, we did not sound because they were cold but you class and upon that. Yes. If you are seeking seeking, you know, a relaxing stroll, this would be a very nice thing to write without out what I was there. That is where my what the other people some of the people that's where they got engaged was at the park keeper at the park back so that was like a thing. Like, that's why they wanted to go because we just all went with him but hey till I didn't know that. So that's awesome. You know Exciting friend backstory there that gauge was that apart origin stories, stories neat and neat origin story like that. So, yeah, it was cool to get to explore a place that I'd never been before. It is kind of overwhelming going to a place that you'd have to go before when it is completely bedecked and Christmas lights. Ah, like it's a bit like, I don't know. So if I went back in, like, the spring or they have like a Japanese festival thing and like the fall? I don't know. Yeah, what would it be like? Because I've only seen it. I've only number one. I've only seen the in the dark was completely covered from head to toe? Oh my gosh. That's quite the first impression. I gotta say.

Collin  40:51

Well, I mean, it'd be like you're seeing it for the first time again, you know, so that's true.

Brandon  40:55

That's a plus.

Collin  40:58

That was the only however, I will say that you want to rehearse every now and then Google Street, Google Streetview will equip somebody with a

Brandon  41:07

backpack with a camera on a pool.

Collin  41:11

And you can go and you can actually stroll through the museum, Moto Japanese stroke garden, as it was in 2014. But

Brandon  41:21

hey, wow, given the Wayback Machine there. Yeah, well, they

41:26

there's no there's there's no Doer one. But

Brandon  41:31

I've mean, why would they update that one? Like why? Right.

Collin  41:34

Right. Well, I mean, the bushes you're gonna know anyway. But yes, you know, new trees. So that's pretty cool. You can stroll

Brandon  41:41

you get the backbone. How do you get the strolling job? A Google? How does one get hired to be a backpack? Oh, roller? Well,

Collin  41:52

I will tell you that one of our clubs

Brandon  41:54

I can get paid to like to get paid to amble through a park? Yes, do that. I'm very good at apps, doo doo doo doo doo. And

Collin  42:04

you know, it's going to be a really smooth shot as you roll your toes. And really your heels are marching. Yeah, so you can actually bust that out and be like, I have another use for the skill. Now. I can Google

Brandon  42:17

it hire me to do the bike path to Oh, yes.

42:20

See this? I'm talking about bike path. Bypass review. That's up.

Brandon  42:27

Me Up. Right.

Collin  42:31

Let's go. One of our clients. When I came up to do the go over there, their neighbor drives the Google Streetview car in the area for real. And it's parked in their driveway. So it's crazy. If you ever wanted to feel like you were literally living next to Big Brother. Have an ever ever big tripod on top of their car. Yeah, like Yeah, and it says

Brandon  43:02

kept birthday in the garage, right? No.

Collin  43:04

It has to be out. I thought that was very funny. Like pull over and I was like, looking at it. And later they were they they brought it up and they're like, Yeah, he got that job last year. But a little different. Man, that's cool. You You cannot stroll around the state penitentiary. I mean, that's fair. That's fair. You can only look at it. You want to have the

Brandon  43:33

you don't have the inside eyes on that one. Right? You don't want to keep them out of there. Right? Like it'd be bad times.

Collin  43:43

So while I'm good, glad we got to go to that. That's a really cool place. I do like Nathaniel Greene it is I always forget that it's there and I have even more so forgotten the museum moto Japanese stroke garden because I thought it was someplace else in town. So

Brandon  43:58

I also always forget where it is. Right? Like it's I'm like it's over. Weights. Oh no, it's not on record. It's independent greenpark Okay, and now we know what to do I think it's over by the

Collin  44:18

start is it I want to I think it I think it's over off of like, national or something. Oh, yeah. Because there is a little tiny Oh, it's the water wise garden so I'm doing some Google Streetview here for some reason my brain when when someone says the stroll garden, that's what I think of. It's not it's like not even close. Like it's it's a it's not but that's what my brain is like. Yeah, there's something over there off national.

Brandon  44:46

You know? Yeah, um, well, there's so many like random parks in Springfield. Like, some of them are like really big and sprawling and others are like, a block like just like this. little teeny like a blank. There's so many like ran there's some like really nice big ones like big like again like big like sprawling and then there's like, you know like Phelps Grove Park is pretty big and then there's like a little one like that little one that's on Seminole and Fremont. It's like, it's technically a park.

Collin  45:24

This one I'm even thinking of like once the ones that have an outsize hold on my brain like fascinate Park. Like, yeah, well, yeah, Elon is tiny, but I like that. Just I know. Like, there's so much to happen there probably for the worst, but like, it's okay. That's fine. But yeah, you're right. Like there's this this little neighborhood parks just flopped around.

Brandon  45:47

And, you know, one of these days we should do like a Springfield Park tour. The official Oh, brother Springfield Park tour. Okay, right. We can rank them. We can visit them. Some of them probably. Like, it'll take like two seconds to visit. Other ones we could run for the

Collin  46:08

driving Park tour that we can we can get to the park board to get it posted. I love you. I know you guys are trying to drive more traffic to the parks. And here's here's here's a driving tour

Brandon  46:22

car. Yeah, here's us helping because

Collin  46:29

and then I'll have to be like the what is it? The walking tours of, of museums where they have to be paced. That gives them enough time to get to the next level. And it's just filled with commentary.

Brandon  46:41

Oh, man, how in the world plot that there's so many random. What. Okay, well, man, that is awesome. All right. Well, that's gonna take some work there but we'll get it done.

Collin  46:59

We're getting together again soon. We'll be fine. It'll be we'll fit it all. Oh,

Brandon  47:03

yeah. Cuz Yeah, that one day that we'll be together versus out that we can totally get out the park that's like, the one that was it. I want to add, yeah. You know, when you're on like messing around with Street View, or like maps or whatever, and you actually like, spin the whole thing and you're like, where am I? Oh,

Collin  47:32

like, what's reality? Yeah, no, I understand. Yeah,

Brandon  47:35

I freaked out a minute there. I was like, where did he go? Where is my my stinking thing, right? Like, like the rain? I can't remember the I'm trying to find on here. That's that weird random little park. That's like, right on national like, like that. We drove by to go to church. Right. Just like, is that like? Oh, is it?

Collin  47:58

Is it national? Park? Daniel. Yeah.

Brandon  48:02

It's literally just a field. Yeah. Yeah. This is like right there like, okay, there it is. Yeah. Or then like, I forget filtro Park is like, all the way over there. Right. Even though definitely been there a few times. Like it's over there. Yep. Very strange places. Yeah, just like oh, yeah, that is here. Oh, yeah. Well, really? Yeah. So weird. Yeah. Well, that's all well add that to the to do list. Yeah, sure. Metro Park. Of course. There are a teeny tiny Metro Park. Yeah. With it's like, the swimming pool is mostly.

Collin  48:49

Mostly. Yeah. And then there's the ones like on the like, doling, I always forget about doling on the north side of town. Oh, yeah, me

Brandon  48:55

too. Manor Park is much bigger than you Oh, wow. They took out the weird janky playground it's like softball fields and like now there's a janky playground. Oh, god I'm glad to still there. Yeah, the kids character Yeah, what a weird memories there for some reason I don't know why.

Collin  49:18

This is what I'm talking about. It's

Brandon  49:19

like why lays why there Yeah. All these like little teeny ones. Which one did you say last night though before that. Oh, darling. Yeah. Well, it's

Collin  49:35

it's way on the north side of town. Just south of I 44. But like basically it's kind of up there but Dickinson Park Soo

Brandon  49:42

Ah,

49:43

yes

Collin  49:44

way if you take Campbell and go all turns into basically a to a little tiny two lane road that you will find darling.

Brandon  49:54

I forgot about that. And I was like, Wait, what are you said it I was like wait What the heck? Yes. I noticed like a similar but I can't remember where it is.

Collin  50:04

It has a spring like it has a natural spring and stuff. And oh, there's all sorts of now they have a cool like, family center up there. And like indoor I think it has like an indoor pool now over there I think I don't remember. But

Brandon  50:21

anyway, yeah, I got the weird

50:27

interesting yeah

Brandon  50:36

yeah

50:43

come from I don't even know. Right.

Brandon  50:45

Where's the Ah, all right. Well, I will look at that list later. Yes. scope it out here. Okay.

Collin  50:59

I know you had a terrible a terrible challenge for today. And I challenge I was talking about No, no, it's just terrible. I I'm continuing on it. But in protest. This was what was nightmare fuel. You said. I had to. I had to go back through. Listen to That's true. Terrible things. Fall in my hotel. I have a frozen face. And I'm having to now assault my eardrums to it's true because

Brandon  51:28

of your challenge. Now, I will say this, this has a bit of a story. Right. So this this comes out there my other experience this week? Oh, okay. Right, comes from this. So I'll, I just will say that. I'll bring it up once once we officially start here. But this, this was inspired by things that happened to me this week. Right? And then because of that when I was going to We're driving to work this morning, right? I was like, oh, yeah, I got it. We're gonna do record tonight. And you know, and Susan's like, You should talk about that. And I was like, Yes, we should do that. So she helped me. Okay, well, so what, what, what, what listeners saying the following you? Well, well, I won't, I'll save that I'll save the reasoning for the actual list because one of the songs one of the one of these things appears on my list, right one of these. So listeners, listeners we have decided, well, I decided to call in agree with me that this week's challenge, right, because it is the holiday season. Right? You know, it's the most wonderful time of year that we should probably make a list of the worst Christmas songs. This because there are lots of good ones, right? There's lots of good ones that bring joy, but there's always those ones that you hear that you go, Ah, no, I don't like this one or other things. He's like, ah, and it like really dampens your spirit. Right. And so I want to talk about those songs. Sure. Today, right. I found now, um, because I just came up with this idea today. I'm probably missing some listeners. So know that. Please tell us your least favorite Christmas songs. Right comment on this. Tell us what you think are your least favorites. But wow. Yeah, I was like, oh, oh, no. There are so many bad ones. It was I

Collin  53:33

Yeah, no, you said this. I was like, oh, yeah, that'd be great. That'd be so that'd be funny. What a laugh what a lark. Ah, everyone. No, no, I started listening to like the first one because I had a few in my head. I was like, Well, why is this? Basically within the first like three beats? I was like now

Brandon  53:50

like, yeah, it's, yeah. It's yeah, I mean, I immediately came up with three like so right after I thought about it some more I was able to come up with a top five, right, like, yeah,

Collin  54:06

no, I don't have my I don't have I don't have mine ranked at all. There are no order. I can't mine aren't yet to try and do that. So

Brandon  54:15

I do have I decided, Yes, mine aren't necessarily in any order. I'm like, the more I hear them the further they go up the list. Right. Yeah, that's part of it. But I did just put them in into five spots. Sure. Again, not necessarily a solid five. But I put five and then I have a couple honorable mentions and some other things. Okay, so, yeah,

Collin  54:41

so I don't know. I mean, how do you go about defining a bad Christmas song? Because I, yeah, I want to know kind of how you approach this. Also,

Brandon  54:55

I think there's two categories, right. I think there's two categories of bag was bizarre. I think that there are Christmas songs that are just like they're not very Christmassy, right, they're just like, what on earth eight? Like, it's just weird, right? Like, I don't What are you talking about? Right? Like it's not it just doesn't really fit into the Christmas thing. It's like just sort of tangentially about Christmas or like something like that. It's just not it's not pleasant. It doesn't fit with like, holiday fun, festive, right? But at least in my opinion, yeah. And then there are then there are people that then there's the other category that happens a lot which is like Christmas songs performed and recorded terribly. Really Yes, it's not well, they're like oh, yeah, we're gonna jazz it up. No, you should not have done do not do that. No, why would you do? Yes. So those those are my two like like ones like some of them there's there's a third category I guess, right? The overplayed annoying ones, right? The ones that you hear all the time they're like not even really that good to begin with. And then people just play them so much. And you've heard them so much and they just like great you it's like an art you feel like your face is being run on a cheeseburger and you just don't like it anymore. Right like it maybe it was like okay the first time you heard it but then like the 712 time you heard it you're like no more right so that's that's kind of how I think about okay, that was those were my thoughts on bad Christmas songs right that's what I thought my bad yes add to the

Collin  56:45

No no I think Yeah. Of of my brain had to two different categories you're right of of this is cuz yeah, what does it mean to be a Christmas song? I think we kind of hit on it like happy jolly light fun, you know that kind of stuff upbeat and then there's the ones that are also performed poorly, like poorly poor, basically, a lot of it falls into like, this is a really bad cover. Really? Yeah. That somebody woke up and chose violence today with how bad they're going to do this. Yeah,

Brandon  57:21

like are you like how did nobody stop you? Yeah. Like some you had to like go through this. You had to record it there was engineers there and then they said that was good. Yeah, they had to say somebody I know more takes we're good, right? Yeah. And then somebody had to mix it right and then somebody was like yeah, release that

57:47

oh, what why did you do that? Oh, it's so bad. Oh, yeah,

Collin  57:54

I am I it look I'm just going to be I'm not going to be including any YouTube links to these monstrosities show no we're not driving traffic to this No, we're just being names and titles and hopefully we can protect the innocence that's all I'm gonna

Brandon  58:09

say. Yeah. So yeah,

Collin  58:12

well do you want to do us we'll do ahead we'll do a one one like your fight started fine. Okay, what do that yeah,

Brandon  58:20

yeah, it's fine. Yeah. So again, this is my top five bottom five worst Christmas songs. Sure. Just in the order that I thought of today. This is not a concrete order. This is a very fluid list and can change if I like remembered a song that I forgot I would sure

Collin  58:40

oh no moving to get smacked in the face with one that your next department department store when

Brandon  58:45

I walked if I go through next time on Walmart and I get a costed like auditorially through the speakers. I'd be like no that's fine. That's fine. So number number five I put a song it's like it's not great and it's really annoying. It's same time and that is last Christmas by wham Hey, like this. Okay, it's definitely verbally in this song is annoying. Like I just don't want to hear like wham is whatever but I don't really think they should be making Christmas sounds right like I don't know like

Collin  59:26

I just think you're jealous of their hair is really what this is.

Brandon  59:31

Yeah, no, I don't think so. I just can't right. Frankie says stop right let's just go

Collin  59:39

do that. Yeah, this was definitely reached

Brandon  59:42

the like it's an okay, go okay. I think it's okay

Collin  59:47

like the maybe the first time like I can see how this was may have been popular the first time somebody heard it back.

Brandon  59:55

Definitely oversaturated problem,

Collin  59:57

right. Yes, here. It's

Brandon  59:58

so much Thank you so much. Oh my gosh. He's saying, Oh, no more. No more

Collin  1:00:10

Yeah, so that's that's a strong entry outside. I may have a more obscure one. I don't know. Speak to my time so that was a 1986 entrance. This one's coming up. Oh yeah. Hot from 2009. Oh, this is of course I'm speaking about Jessica Simpson featuring featuring her sister Ashley Simpson. And they have the little drummer boy

Brandon  1:00:36

Oh. Oh, no,

Collin  1:00:40

I don't I don't know if you've heard this one recently.

Brandon  1:00:43

I think I heard it like once enough for me

Collin  1:00:49

look look these are all look look look okay before shooting you everybody on this list has like is somewhat is way more gifted and talented than I am just like these were bad choices. Their parts this rendition. I

Brandon  1:01:01

don't know if Ashley Simpson falls okay. So

Collin  1:01:03

on. A major country contribution to this is her ability to say a rump on pom pom. Never the same like no two are the same. Having when they follow it's just so so glaring, obvious, it's like It's like somebody was just like another take another take to it a little like, give it a little more zest and just say every time Purab

Brandon  1:01:37

Do you remember Saturday? Live? Do you remember? The Ashley Simpson Saturday live debacle? You remember this? Right? Ah, dude, she totally Milli Vanilli her Saturday Night Live performances got off, right? Yes, that's the lipstick. Yeah, it was bad. It was bad.

Collin  1:01:58

Lip Sync bales? Yeah. So this is yeah, this is 344 years. Five years removed from the after that. Yeah. So she's, she's still riding high. That's all I'm gonna say.

Brandon  1:02:10

Oh, okay. Yeah. Little Drummer boys are already a bit of a controversial Christmas song. Anyway, that's, that's just a song in general that some people just don't like. Right. And that it's fine. I think it's fine. But like, man, to actually just combo. Oh, that's right. Okay.

Collin  1:02:32

Yeah, that was that's pretty fun. Three buttons. Yeah, that's my number. That's my number five. All right.

Brandon  1:02:39

My next my number for this song appears on the list. Also, purely because of all of the bad covers of this song. Right. I think they're all bad. That is of course. Santa baby.

1:02:54

Oh,

Collin  1:02:56

any one particular version?

Brandon  1:02:58

Oh, there's so many bad ones. Like I think the Pussycat Dolls didn't want Oh, that's okay. Yeah. There's just so many sensitive baby covers out there. Like, I just I have a problem with like, weird sexy Santa Claus. That's just not like what is what? Why? What are you doing? Stop. Just okay. Is Santa Claus gay? Yeah, jolly man. Leave him alone. Yes.

Collin  1:03:34

It's weirdly it is a it is a weirdly? Yeah, yes. Yeah. Song for this time of year. He's like, That's weird things. Okay, whatever. Like, yeah,

Brandon  1:03:45

yeah, no, no, it's and it again. Almost all of them. Are there so many bad covers of the song. Right? Just like, they're horrible. Right? They all think they're Marilyn Monroe, St. John Kennedy, right? It's like some

Collin  1:04:10

way it's way

Brandon  1:04:12

over the top. Alright. Yeah, it's a way. Way bad. No, stop it, please.

Collin  1:04:21

It's real bad. No, I agree. It's just like, that's not what I would like to

Brandon  1:04:29

you know, like, that's not how I want to do a Christmas Yeah. Right. That's not having a Holly Jolly Christmas, right. That was like that was one of the songs I thought of immediately. Kind of never thought of this list. That was like the first thing. I have a,

Collin  1:04:49

I have another bad one here from a rendition of one. And this one's most unfortunate because it's by an artist that I again and all this is like Again, like this is an artist that's generally like really well respected and this one in particular, like one of the, arguably one of the greatest songwriters of all time, decided to tackle this one and it to arrangement of this song when you listen to it, it's it's just it's like a it's like a few like it's fever dream is what it is. I'm talking about Bob Dylan's must be Santa.

1:05:25

Oh, no. Set to it's a Polka tune.

Collin  1:05:31

turns this into a Polka. For no reason. I'm gonna add like, Bob Jones, great songwriter, like, little tough to listen. He's trying to like, choose this song. And it's got the polka like what? Like, literally like it won't bump back. It's just it's not it's, you know, the original 1950 1960 version. Not bad. Not bad at all. Not bad song content. Bob Dylan's like, you know, I guess at some point, artists reached that point in their life where they're like, Man, I remember that song. I gotta I gotta do it. It's like, oh, did you have to do it this way? Like, oh my gosh, yeah,

Brandon  1:06:17

I think the problem comes in. They're like, I need to put my own twist on this. I don't know, twist. Please just know. It's memorable. Yeah, this is this is like the National Anthem problem. Right? Like, yes. Like, like, I don't like using the network, because almost all of them do it bad. Right? Because they're like, I need to put my own twist on this. No, just sing the song, man.

Collin  1:06:48

It's, there's,

1:06:49

there's sheet music right down. Like it's not that hard. There is sheet music right there.

Brandon  1:06:54

You don't have to give me the know. Right? Listeners, international listeners, I need to know, sidenote. Is this a problem in your country? Do you have celebrities singing the national anthem? Or other people seeing it and is it terrible? I need to know this. Right back to the list. We got okay. Okay, so your number three. My number three, my number three inspired the list. Oh, right. Okay. Okay, so Sunday, driving to Springfield. Okay, we're on our way to Liang's pay for visions of cashew chicken dancing in my head. Were listening, of course, to like, the Christmas music station in your friend's car. Okay, so she's driving. She's got the Christmas music on. The song comes on the radio. Alright. Another important part of this story is my friend is the high school choir director. Hey, okay, our friend. One of our friends is the high school choir drink. And the song comes on. And she goes, What is this garbage? Oh, no, it was all like Oh, no.

Collin  1:08:19

Okay, I oh my gosh,

Brandon  1:08:20

this is a duet that no one asked for. Right. Oh, when asked for this duet. Are you ready? Oh, no, the Christmas duet between thing. And Shaggy. What? No, be correct. You heard me correct. Shaggy. Singing what? Silent Night. Christmas is coming. It's it's not it's not like not that it's some weird song. Right? Oh, I don't know what it is. It's horrible. thing. Right. I almost put it at number one just out of sheer spite, because I've heard it and I was so appalled by what I heard. But this is like this is the list inspiring song. Okay. If it's like, I would have accepted like, I was telling them at dinner right? I would have accepted like, a tongue in cheek play off of like, it wasn't me. Like you're sneaking around looking for your presence. Right? That would have been funny. Right? Like, caught you creeping in the closet. It wasn't me. Right? Looking under the bed. It wasn't me right. That would be hilarious. This Christmas song is appallingly bad. Oh no. Oh, two, two giants of the music industry. come together to make garbage Christmas. No, no, no. I think I think the biggest problem is right we're talking about this our friend degrees, right? Like the biggest problems is their voices to not go together. Oh, like hardcore. Not even a little niche it sounds so bad. Oh my gosh. I can't even tell

Collin  1:10:29

I didn't. I didn't know at any point where any of that conversation was going. So I'm

Brandon  1:10:36

it takes a lot of turns. That is something

Collin  1:10:40

else. Wow.

Brandon  1:10:42

We're all just looking at the little radio display thing. Right going? What does

1:10:47

it say? What I think it says like, yeah, what's happening on that real?

Brandon  1:10:53

Is Real Life. We drive through some sort of interdimensional portal on the highway and end up in an alternate universe where this is okay. I don't know. I? I

Collin  1:11:11

know No, I'm really, this is really upsetting. And that's at number three. So this is bad. Three,

Brandon  1:11:18

the other two are already higher because I've known about them for longer and they've annoyed me for a much longer time. Sure, that's the only reason they made it higher.

Collin  1:11:29

I do have to report just real quick that apparently, Sting and Shaggy are best friends and are here and are announcing a music festival called One fine day that they are.

Brandon  1:11:44

I had to look up the name of the song it was like Sting and Shaggy are back together again. There was like, Yeah, I know. Okay, well, that's, that's mortifying, I'm gonna next time just play bass while shaggy thinks we can do Yeah, or something. We can't have you both at the same time. Okay, it's not. Okay. Well, all right.

Collin  1:12:09

My my number three is not nearly as shocking as that. My number three is just annoying, because it's such a sad, sad, sad song. And I cannot listen to the song. I'm talking about new songs. The Christmas Shoes.

Brandon  1:12:25

Oh, ah, Susan mentioned this one earlier. She

1:12:29

she doesn't like this one either. No, it's a no no, no, no, that's no, no, no. No.

Collin  1:12:35

That what a terrible No, it's bad. It's it's just like, That's what she said. Oh, I can't stand it. Why is it so it's just cried sad now. Terrible. is the worst idea for a sock ever. Oh, oh, yeah. Oh, I know. It's gonna be uplifting for this time of year. He's gonna have shoes. He's gonna give to his terminally ill mother. Right? And then oh, my gosh, no. Terrible.

Brandon  1:13:04

No. No, because you can be buried in them. Wow. How fun is that? What great. So anyway, that was,

1:13:13

that's fine.

Collin  1:13:15

So anyway, next, what's your number two?

1:13:16

Yeah.

Brandon  1:13:20

My number two is on this list sheerly because it's just horribly annoying to listen to. Okay, right. I like this like group, like in general. They're fun, but I don't like it when they sing. That is of course Alvin and the Chipmunks. Ah, Miss time. All right. I can't. I cannot miss grace. miss that? No. Joy. There is no cheer Alvin. Alright. I can't I cannot with singing chipmunks. Just it's not fun. All right. It was cool. Like, here's my real cool, like, 9080 or whatever. Right? But not now. Not after, after 40 years of singing chipmunks. No more. No more singing chunks. No, no, no. That's our time to hold movie. Yeah. And also the fact that made two whole movies where the plot is like seeing each other. What No. Yeah, no, it's not novel anymore. Or like the cartoon, right? Just don't like them singing. I don't like chipmunk voice singing songs is horrible.

1:14:26

And, like, specifically that

Brandon  1:14:30

one Christmas song, right? That Christmas. Christmas time is here. That's it's just so bad. Yeah, like the quote, harmony parts. They just don't. Lies. Lies Ah, well. That's a good one. That's a good one.

Collin  1:14:56

That's a good I mean, it's a bad one. It's good for this list. If it's This list is just like

Brandon  1:15:02

when you're a kid. It's like fine, but not now. Can anymore. No, I can't No, no, it needs to pass in specimen. Yeah, I don't want to hear anymore. My

Collin  1:15:10

number two comes in because I genuinely like this group like this is a group that I like. It's also a song. That is a beautiful song used to close out Christmas concerts all over the place, right? Christmas Eve. Services, all sorts of beautiful songs I like by by a group that I liked. So you would think it'd be a match in made but no, this one one of my favorite indie rock, punk rock, Geek rock, Elmo, Emo stuff, whatever, like Weezer had to sing Hark the herald angels sing is mind numbingly boring. Like nothing it's it's a nothing burger, which is so not them. And I just it's such as your Oh, you're

Brandon  1:16:15

Yes, yes, I agree. Oh, I will add that I had

Collin  1:16:20

a hard time digging. I didn't actually I guess. Okay, so like my one my one thing that I had here was Bob Dylan's must be Santa. I gotten a really bad like, right, were all of the bad things that I could think of were just just metal or rock bands that had covered Christmas songs. And I was like, this is this is an important aspect that needs to be covered. Right? Because that falls firmly into the aforementioned criteria of terrible covers.

Brandon  1:16:48

Right? That's

Collin  1:16:50

like, I don't know. Like, what did that what was one that I actually heard? It didn't make. Okay. Anyway, I just I just like, it's I don't know why he's like, metal, like rock groups. Or like, you know, we need to we need a Christmas album. No. No, same thing with indie rock like no alternative rock? No, you

1:17:10

don't know, please.

Brandon  1:17:18

Yes, I agree. I agree with all that. Oh, all right. Well, why number one is the list. Partly for just the insane amount of repetition that it receives. Right? It's on the list because it's a terrible song. It's on the list because it's like, boring and not fun to listen to. And I just don't like it. There's nothing appealing about this song at all. To me. It is my least favorite Christmas song of all time. And there's really nothing. I don't think they can change that no matter what songs I rediscover. I remember exist. That is I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. I don't I don't understand song. Right. All the recordings are bad. Right? They're sewing in it. Like there's a couple that are sung like it's almost like someone's trying to pretend to be the chipmunks. It's terrible. I just

Collin  1:18:27

know it's there. They're duly made and just like, yeah, like

Brandon  1:18:34

Yes. So, right, I just don't like this at all. It's a bad song. And it's it's not even a bad Christmas song. It's just a bad

Collin  1:18:52

song. It's really Yeah, no, it's it's very grating like I think that's a lot of this stuff, too. Is that kind of falls into that. It's it was me I'm picking out some themes here. We've got Alvin and the Chipmunks it's a grading grading on us. It's

Brandon  1:19:13

Oh, ah, okay.

Collin  1:19:14

No, that's a good one. That's a Yeah, okay. Oh,

Brandon  1:19:17

man. Well, you know, my my number one I really feel like the mood is right.

Collin  1:19:29

And that because the spirits up and we're already here tonight. I feel like saying we're Yes. I'm talking about Paul McCartney's simply having a wonderful Christmas time.

Brandon  1:19:43

Ah, oh look, I have prepared something.

Collin  1:19:52

I'm just gonna let this this this song standalone. You have all heard this. I'm just whatever you're playing in your mind that That's why this is number one on my list

Brandon  1:20:12

Oh, it's so infuriating from like, the Paul McCartney.

Collin  1:20:19

Oh my gosh, it's a chant. No, no, I guess so bad. It's so bad. I but yeah, yeah, whatever you're thinking in your mind right now. That is my number one reason why whatever it is okay. That's why it's on my list. Just Nope.

1:20:36

Oh

Collin  1:20:43

that, that that song is why after I was like, Oh, this will be fun. And then the only song I can think of for the lock is freaking time was this one. I couldn't think of any other song, except this one just kept coming back it's terrible. Like, I think it's just the repetition within the whole song. He just says that over and over again, forever. And the verses are terrible. There's nothing in them. At most, at most, he says more than four words in the sentence. And everything else is it's just three words. Right? Well, yeah, the word is out about the town to lift a glass. And don't look down. The it just said there's nothing. Nothing, right is that thing? Yeah. So he just yells wonderful. Christmastime over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Ah, so that's, that was my number one. What if upside, also was on your trash list.

Brandon  1:21:52

Very nice. I had add two other, like very specific songs. That I just got bad songs. Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. Okay. Right. Why? Why? Why is that? Why is that a song? And I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. Okay, yeah, you're in a cease see Santa baby. But it's the same. It's the same category. Right? A lot of covers are very bad. And like, the weird Santa thing? I don't I don't like that one. Right. Yeah, I don't like that. And the other things that I thought about this week, right. The other thing that jumped out to me was traditional church hymns or Carols that are covered badly. I like him in the traditional like choir setting. Right, I guess, just like that. I don't know, maybe maybe growing up in a church that had a choir, like a big legit choir and everything right? Like, I only like those songs in that setting. My big choir, like, Hark the herald angels sing, right. The only other example version of that is if the peanuts crew are singing in knots, or an actual church choir. That's what I want to hear pretty much this last week, right? We were listening to a church service thing and they sang it came upon a midnight clear, and I about lost my mind. I was like, what is that piano doing?

1:23:36

Oh, no, no.

Brandon  1:23:40

It was like, it was like the pianist had been listening to some Miles Davis like it's almost swinging and that's not okay. Right. There's not okay. came upon him in that clear not allowed. So very sick. Yeah, like trying to play like fast domino like stride piano, right. Like,

Collin  1:24:09

we're not like what? You know what we need? What do we need this Ragtime? This Ragtime? Yeah,

Brandon  1:24:15

all right. It's like, you're not Count Basie stomach, right? What if we did Count Basie Count Basie inspired piano on it came upon a midnight clear. Like, how about know the song with Dan? Dan, I would have just loved so, with with a couple of like, excellent covers, right. Like, like very traditional like church hymns, or like, traditional Christmas carols. Yeah, I don't like them in in a genre outside of that. Right. Sure. With the perception with the with the x With the glaring exception of the Trans Siberian Orchestra, right, that's fine. But like, but see aforementioned

Collin  1:25:05

proclivity towards like choir, right?

Brandon  1:25:09

Yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah, that and some of that stuff too. So like, that's what I don't I don't like it when they're like oh yeah, it's just like a dude singing and like some like, Jazzy piano or whatever like, No, I don't know I'm a very I'm not very traditionalist in anything in my life, right. I don't really ascribe to like, realism, right? Really not my bag, right? Except for apparently Christmas carol wants Yeah, I just want no either just like just straight up like Vocal Performance only. Right or like, or like the whole shebang like choir piano organ. From last week Rafa mentioned Oregon, right? possible strings. Okay, that's what I want. Like this is like Christmas Eve performances where it's like the whole orchestra thing. Yeah, there were like, those things are cool. Like, I liked that. But like, I don't like jazzy piano and it came up on the night clear. No. Oh, that okay. Yeah, okay. Yeah, no, any other honor? Well,

Collin  1:26:25

I mean, I just again, I struck a rich vein in my brain of terrible renditions done by rock artists and I'm just going to point out to to drive my point home. This should probably should have been on my list and should kick something off, but I'll start with

Brandon  1:26:41

a very, very, very popular Christmas song. Jingle Bells right. Right now okay. How much

Collin  1:26:51

in the Christmas mood would you be if corn decided they wanted to cover that? Probably not very, probably not very much. No, no, but they did they decided that that's what they needed to do. So there is a version of corn singing jingle bells out there.

Brandon  1:27:04

Wow, Christmassy which is you know, I heard somebody describe their music with I like corn, right? Sure. I don't I don't know. not hating on corn. But I heard somebody describe their music as skunky. And like that really just. Oh, that's not a real word. But that is the corn sound and light

Collin  1:27:23

is a rocky jingle. But it's a real description for corn. It's funky. That is right. I look I'm not going to use that as an episode title. Because for various reasons, but I'm just it's gonna in the show notes. I don't even know S A R O in

Brandon  1:27:46

that's what I Yeah. scroggie Jingle bells,

Collin  1:27:49

jingle bells. Right. But I think personally, it takes the top again. This is just I just had two more was

1:27:57

i i? I like Okay,

Collin  1:28:01

I like being Crosby's White Christmas. I do. It's very, okay. Okay, you know who I don't like singing this is Iggy Pop. I know. I don't like this is it's genuinely unsettling. It's creepy because he's singing and like this, like Iggy Pop, baritone, voice and like, it's just sort of like, word wrapping for a while through part of it like spoken word. Just like it's very unsettling. So I

Brandon  1:28:35

think Susan mentioned the other day when we were listening to Chris's radio, like I'm pretty sure she's like, you know, she's like, I like my Christmas but but only Bing Crosby. I think that's right. Yeah. Like the only person who said possibly necking for me but that's it. Yeah. It's so bad

1:28:58

it's bad. Yeah, so yeah, I

Collin  1:29:02

I'm looking I'm not happy with myself because I had to listen to really listen to all of these today. But you know, it's fine. Takes away from the pain in my face from the ice crystals drew like died now. So now I am gonna go listen to just some like, yeah, just some hands. Come down from this. Whatever. Whatever this.

Brandon  1:29:29

Yeah. Well, in order to help you reach died. Uh huh. What did you like? Would you like to cleanse your palate with a haiku? Perhaps?

Collin  1:29:39

Indeed, I

1:29:40

would. Well, okay.

Brandon  1:29:46

Taking the challenge, written IQ about your boy, Deena. Oh, no. Okay. Oh. Since you're his biggest fan and

Collin  1:30:02

quick. Okay, so real quick on that. Before we get to need to tell you that again we saw him in concert. Okay, he's 81 Okay, yeah, we did see him in concert. Okay, I did I did go see if he's 81 years old. Do you know is is getting he's called the modern Liberace. He's trying to use to like big stage productions and having like full orchestra and like wire and set pieces and things flying through the air, the cameras encase, strip all that away and put them in a sleepy little town that I live in on a tiny little stage. And he's

Brandon  1:30:41

and he's

Collin  1:30:44

and he's playing alongside recorded music. Yeah, it's not white. Listen, quite the same. But still, still funny. And I still laughed at the stupid jokes that I know that he has said 17,000 times just last year, right? I just know. Like, I know he says this. Like I just just so the one it was fine. We it was it was also free. So that was also nice. And we did we did go and we did enjoy. We did enjoy some Dino. So

Brandon  1:31:26

yeah, it was Christmas music.

Collin  1:31:28

Oh, get oh, that's all? Yeah, do you not only does Christmas music, its dean. And he's kind of like what he's like what he's known for most like he does. He does some classical and he does some other stuff. But like he does Christmas productions of what is what he does. And so he does all these different he told us he does all these different melodies are, oh gosh, my brain just completely. Not melodies. But it's another M word at least medleys. Thank you. It's got most of the same letters there. And my gosh, through it actually guys, see medleys and some of these mashups and stuff and some of his own songs. My goodness, let me tell you if you want to know who really loves some Dino a little, little gray haired ladies really like Dino

Brandon  1:32:24

le likes this. You're gonna say Megan, I was really hoping you can see Oh, no.

Collin  1:32:31

Yeah, and Megan, right. It was a little grayer ladies. Yes, Megan. We're really all about the dino life. Because he was talking about like, like this beautiful piece that his daughter had written for him to play and blah, blah. It's just telling the story. It's a transitional story. That's the only thing he's like, I'm gonna play piano and I'm gonna sit and talk you up and like tell some jokes and like then kind of play piano and it's just a traditional thing, a transitional thing. And he's just telling us a beautiful story because he thinks he's gonna go into to do something else. He just goes out for the crowd goes well play it then you're on like

Brandon  1:33:11

it's part of the show you're gonna get the whole position in a production

Collin  1:33:21

so anyway, tell me about I'm ready for this. I'm ready for like who am I right?

Brandon  1:33:26

Here we go. Here's my like Dino inspired haiku. Right Hey go okay. A surprising fate music mixes with baking joyfully composed

Collin  1:34:09

he's had so much Botox it's not even funny so when you say that surprising face like like yes

Brandon  1:34:18

like that, dude. You look at the pictures of diseases at what he's like. Yo, what? Oh, oh, no, because I was so shocked when you sent me the picture last week. He's like oh my god you're

1:34:35

surprised it

Collin  1:34:43

says good okay, well with that I will now that can now I can now put my two breaths in peace. Yes. Good Love you
